A really fun trip visiting the highlands and all the castles
So the day before I visited loch Ness. But this trip took us to the West Highlands and to the castles. One of the castles was the one where Monty Python and the holy Grail was filmed. The council's just a shell and they charge $10 to go inside which I did not do. I did visit the other castles and took pictures of others that we didn't stop at. Lots of information on the tour and the tour guide and I compared information from the tour Guide I had one I visited loch Ness This is a must tour for those who want to see West Highlands

    Excellent customer service
David is the best tour guide in Edinburgh. He cares about customer's convenient. He is also informative, funny, and helpful. Adam drives safely and smoothly during the trip to Glenfinnan Viaduct. Their service is beyond expectation and do really enjoy the trip.

    Picturesque and Friendly
St. Andrew and the old course are gorgeous. The village was busy but not too crowded and we spent about 3 hours there. I felt we could have used a bit more time there. The villages of fife were picturesque and the locals were friendly. Our guide, Mike was knowledgeable but kept telling us the cool-er things we could've done if we didn't have a coach. He was also a bit hard to understand at times.

Great way to explore the Highlands if you don’t have a lot of time!
Definitely well worth it! We have visited the Highlands before but now that we were bringing family with us only for a few days, we decided to do this tour so we could visit as much as possible. Wendy was very knowledgeable offering a variety of information with good sense of humour that could satisfy everyone. Jamie was a very good driver and it was nice to see how polite he was with the rest of road users. Strongly recommended!!

A great way to see the Highlands if you don’t have much time
We have been to Scotland many times but now brining the in-laws who were visiting from Greece. We were only coming to Edinburgh for 5 days. To make the most of our time and ensure they got to experience the Highlands we booked this trip. It’s a long day but well worth it. Wendy was wonderful, making sure every was happy and telling us many stories along the way including Scottish history and information about mythical creatures. The atmosphere was kept light hearted all day by Wendy’s comments and stories. Thanks Wendy! Jamie did a wonderful job driving and we felt safe at all times even when some of those bends were pretty hairy! Thanks Jamie! We all had a wonderful time and highly recommend!

    Perfect day trip ☀️
We had the best tour with Alistair as our tour guide. He changed the route for us to make sure we had the best condition on Holy island and also provided a couple of small “detours” and provided us Scottish history served with a good portion of humor - highly recommend!

    Super fun!
Views were spectacular! Sterling castle was beautiful. My tour bus driver John made everything so fun, he was cracking jokes and had such a good spirit and attitude. We are booking another tour for this coming Sunday and I’m hoping to receive him as my driver once again.

I had the best time on this tour! There were several of us on this tour that don’t usually do group tours. Generally, I don’t prefer them because they are so rushed. However, our tour guide, Kenny, was excellent. Even though he set times for us to be back on the bus, I feel like he did give us plenty of time to get done what we needed (if we didn’t dwaddle anyway). And once we were on the mini-bus—wow! So many interesting stories about Scottish history and popular culture. He interspersed these stories with a wide variety of Scottish music appropriate to the situation. I particularly loved the last day’s music selection with songs from the 1980s and 90s. All this really enriched the experience. Kenny also took into account our requests, such as finding some Highland Coos and visiting the fairy pools. And then for people who didn’t want to do that climb (in the rain it turned out) he took them to a nearby beach. The only thing I would recommend is booking your own accommodations as they put that off until less than a week ahead (as my host confirmed) and several people had to switch B and Bs which is really a pain for only two nights.
Also, you can start this tour in Glasgow.

Hi there, thank you for your review! I'm really glad to hear that even though you normally have reservations about group tours - you still had a brilliant time on our 3 day Isle of Skye tour with Kenny as your driver-guide. It's such a beautiful part of the country and it's even better when you get told loads of stories about the history and culture up there. I'm sorry to hear that there were some issues with people switching b&b's, but I'm glad this didn't impact your enjoyment of the tour and hopefully we will see you on another some day soon! All the best, David

This was a lovely experience! The bus was organised in a sense that different group of friends wouldn't have direct contact with each other while still allowing space for interactions. Masks were worn at all times (while inside the bus) and hand sanitiser was provided to us. Felt absolutely safe during our 3-days trip.
Graham wasn't only a very cautious driver but also a Scottish legend! He would make his best to give us the best views of the highlands, lakes and castles, explaining historical details for each site we visit.
We have chosen to stay in a B&B booked by Timberbush, and they have done a great job. Our B&B was at Springsfield Guesthouse for 2 days, close to city square at Portree. The owner was a super kind and polite lady, installations had all safety measures implemented. They were still providing housekeeping!
And here is my tip: take cash with you! Many places won't accept cards and you will be left with 2 ATMs - and one was out of service.

Kenny our tour guide and driver amplified the whole experience with his knowledge and expertise of the area we were travelling through. The expansive scenery, ancient architecture, lochs, coastal expanses, rivers and bridges, postcard sunsets came alive with his humorous anecdotes, historic events abd graphic story telling, Gaelic comments and awesome music to educate, and entertain. He assisted in many and varied ways.
All 18 passengers formed easy comaradie over the 3 days, sharing some delicious meals, abundant humour, awesome walks amongst the hills and valleys and ever changing cloud filled skies.
Kenny showed tolerance and patience managing our group with ease, encouraging us to explore the experience being offered. Wandering through castles and over natural terrains, discovering and making the most of each day.
An excellent driver and caring about each of us in his care. Dropping us at our different accommodations which offered comfort and delicious breakfast options.
For me travelling on my own, I appreciated the frienships created over the 3 days, some continuing in my future. I enjoyed every moment and if ever in Scotlad again I would book into a different tour but with Kenny as its guide. He well deserves the 5 stars and more. Thankyou for making my holiday so memorable and enjoyable. You and the Scotland I experieced have my gratitude.

We did a 3 day tour to Skye, Highlands and Loch Ness from Edinburgh. There is a lot of time on the bus but our driver, Martin, broke it up well with frequent stops and good commentary about the landmarks and history of Scotland. The weather was typical for the Highlands - frequent showers and windy. But that added to the authenticity for me. Pack for the rain though! Highlights on the way up were stops at Glencoe and the drive past Loch Lomond. Skye itself was stunning and we packed a lot into the 2 days there. Quiraing was my favorite stop of the tour. Mountain views were incredible, even with howling wind and rain at the top. We hit several nice waterfalls and other notable landmarks, but most things are a 20-30 min stop, so be prepared to constantly get off/on the bus. Our accommodation in Portree was Woodside B&B, about a 12 min walk into the main town. B&B was very well appointed but like all the businesses in Portree, does not take credit cards. Cash only. This would have been a 5-star review had we known this ahead of time. We were told by Timberbush that we would have to pay our accommodations separately but not that they wouldn’t accept cards. This was a huge headache to secure enough cash in 2 days to pay for 3 rooms. Also the crush of tour busses in Portree at lunchtime makes it impossible to get a sit down meal. We ended up eating take away fish n chips on a windowsill in the rain. The town simply isn’t set up to handle the number of tourists that come in summer, and the “cash only” attitude in the town reeks of some sort of tax scam. Nowhere else on Skye refuses credit cards. Just in Portree.

The journey back saw much better weather. Stops in Fort Augustus at Loch Ness for lunch at the Lock Inn was great. First pint in the sun in Scotland! Then the later stop at Pitlochry were delightful. Having seen Pitlochry only very briefly it’s somewhere I’d definitely consider going back to for at least an overnight stay in the future. Amazing stonework buildings, distillery, shops and restaurants but we only had 30 mins there. Finally back to Edinburgh and Timberbush were very flexible over drop points due to the Kings Coronation blocking parts of the Royal Mile.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind review! We really appreciate the feedback, and are glad we could show you some of the best that Scotland has to offer over your three days with us! We're sorry to hear that you found Portree not to your liking. We work closely with several of the B&B's and most don't accept cash as they often don't have the facilities or internet connection strength necessary to accept card payments. However, we are glad that overall you enjoyed the tour & the stops we were able to include for you as well as Martins wonderful guiding! Warm regards, Clara

Great itinerary - so much packed into a few days without feeling rushed at each place. Weather made it impossible to see somethings but just as great replacement activities offered instead such as the seasonal ferry ride to Skye!

Great guide - Jim really made the tour unforgettable for everyone, with his amazing nuggets of history and music weaved in amongst TV/movie, popular culture & celebrity anecdotes ... each tailored to the backgrounds of those on the tour bus. Not forgetting his sharp wit keeping us all entertained during the drives

Great customer service - even though it was difficult finding accommodation due to a music festival (first one after COVID) Timberbush's team found us a great apartment & got us a great deal on it too!

I fell in love with Skye because of the above & will be sure to be back!

I had very little time left in Scotland, and I am very happy that I booked this particular 3 day tour to cover the most beautiful places of Scotland.
In terms of experience and price value this is a perfect deal in my opinion.
I have really enjoyed the company of Graham who is a highly professional tour guide with so much knowledge and loads of life stories to tell people. He has a very good skill of time management and skill of being flexible and adaptable to a group needs.
I booked a trip with accommodation and absolutely don't regret it! The host-lady was lovely and everything was clean and tidy in the room and in the house.
I think it would be great to have more time during the photo stops but I do understand that it is difficult to cover so many places in 3 days. It was a little bit difficult to find places for lunch and enjoy it in 40-60 minutes time, but we managed.
I do recommend this tour for everyone who doesn't have a possibility or time to travel on his/her own.

My daughter and I opted for the 3-day Isle of Skye tour. We were lucky enough to have Kenny as our guide for the trip. Kenny really made this trip memorable by giving a brief history of the areas were were traveling through and the stops during our journey. Kenny even added a personal touch by selecting a playlist of local artists that sang about Scottish history and some of the places we were visiting. Kenny took time to get to know everyone and ensured everyone had an amazing experience. My daughter stated that this was the best part of her holiday. We had plenty of stops to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and take a lot of pictures. I enjoyed this trip, so much that I will be returning to the Isle of Skye next year to spend some more time there. I'd recommend this tour to anyone who loves being a part of beautiful picturesque landscapes. I will definitely book another tour with Timberbush as long as Kenny is my guide.

Jim was our guide and he was excellent! We were a group of 16, so every seat in the bus was filled. Jim was a very able driver and made us feel safe and comfortable all the time. He filled us in with storied and history of Scotland and showed us the many sights in the Scottish Highlands and also on the Isle of Skye.
Restaurants in Portree tend to be booked up early, so best to call 2 days before to make reservations. We stayed at an Airbnb at Portree and Jim was very kind to drop us and pick us from our accommodation everyday. Our accommodation was at the Hamara, a highly recommended accommodation for our family of 5.
Will recommend this tour to anyone wishing to explore Isle of Skye from Edinburgh!

While I did enjoy my time on this tour (I met some wonderful people from around the globe), I felt so much was missed from this tour. We barely did a fraction of the itinerary posted online; I understand that beginning of November is nearing the end of season and certain attractions are closed, but more could have been done to replace those attractions. I felt as though the guide (Adrian) had ‘checked out’ for the season as he was barely providing any information about the places we passed through. Scotland has such a rich and interesting history, and I felt that missed a lot of opportunities to share that history.
If I wanted to sit on a bus for 3 days, I would have simply bought a bus ticket and toured around myself. I chose to do a tour because I wanted to learn along the way.
Maybe this tour would be better at the start of or mid-season, but I do not recommend going in November. I truly felt it was not worth the money.

Hi Brianne, Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our Isle of Skye, The Highlands and Loch Ness 3 Day Tour. It's lovely to hear that you met people from around the globe, it's always nice to hear of friendships forming on our tours. I've passed your comments regarding the tour and the driver-guide on to our transport managers to have a further look in to. I'm sorry that you didn't receive the service that you were expecting. Scotland is beautiful and full of history, it would be great to show you that if you visit Scotland again. Kind Regards, Jodie

What a horrible experience

Unfortunately we were contacted 3 days before our trip to say our bus was broken and they would no longer be able to accommodate us. It is a bit scary that there is no backups in place for the broken bus. This left us in a really bad spot. The accommodation at the spots we would have stayed was fully booked and most tours were sold out. The suggestion they gave was to do a few of the shorter trips (at a significantly higher price) or get a full refund.

I wouldn’t suggest to rely on Timberbush. I think the actual tour would have been great though looking at some of the other reviews

Luke the chap trying to help us was very friendly though.

Hi there, thanks for leaving your review. Unfortunately, being a company that relies on coaches, from time to time they do suffer breakdowns and at this busy time of the year, we can't always guarantee that there can be another coach spare to take you on your tour. When we aren't able to take you on a tour, we always offer an alternative at no extra charge, so that doesn't sound right that the shorter trips were going to cost you. If these options don't suit, then a full refund is offered which I hope you have now received. As unfortunate is this was, we do hope it wouldn't put you off travelling with us in the future as, like you mentioned, the tours are really great. I'm glad to hear you found Luke in reservations to be really friendly as well. All the best, David
