About
Getting to Outlander's filming locations on your own can be tricky. On this tour, forget about tackling public transportation or the hassle and expense of renting a car (and driving on the left). With a guide—and perhaps an extra from the show—see key locations like Castle Leoch and Lallybroch come to life. Enjoy seamless travel between each location and a choice of either Glasgow or Edinburgh pickup and drop-off.

Cancellation policy

Available languages

Highlights
  • Hear insight about each sight from your guide
  • Live like a local by sampling some fine Scottish whisky
  • Convenient choice of Edinburgh or Glasgow pickup
What to expect
  • After pickup in Glasgow or just outside Edinburgh (depending which option you select), your first stop is Doune Castle, the filming location for Castle Leoch (and also a star of Game of Thrones). Next, travel to Falkland, a small Fife town that stood in for Inverness, and then to Midhope Castle, which doubled as Lallybroch. If Midhope is closed for entry, you’ll instead visit Hopetoun House, the home of the show’s Duke of Sandringham. Along the way, see the magnificent Scottish landscape and learn about the nation's history and culture. Learn some Gaelic sayings from your guide, and enjoy "a wee dram" of Scotch whisky. With luck, an extra from the show will join to provide insider secrets about the show. Your final stop is Blackness Castle, the filming site for Fort William and some Wentworth scenes. The tour concludes back at your original departure point.

DO NOT BOOK!! They never showed up for our tour, left us stranded on the side of the road at the pick up spot. Didn't answer call after call or facebook message. 2 days later they responded and we attempted a reschedule, and they didn't show up AGAIN. Still has not refunded our money! Horrible business, I have no idea how they are still even around.

This review is long overdue, we took this tour in August 2019 with Struan as our guide. This was a wonderful mini group tour (mini in that there was about 8 of us in the vehicle) that my mother, a good friend and I went on. We had a wonderful time exploring the towns and filming sites. The wonderful meal in Falkland (and all the doggies there!) was my personal favorite. Though we were all there to experience Scotland my friend was the biggest Outlander fan in our group and she never stopped talking about her experience and sharing the photos she took on this tour. It is an extra bittersweet memory since this was the last trip we had with her before she passed. So I want to say thank you to Struan for taking extra time to engage in wonderful conversation and answering all our questions. I look forward to that Isle of Skye tour one day.

I loved the places we visited.
Catriona is very knowledgeable and took care to explain me everything and to make me enjoy the day, even though a few places were unfortunately still closed due to covid-19.
I really recommend it.

Although the tour was amazing, and the tour guide Johnny made my experience memorable and fun, I won’t book with them again. The experience I had with them at the start of the day due to misinformation and lack of communication from them, led to a lot of disappointment and there were a lot of upset people on my tour. It did work out in the end but I will not book with them if ever I am in Scotland again. I do want to give our tour guide “red” Johnny a shout out because he was hilarious, fun and informative. Loved him.

Good Afternoon, Thank you for your review. We are so sorry that your experience in Scotland was tarnished by us. Unfortunately 2019 was an eye opener in terms of trust and a number of our suppliers, namely buses, were sub-standard and the service became unreliable, one day leaving us and our guides stranded at Stirling Castle. We are absolutely devastated that this affected our standard and also communication was lacking due to this and other issues that arose all within the same timeframe, making it difficult for us to manage. We thank you for your patience and as, a result of this last year, we have reigned back our services and offerings back to . what we do best, small, niche, quality tours with experts on Scotland, Whisky, Outlander and the history. We hope to make it up to you in the future. Yours Aye Catriona Stevenson Owner

I chose to go on two consecutive Outlander Day Trips with Slainte at the end of June - the Outlander Tour Day Trip from Edinburgh (Season 1) on the first day and the Season 2 tour on the second day. I was staying in Edinburgh for a few days and wanted to do Outlander things but also enjoy my evenings/nights in Edinburgh. Each tour is very different and I enjoyed a full experience each day of new and beautiful sights. The meeting point was a short train ride from Edinburgh - very easy to get to. My tour guides, Struan on day 1 and Barry on day 2, were both awesome! They were professional, knowledgeable, fun, and catered to our requests - even took great photos for us! Thank you for making my Outlander experiences so special, memorable and unforgettable!

Took the one tour from Edinburgh. We had great communication with Catriona as they ended up having to switch our day. It worked out fine for our schedule, and we enjoyed seeing all the sites with Helmut as our guide. My husband who is not that Outlander savvy even enjoyed the day as there is so much history behind all the sites in addition to the Outlander connections. We had a mostly sunny day and can't recommend this enough!
