- aileend4260 contributionsEnjoyable and informative art tourWe were able to book the walking art tour at short notice, having monitored the weather forecast. Our guide, Liz, was excellent - really knowledgeable, friendly and fun. Our small group of 5 included a Spaniard, a German and a French lady. Living fairly locally, we had seen many of the art works but it was fascinating to hear more about their history, the artists and the connection to their locations. Great value for money and an enjoyable outing. We will look to book other Glasgow tours.Written 14 November 2024

He was funny, very knowledgeable about all the dark stories he told and ensured the group stuck together, particularly when walking down High Street to busier streets. The stories covered a variety of true crime, myth and informative facts surrounding Glasgow's darker history. This is my first guided walking tour in Glasgow but definitely won't be my last! We went for a superb tour around the city taking in some of the amazing artwork that is on offer. Our guide Stacey was 1st class and offered lots of knowledge and insights to the work of the artists.
It’s a wee trip I would definitely recommend. I think each of the art works could benefit from a plaque telling them how to find the tour. Not the information of the piece as think that’s what helps grow the connections and understand more about where the city started and where it is heading.
Wasn’t a fan of the Radisson putting a terrible plaque on the best piece of them all, the MacIntosh.
Would of been nice to understand how other artists are being brought on as a lot of the paid for pieces were by just a handful of talented artists when I am sure there is far more that just need the chance and support to deliver.

We booked this tour a couple of weeks ago and had no idea that we'd be taking it in the torrential rain of Storm Francis. Shortly before meeting our guide Rachel we were debating whether to cancel and spend the day indoors, however, we're so glad we didn't. Rachel was warm and welcoming despite the relentless rain and wind that lasted for the whole of our walk. She was knowledgeable and captivated us with tales of the history of Glasgow. Throughout the tour Rachel managed to keep our cold and wet teens interested and involved. Both Rachel and the tour were great, I'd definitely recommend taking the tour as a way to get to know how friendly and welcoming Glasgow really is.

Despite the 'dreak' weather, the three of us really enjoyed the walking tour hosted by Erin who was a breath of fresh air. She is a proud Glaswegian, very knowledgeable & all info imparted with a sense of humour. I particularly enjoyed the murals, cathedral & Necropolis. Go along, you won't be disappointed.

So during this Covid-19 lockdown we booked this Glasgow Walking Tour to do something 'a bit different' and learn about our home city.
Erin was such a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. We learnt so much in the hour and a half tour about our dear green place. I'd thoroughly recommend the tour for both Glaswegians and those further afield.
It was an easy walk not too strenuous at all with plenty of stopping to hear the guide talk.

We were traveling with friends (so two couples) and had just four days in Edinburgh before leaving for nine days in the Highlands.
On one of our days, we decided to spend a day in Glasgow, starting with a morning walking tour and basing the balance of our day on things learned about from the tour.
We all booked the Glasgow City Centre Walking Tour for 10:30am on Monday, June 3rd. We all got up early, bought return train tickets from Edinburgh to Glasgow and were in George Square, at the doors we were to meet at prior to 10:30am. Quite a few others came, couples and larger groups. We all waited and waited.
At about 10:50am, one man waiting phoned the number on our tickets and the woman who answered said our guide should be there. She was assured he wasn’t; we were exactly where we should be. She said she’d check and call him back. We waited almost ten more minutes and finally got a call back saying he was “stuck on a train” and wouldn’t make it. The option was given to get rescheduled or receive a refund.
We chose not to waste any more of our time and requested a refund via the woman on the phone.
The couple we were traveling with have now received their refund. We have not.
That day was completely wasted. We went and found a place with wifi and tried to find another Glasgow tour but unfortunately the others we had been interested in had either already begun or were full. As the only one of the four of us to have been in Glasgow before, I took our group to the Necropolis, St. Mungo’s and Provand Lordship house (all things I’ve done before) and then we headed back to Edinburgh.
130 pound in train fare along with the yet-to-be-received refund made for a dismal day when our time was so limited.

It was a classic winter Glasgow day: cold and windy and horizontal rain. But Barbara's upbeat and cheerful demeanour saved the day and she offered us a top-notch city centre tour, including a stop at the Necropolis which was perfect for grey and stormy weather. She knows the city and its history and helped these first-time visitors to see it with fresh and a bit more knowing eyes.

Our lovely your guide, Barbara, met us at the entrance to the City Chambers. We were warmly welcomed and introduced to the group before we set off. Despite the blustery and wet autumn weather, Barbara had us hooked in from the get go with her knowledge and general enthusiasm for the history of the city. As a Scot, I was proud of how well Barbara gave an account of the snippets of history of my local city. There were a few tourists in our group and they were intrigued by the facts shared and this generated discussion as we walked through the tour routes giving us a distraction from the dreich weather. I would recommend you take this tour even if you're from Glasgow and the surrounding areas because you'll learn a thing or too. Thank you for a memorable way to spend my wedding anniversary!

Okay so it's February so you have to accept the weather might be poor. Silly us came poorly dressed and froze as a result! Lesson learned. I loved Caron's enthusiasm in this dreadful weather. You couldn't ask for a better tour guide. She was also very knowledgeable and kept us all entertained.
I'm now going to be researching further LGBTQ Glasgow as it's so very gay and I love it has a liberal and accepting history. Fortunately a list of sources is sent after the tour for you to research to your heart's content.
One thing we might have liked was to pass some of the places or go into some of the places we talked about.
But great tour!

Mary was an excellent guide with lots of interesting facts about the stops along the tour - many of which would be impossible to guess without local knowledge. Very helpful for a first-time visitor to the city to get their bearings. As I only had a day in the city I enjoyed how thorough the tour was without feeling exhausting, and would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to get to know the city better, especially for the first morning of your stay.
