About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- lorettaron0 contributionsGreat guide and excellent organisation for the trip.James was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. Being in a small group was excellent as we could ask questions and learned a lot about Scotland as well as seeing some beautiful places.Written 8 December 2024
- 731raidak0 contributionsA Magical West Coast Experience with the Best Tour guideTouring Scotland’s stunning west coast with James as our guide was exceptional! His humor, fascinating history, and lively Celtic songs brought the experience to life. We explored majestic castles, listened to tales of old clan rivalries, and ventured through brilliant mountain scenery on this unforgettable journey to the Scottish Highlands. James showcased incredible knowledge, answering all our questions—silly and serious—with patience and enthusiasm. The mix of iconic sights, hidden gems, and personal touches made the tour truly special. A huge thank you to James for creating such a magical atmosphere—I highly recommend this tour!Written 7 December 2024
- klkev0 contributionsExcellent Way to Explore the Beauty of ScotlandMy wife and I joined this 16 person tour of Loch Lemond, Inverary, Oban and Glencoe - all of which were extremely beautiful. The tour provides a very nice Mercedes mini van (not a big 50 seater often used), which allowed for greater flexibility - particularly when we wanted photos of animals (hairy coos) and glens. The tour has many stops, though my personal favourite included a stop in the highlands to Oban and Glencoe. Travelers are given about 1.5 hours to have lunch on their own and explore the port town of Oban (which has a lovely distillery). However, the real value of this tour was our guide, Jeffrey C. from Rabbie's. *Jeffery C. is very diligent and extremely knowledgeable about all things Scotland. I would strongly recommend this tour - especially with Jeffrey.Written 6 December 2024

- 429marissaa0 contributionsOverall fantasticLoved the entire tour. We had a great guide in James. Loved his humor and playlists. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and we had the right amount of stops and time to explore. Will definitely recommend this company to friends and return in the future. - Roving132667370450 contributionsPhenomenal trip to the HighlandsThis was a last minute booking, but it was a fantastic tour! I can't say portions of it weren't luck, but we made multiple stops to take stunning photos of some mountains and mountain ranges as the clouds cleared up. It felt almost like the clouds were moving for us. The whole day was beautiful. The only time it snowed was during our drive, and every time we stopped, the sky was clear and gorgeous. It's probably the best tour I've taken in a long time. Lizzie is super knowledgeable on so much history and context on the tour, she was wonderful to listen to. Highly rated.Written 23 November 2024
- haleyk2480 contributionsJeff C from Glasgow is THE BEST!!!Jeff C from Glasgow is the best tour host EVER!!! He is hilarious, friendly and fed us every wonderful detail about Scotland and the Highlands where we traveled. He made extra stops along the way, so that we could get great pictures; and yet we stayed on track and on schedule! He made us feel very safe and taken care of. I loved listening to him talk about Scottish history, as well as the great music he played; which heightened the experience as we saw the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Thank you Jeff!!Written 20 November 2024
- 516hindec0 contributionsThank you Simon !!!The highlight of our trip was our guide Simon! and knowing that we saw so many gorgeous places, this means a lot! It was our 6th with Rabbie’s, and all the guides are absolutely amazing, but we have to say that Simon was our favorite one! Not only he is full of knowledge, very nice, funny, interesting to listen to for hours, he also genuinely cares to show us the best spots and give us a great experience and we felt it! We were able to see extra stops thanks to him since we had extra time, and he could have just choose to ignore this fact and go back earlier, but not, he cared about us, and it meant a lot! He is absolutely the best! And about the tour, we absolutely this one! We were able to see so many castles, stunning landscapes, Oban is a gorgeous town, and Glencoe to finish the day, is the cherry on the top!Written 19 November 2024

- talikos0 contributionsSit back, relax and enjoy ScotlandAn excellent introduction to the Scottish highland and coastal towns. Our driver/guide had a wealth of knowledge of the landscape and the amazing stories making up this beautiful region. Frequent stops and amazing food at lunch made this an easy, sit back and relax type tour - oh, and the bag pipe road trip music just added to the charm. Thank you for an amazing day!Written 17 November 2024
- thmsa910 contributionsAnother great day with Rabbie's!This was our second tour with Rabbie's during our stay in Glasgow. We can definitely recommend this one too! The cruise on Loch Lomond is amazing, even with (or maybe especially with) mist. The visit to Stirling Castle was also very interesting. It has a lot of history (be sure to do the free guided tour!) and the panorama's of the surrounding area are beautiful. Just as with the previous Rabbie's tour, our day trip was made even better by our guide! After having spent a tour with"old" Cameron, this day our guide was "young" John. John is one of the friendliest people we've ever met. He told us some interesting and funny stories during our trip, played some very nice music, and took very good care of our group during the tour. The sights from the minibus were great too, and John has great recommendations for lunch walks as well! Rabbie's' guides really know how to elevate a day of sightseeing to an interesting, heart-warming experience. Thank you!Written 11 November 2024

Was absolutely fantastic, even had a Dougal look alike for a tour guide. Sorry Graham. He was absolutely wonderful, played great music and was very knowledgeable on the show as well as the real history of the places. I asked a question about his family history which he started answering however i fell asleep as his voice was so soothing and the ride smooth it was like i was listening to a sleep story. I mean i fell asleep as a compliment i promise. The group was small but great, everyone was enthusiastic and excited. Would do it all over again.

Of course the Outlander series chose prime locations with a lot of character, including the castles and villages, and this is what we visited throughout the day. It was a small, 13-person group and everyone enjoyed each other’s company. The scenery along the way was beautiful. Grant was the driver/guide and he was excellent. Great sense of humor, a lot of historical facts shared, periodically played music (introduced us to CaperCaillie). He made the trip a lot of fun. Highly recommend this trip.

Doune Castle, Falkland and Blackness were all great Outlander locations to see, but we felt these would have been lacking if one of our group had not been knowledgeable about what there was to see in these locations, as the guides just dropped us off and left us to our own devices. Culross was the best in terms of it actually being a guided tour, as our guide Ben had been an extra on the show and had filmed his scenes in Culross. So he was very knowledgeable about this area. We were also a little disappointed that 2 of the 6 locations we were supposed to visit were left off the tour, one of which is closed for filming, the other is closed for renovations. We understand that this happens, but they only told us at the start of the tour that we would not be visiting one of these places, not that both would be left off. We felt they should have been up-front about this, and maybe included another location as a result. We passed Deanston Distillery on the way to Doune, and felt they could have substituted this for the missing locations?

Had Jeff C from Glasgow as a tour guide- he was excellent & gave us loads of really interesting info about the places we went, and about the area in general. Perfect even if you're not an Outlander fan- there's more than enough info given for the tour to be engaging without knowing anything about the show. Thanks for a great tour!

As an exchange student in the UK for the fall, this trip was the one thing I wanted to do most in my travels here. I was not disappointed! My driver was Alistair, and not only did he manage some pretty heavy rains, but he was funny and knowledgeable and really made the trip a lot of time. It was a good number of hours on the bus, but broken up rather well.
We went to Midhope Castle (Lallybroch), Blackness Castle (Fort William), the village of Falkland (has the fountain where Jamie’s ghost looks up at Claire in the window and the shop whose window Claire looks in for a vase), Doune Castle (Castle Leoch and also a filming location for Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Game of Thrones’ Winterfell), and the village of Culross (Cranesmuir).
We saw lots of sheep and beautiful landscapes along the way, so even if you aren’t an Outlander fan, this is still a wonderful way to see the country! Well worth every penny and would happily go again. Thank you!!!!

Our driver, Cameron, was the best! He provided outstanding information on the history of Scotland with a great sense of humor. He is a talented and entertaining story teller, extremely knowledgeable about the era as well as other pertinent facts. The smaller busses were much better, in my opinion, and the coach was clean and well maintained. The only thing that wasn’t great was the main bus station where we were picked up…not the fault of the tour company just a bit too much overall confusion.
I highly recommend Rabbie’s, The Outlander Adventure Day Tour from Glasgow, and most especially Cameron!

My friend and I had one full day together to explore outside of Edinburgh and Glasgow on our whirlwind trip recently. Although we are both fans of the show, I had not even finished season 2 at the time we booked this tour. We were drawn to it because it was a slightly shorter day than some of the other Rabbie's tours, and included admission to multiple sites.
Here to say - DO NOT skip out on this tour because of the Outlander theme. Cameron ("old" Cameron as he told us to clarify - LOL) was absolutely outstanding as a guide. He struck a perfect balance of knowing the filming details of the show and also sharing general Scottish history in a really engaging way, including a lot of music to help him share the stories.
The actual tour stops were all lovely. Was hard to believe we were actually not so far from the big city hustle and bustle while we were out there!
When, not if, I return to Scotland, Rabbie's will be top of my list for tours after this experience. They more than deserve their 5 star rating here.

What a fantastic experience! Saw major filming sites for the series (Lallybroch!!!!! 😍), and learned the history behind each of them. Grant was our wonderful guide who is quite knowledgeable about the areas we went to and Scottish history in general—I was very impressed. He took great care of us as a group and really made the experience enjoyable. I also appreciated his driving skills quite a bit, having been on other bus tours that were lacking in that regard. All that, and he’s damn funny, too! Overall just a fantastic day. Thanks, Grant!

Excellent tour, our Guide Caitlin was always very inquisitive and friendly. She tells several stories about Scotland during the tour. Visits to castles and locations are free, they are not guided, so if you expect a Guide 100% of the time, this is not your type of tour. But for what I was looking for, I ⁇ it a lot, it was a memorable day with all the beautiful scenery of Scotland and right the soundtrack of the Outlander during the Trips between one point and another.

There were mechanical issues causing a delay in pick up and we had a driver that was not to be having the tour for the day. Gary was amazing and adapted well, though! He was a wealth of information for both Outlander and history. He adapted so well to the individuality of the group and allowed good time at each place we stopped at. Wish there would have been an audio tour for Blacktree Castle as there was so much to see and Alot of steps!!
Midhope Castle was amazing, but note you do have to pay extra on top of the tour fee to even get on to the grounds of it!
Would recommend, but note there is a large amount of walking for someone who may have problems with that.

The description states customer pick up available at Greenock Ocean Terminal. How do we verify this option, and are there other hidden charges we should know about?
Written 16 January 2020
There was only one pick up available last October, Glasgow City Centre and only costs are entry fees to two Castles. The fees are minimal and it's your choice, there is plenty to see in the surroundings.
