    You won’t regret this walk
This is a straightforward, honest and thoughtful walking tour. He’s open to all questions and answers with more sophistication than most appreciate. Adds some quirky details, proud of Glasgow heritage and far superior to stiff necked Blue guides.

A great way to learn more about the city. Johnny knows his stuff and then some and is an entertaining guide who mixes facts, anecdotes and stories together to bring all things Glasgow to life. Highly recommended

The tour with Johnny yesterday was absolutely great! He told us plenty of facts and anecdotes about the city, in a very thorough and fun-filled tour. Johnny really knows how to captivate his audience. I highly recommend this tour: you won't be disappointed.

    Iron Bru, bruv!
We had an amazing tour with John!! Despite the rain, bit of chilly wind it was great fun! For myself not so much into architecture, but the additional stories really had us carried away. And I can't believe he had an Iron Bru for all of us to try- we found our new fav drink!! The sun peeked through near the end of the tour, giving us the opportunity to take some nice photos. Definetely would recommend! Greetings, Ulises & Vicky

    What a treat!
I went a few weeks ago on this walking tour of Glasgow and all I can say is that it was absolutely brilliant! Johnny, the guide, is so warm and welcoming - he made a point of learning everyone's names and talking a bit with everyone of us during the tour - which makes the experience so enjoyable. He's also very knowledgeable and apart from all the information about the city he gave us a lot of recommendations for places to have food, drinks, etc. It was also interesting to see a couple of pubs and street art, which doesn't seem to be that common in other city tours. This is definitely something I'd recommend doing if you ever come to lovely Glasgow as it will give you a good general idea of the city and its history. We also got to try some Irn Bru, which is a must for any Scotland newbies ;)

    Detail and Dandy
If you want to experiance the real Glasgow and learn some insightful history, then this a great tour. Johnny, our host, was superb. He is a typical Glaswegian and an excellent tour guide. Very courtieous and polite. He goes to great lengths to ensure everyone is able to hear him above the traffic and city noise, something many tour guides are very poor at. He is very knowledgeable and quite entertaining. I would highly recommend.

Best free walking tour I've attented
Highly recommend this free walking tour with Johnny! He was probably the most enthusiastic guide we've ever had. He made an effort to remember everyone's name and make sure we were all enjoying the tour. Full of fun facts and historical knowledge, and he even gave us a little treat mid-way! :-) Definitely worth the wet feet and cold noses.

“People make Glasgow” - true that!
I can honestly say that we couldn’t be more lucky: the walking tour around Glasgow with Johnny was one of the best guided tours me and my wife ever attended! In just 3 hours we managed to see so many interesting places: from the major sights to some very authentic and atmospheric hidden places in the heart of the city - really breathtaking!😱🤗 And I would also like to thank John - this man is a professional who truly loves Glasgow and shares these positive feeling with everyone 🙏🏻 We had some interesting conversations and got a lot of good recommendations and hints how to spend the rest of the day! The tour is definitely a must when you visit Glasgow (and it’s 100% worth coming from Edinburgh for at least one day as we did:)

    HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Fantastic walking tour with Johnny! Thoroughly enjoyed our 3+hour tour of Glasgow - a great way to see the city during a quick weekend trip. He keeps the groups small, something like 15 people or less. He is very enthusiastic and passionate about Glasgow and knows his stuff! Absolutely recommend as we enjoyed our time learning about Glasgow with Johnny!

    Amazing walking Tour of Glasgow
This free walking tour lead by Johnny was by far one of the best I have ever been on. Johnny is an enthusiastic and very welcoming guy who made this historical and cultural walk through Glasgow one to remember, thoroughly engaging throughout, which made it easy to forget the cold weather! Also, the gift of a tinny if Irun Bru was a perfect touch. Would recommend Glasgow Gander to anyone visiting Glasgow - and Johnny is definitely worth the tip! Great tour by a great guy - thank you!

    Great Walking Tour of Glasgow
We only had 1 full day in Glasgow visiting family but wanted to learn about the history and layout of Glasgow we couldnt have picked a better tour with Johnnie !! he was great, really knew his history and made the tour so interesting and fun that we barely noticed the cold wet windy snowy weather that was in it !! seriously wrap up warm and make sure you have good headgear as an umbrella is useless with the wind. we broke ours!! But the tour flew by so quicky that we were disappointed when it ended. cudnt visit the necropolis at the end as the new Batman was being filmed there that weekend!! Am definitely gona return in the summer as want to visit other parts of the city that Jonnie recommended. i give him 5 stars and HIGHLY recommend this tour. He was so helpful with recommendations . i would go again!!

Johnny's tour was one of the highlights of our 2-week trip to Scotland. He is so kind, so knowledgeable, so funny, and so enthusiastic about his city that you couldn't help but love "Mother Glasgow" afterwards. We hired him for a private tour for 12 that was very similar to his usual itinerary. We all left total fans of the city and of Johnny and would encourage everyone to use his services. You will not be disappointed! So much better than my tour with another provider in Edinburgh that there really is no comparison.

My partner and I had just one day in Glasgow, using it to break up our journey home from the Highlands and Islands
As we only had a short time we thought a walking tour would be an ideal way to see and understand a little more about the city.
Johnny’s tour was ideal, he spoke so passionately about his city, its history, architecture and its people.
We learnt so much and he kept our interest for an amazing three hours.
We loved some of the quirky venues he took us to as well as listening to his take on some of the amazing murals that can be found in the city.
I would recommend this tour to anyone, whether you are visiting for the first time or a returning visitor Johnny can give a wonderful insight into the city that he is so proud of.
He even sent an email afterwards with a long list of places to visit/things to see/do for our next trip to Glasgow.

Johnny is absolutely fabulous! He is so knowledgeable about the rich history of the city and you can tell how much he enjoys sharing and touring others around "Mother Glasgow" as well as meeting new people from all over the world and getting to know them. His love for the city architecture and Glasgow's colorful past is contagious. I would not only recommend booking a tour with Johnny, but also making it one of the first things you do while in Glasgow since he does an excellent job helping you feel acquainted with the city as well as giving you significant building markers to help you pinpoint your relative location that helps while venturing on your own. Johnny also gave us excellent insight and recommendations for traveling around town, best spots for specific food and great entertainment venues and other suggestions to help fill our trip itinerary. He even guided us for a quick round of Tennant's beer into a quaint pub with amazing original furnishings that made us feel like we had stepped into a time capsule. Getting to your the Cathedral and Necropolis at our own pace at the end was so nice as well as getting some delicious "Cocomon" coffee just outside the gates of the cemetery. If I had to give Johnny and Gander Walking Tours a rating from 1 to 10, they'd get a 15!

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Glasgow Gander Walking tour and I was impressed. Johnny provides a really great tour of Glasgow. Johnny is an expert on Glasgow history and he really tells a lot of stories about the history and architecture that I had never heard before. Throughout the 3 hours, we walked through the inner city and he pointed out many buildings and places that the normal tourist might have missed. He also was nice enough to book our entrance to the Glasgow Cathedral. Afterwards, he sent me a mail with a great list of recommendations of local picks of restaurants and things to do. I highly recommend this tour if you want a great overview of Glasgow from a real expert.

Had a wonderful time with our guide Johnny. His love of Glasgow is obvious as he tells you about the colourful history of the city. We learned about the various well-known landmarks and saw some hidden gems. Johnny was also very kind in answering any questions we had about recommendations for restaurants and other activities for after the tour.

Would recommend people to take the tour during their first or second day in Glasgow to give you time to use Johnny’s recommendations and revisit some of the places you see along the tour.

This walking tour was the first activity I did in Glasgow and I would highly recommend it to any visitor. My guide gave a terrific overview of the city, it’s history, colourful stories and perhaps most importantly gave me my bearings before I was about to spend several days in the City.

I was even able to share some of the knowledge I gained on the tour with my friend who has lived in Glasgow for 2 years!

The guides passion for his City was clear and by the time I was finished I was eager to continue exploring.

"People make Glasgow" is the city's motto, and Johnny, the Glasgow gander and tour guide extraordinaire, truly honours it. A few months before our visit, I reached out to Johnny to set up a private walking tour for my partner and myself. He responded swiftly and enthusiastically, putting together a 6-hour tour based on our desires and interests. We communicated back and forth several times in the lead up to our actual visit; Johnny was always very generous and thorough in his recommendations.

We've taken private walking tours in plenty of cities, but 6 hours was a first. To be honest, we were a bit apprehensive about the length, but the time absolutely flew by and we ended up spending nearly 7 hours in Johnny's wonderful company. He's so so knowledgeable about the city, but he's also a fantastic story teller, which means it never felt like he was lecturing or imparting us with his knowledge. Johnny led us around the essential sights, but also parts of the city that we wouldn't have taken the time to explore by ourselves, and explained things we would never have known about. He knows what makes a tour interesting, and truly delivers on it.

You can tell Johnny truly cares about the people who take his tour. We felt a genuine connection as we shared a bite and a pint. Whether you opt for a group tour or private tour, Johnny's passion and knowledge will make you see Glasgow in the best of lights! I second what another reviewer said: this is THE best walking tour, ever!

Jonny led our tour and he was just the most fantastic guide. His passion and knowledge for the city of Glasgow shone through like we have never experienced before on any other walking tour. This is simply great value for your money, the sites we saw, and the time Jonny took to make the tour personalized to us as Canadians was just sensational. At the end of the tour he sent us so many recommendations for things to do and experience in Glasgow we’re going to have to come back to enjoy them again. If you can start your stay with this tour in Glasgow, you are sure to get the most out of your stay. We simply put had the best time ever, the people make Glasgow.

A fantastic few hours exploring Glasgow in the company of the amazingly knowledgeable Johnny.
We heard about everything from architecture to shipyards, from saints to pubs and from Nelson Mandela to traffic cones.
All explained beautifully, with a great flow to the Glasgow story and plenty of humour and anecdotes thrown in.
100% recommend this tour to anyone with at least a few hours to spare in Glasgow.

This was the best experience in all of Glasgow! We got to see much of the beautiful city, learn about the history and culture and architecture, and Johnny was witty, knowledgeable and incredibly engaging. This is a must-do experience. We never would have been able to see or learn as much without this fun walking tour. Easy walking and fascinating details. You’ll be glad you did this.
