Vincent mixes ghost stories, pop culture tales, academic knowledge, and charm to make an intriguing tour well worth the time.
I'm a lover of all things Gothic, whether that mean goth clubs, gothic literature, or macabre stories. At the same time, I don't have much patience for pretentiousness.
So, Vincent's tour was very up my alley. He was a showman, but one with a casual flair. He's great at small talk, and easily pivoted and adapted when unexpected things happened (it was a Saturday night in Glasgow, after all). Never did it feel like I was being lectured: it was involved the whole way through.
Even better, Vincent hits a wide array of topics. There's some regular history sprinkled in with the ghost stories, and pop culture tales that bookend literature knowledge. All while you get to walk through the beautiful city of Glasgow and see some incredible architecture. In short: while the tour is best for spooky lovers, everyone can find something to enjoy, even if they're just going because *that friend* wants to go. That said, if you *only* want spooky stories, it might not be the show for you.
Besides: for 12 pounds and a couple hours of your time long after the museums close but before a lot of shows and clubs open, it's a wonderful way to spend some time.

The tour gave an overview of the city but keep in mind that are long stretches of walking which felt "empty" despite the many stops pointing out different places that had nothing to do with Gothic. It was interesting, for sure! I saw a lot of things I hadn't before but I felt cheated out of the spooky part. The stories were interesting and there were many props to act them out as well as some fun songs (great voice!). The guide also did his best to interact with everyone in the tour.
As this is the only "scary" tour in the city, there is no competition to compare it to unlike in Edinburgh which was where I had been just before. There, the "ghost tours" were all spooky/gory stories and nothing else, which I preferred.
Either way, I would recommend this tour for people who want a walk around Glasgow with a mix of history and spooky stories.

Thanks for your review Mathilde. Gothic Glasgow is a two hour walking tour covering Dracula's Scottish Connections, several notorious Glasgow Murder Cases, The world of Body Snatching and numerous Ghostly encounters from Glasgow's history. Along the route we also point out buildings of historical interest like the Mackintosh Tea Rooms, George Sq, Glasgow City Chambers. Many of our customers are only staying in Glasgow for one night, and we want to show them as much of the city as possible in their short time here.
As the tour progresses from Point A to Point B, there will be moments when the guide is not telling stories. When you say there were long stretches of walking that felt 'empty', I do not know what you expected. We cannot move the location of buildings or streets or the walking time required to get there. This is the same for all walking tours.
As you can see, the reviews for Gothic Glasgow are overwhelmingly positive and we feel the content of the tour is working well.
Thanks, Vincent

I happened to attend this tour twice the last week I was in Glasgow and each time was a lot of fun. Vincent clearly enjoys what he does and gains a lot of energy from his audience. Spooky and with a good few moments to send shivers down your spine!! The tour itself is a fun way to see Glasgow and you feel well prepared to head back onto the streets the next day and look around, as the tour takes in some of the more well-known streets and sights, while not feeling too touristy, at the same time - if that makes sense? Highly recommended. My partner enjoyed this and was one of Vincent's "victims" (I suppose I shouldn't do the evil laugh here should I?!) And my Australian and London based friends also really enjoyed it - especially the horror movie and literature references.

A real fun couple of hours with Vincent.
Stories and history for everyone.
A personable and fun character who makes a ton of effort with the guests… excellent value, we will also visit some of the spots he recommended that we wouldn’t have otherwise.
Go go go!!!

Vincent is a great tour guide and very passionate and knowledgeable about the city and it’s history. Myself and my girlfriend were part of a small 3 person group which was great as we got to ask a lot of questions. Make an effort to throw yourself in to the experience and be open minded about the supernatural stories Vincent will share with you.
I recommend doing this on your first days in the city as he will point out lots of great places to go back and visit for the rest of your trip.
Thanks Vincent!

Vincent is an incredible tour guide. His storytelling ability and research he’s put into this tour is astounding and he takes the time and effort to connect with every person on the tour. It was amazing to see and hear about a wide range of Glasgow history, but he’s what really makes this tour special. Vincent really goes above and beyond and I can easily say it was one of the highlights of my trip.

Glasgow was always know to us for its nightlife and drinking culture which is why we visit the City.
I was startled with the fear of another drinking day one hungover morning and knew I couldn't handle another night on the sauce and so found the Gothic Walking Tour and booked in for that evening.
My first impressions of meeting Vincent was that the evening was going to be a good one - he certainly looked the part and had an eery presence about him that told you he knew allot about the dark and macabre history of the city.
We were in a small group, the other guests were American which made the tour that much more interesting for the little chats we were able to have between the stop points.
Overall, the night was unexpected, haunting, informative and Vincent was a fantastic story teller.
It was so good that when I visit Glasgow, I'll definitely be going again!
I couldn't recommend it enough!!!

We joined Victor, the Man in the Hat, on 25th November as a family group and had a great time! The tour was very informative - even to born in Glasgow folks like us. Victor is a great narrator and involves group members - whether reluctant or not! My daughter and I aren't fans of the creepy people jumping out to scare you kind of tours and rest assured, this wasn't one of those. I would thoroughly recommend this tour for a different kind of evening.

Vincent is excellent and very passionate with his craft. He gave us a spooky gothic & even ungothic Glasgow tour along with recommendations on books, food and drinks! We finished the tour knowing more facts & stories about Glasgow that will encourage you to read more about it. I highly recommend this tour especially on your first night in Glasgow as it familiarises you with the city. Thanks for the amazing tour, Vincent!

I visited Glasgow last week for a short break. I was looking to do something other than visiting a few of Glasgows great pubs and I came across a flyer for 'Gothic Glasgow' in the hotel. When I booked I was instructed to meet up at The Kings Theatre. When I arrived I met 'The man in the hat' the intriguing and slightly sinister, Vincent. What followed over the next 100 minutes or so was a thoroughly fascinating tour through the dark streets of this wonderful city. It's dark history, it's horror and stunning architecture. My favourite part was at The Ramshorn church where we were regaled by Vincent with tales of grave robbing and the vicious tools involved. Vincent was an excellent tour guide. As he is not a native of Glasgow, I have to commend him on his research and obvious enthusiasm for his adopted city. I highly recommend it.
