About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- BrianB8110 contributionsBack in time at Cawdor Castle & Culloden BattlefieldThis was an excellent tour, the castle was very interesting with its period items and architecture. The Culloden Battlefield archives building was full of history and the battlefield gave a sense of what the battle may have been like. Much like visiting a US Civil War battle site. Well worth our time.Written 9 November 2024
- rileyboy2240 contributionsI will see you again Scotland!Sarah was an excellent tour guide! She took us to all of the places we wanted to see and more. She provided us with so much of knowledge and history about the places we went. She spoke so emotionally and proudly of her Scottish heritage, she made us proud of our Scottish ancestors! We loved our time with her and wish it was longer.Written 17 October 2024
- rosalyns4840 contributionsA great time in the Highlands!Richie was phenomenal. He was knowledgeable on the area and the book and series Outlander😀. He even ensured we saw Nessie. I was nervous booking an excursion not provided by the cruise, but no longer. The experience was so much better with a small group and we were able to see more. Better value than ship excursions.Written 4 October 2024
- 644mindyd0 contributions100% HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Best Decision We Made!WOW! WOW! WOW! Absolutely AMAZING! BEST DAY EVER! Go Highlands Tours was INCREDIBLE! We’ve done several private tours around Europe over the years & this beat them all! We had a large group of 8 (with ages ranging from 19-78) all strong headed women with 1 male. George was the perfect guide to handle our crazy group. Lots of character & stories of his childhood growing up there. We hit so many sites & learned so much history & stories of their culture. We laughed so hard & saw so much. George knew everyone & by the time we left we felt like family. It was hands down the best money we spent! All of us agreed that it was our favorite tour & would love to go back & do it again. We are all sad to leave this sweet country that we have felt so welcomed in. Thank you Go Highlands Tour for an AMAZING DAY!!!Written 22 September 2024
- ingelisj20230 contributionsTrue Scottish Weather? Still a great time! All though the sun was not shining had a great time with Sarah who took us to Dunrobin castle, Dornoch and more (truly appreciated the more). She pointed out sites that you might not have looked at originally.Written 18 September 2024
- cindywJ5620MQ0 contributionsHighly recommend and ask for George for your guideOmg we had George for our tour !!! He just made my day. He is funny and wow the knowledge this man possesses. He made my dream trip to Culloden memorable. And he had me laughing all the way through the Clava Cairns If you book with them ask for George. He was by far one of the best tour guides of our dream trip. We will not forget him anytime soon.Written 11 September 2024
- JoyceWhoLovesToTrave0 contributionsThree Wonderful Days Exploring the Highlands with Go HighlandsWe booked directly with Go Highlands for three custom days for our family of six. Alastair was super helpful during the planning phase and put together a terrific itinerary given our interests. We were delighted when Alastair arrived to pick us up in a comfortable private van. He's a terrific guide and shared his love of the Highlands, the history of the areas we visited, and his own personal stories which were quite interesting and entertaining. On our third day, George, Alastair's business partner, took us out for the day and we had a really fun day of Scottish culture and great story telling. He too was a wonderful and entertaining companion for the day. We will definitely book with them again on our next trip to the Highlands.Written 8 September 2024
- Dances4Fun20150 contributionsInvergordon Cruise Tour to Outlander SitesGeorge's of Go Highlands provided us with a great small group excursion to Outlander sites in Scotland. We had a great time listening to his stories and visiting the sites. Clava Cairns, Culloden Battlefield, Urquart Castle and Loch Ness. Great tour that got us back to the ship in Invergordon right on time.Written 3 September 2024
- jodylk0 contributionsAmazing stepping back in time with the OutlanderSarah did an amazing job. Information was very thorough and fascinating. Really liked the Loch Ness Center stop for the gin tasting and a bite to eat.Written 30 August 2024
- AriKukkonen0 contributionshighly recommended, we had a blast!from reserving to the returning to ship, all were handled beatifully nice. Also our guide, Alistair, was really cool guy. Easy to talk to and lot’s of knowledge about the area. Car was clean and good.Written 22 August 2024
- AriKukkonen0 contributionsWeather was warm and sunny, which highlighted a great day with this excursion. Our guide was Alistair, who was really excellent tour guide. Wide knowledge and passion for all things not only around Inverness but also Scotland. Highly recommend! Also the sites we visited were really good, I think we got most of our cruise stop in InvergordonWritten 22 August 2024
- sharonmY1242GH0 contributionsGreat experience!! Clava Ciarn, Colloden Battlefield, Cawdor Castle.Alistair our guide was most informative and entertaining. We had a great time. Small group. Due to weather we opted to change some of our plans which worked for all of the group.Written 16 August 2024
- 619reinhardp0 contributionsFantastic Tour with lots of things to see !!!We booked our tour directly with Go Highlands Tours. fast and easy booking, at an affordable price. When arriving at Invergordon port with Aida, we were surprised of being the only guests for this tour. So Alastair made it a remarkable private tour for us. He showed us all around the interesting and fascinating places, had a lot to explain and really some in-depth knowledge on the history of the Scottish clans and the riots against the British. We had plenty of time, no stress at all, a nice and clean car. Alastair made it a remarkable trip for us and I would recommend everyone to book there - we also met George, the other owner of Go Highlands - and he seems a one-of-a-kind man. So, both guides are great. We´re certainly coming back to Scotland. And- by the way- the weather was quite okay !!!Written 12 August 2024
- T7776OJpamf0 contributionsBOOK A TOUR WITH GO HIGHLANDS. You won't regret it!George with Go Highlands was the ultimate tour guide! He gave us a lot of history, showed us specific areas that were of interest to us, catered the day to our wishes, and we had wonderful conversation with him all day. He made us feel like we were old friends. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GO HIGHLANDS and will book them the next time I am in Scotland.Written 11 August 2024
- Dream5438900 contributionsExcellent! This was such a wonderful tour. Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. We were on a smaller can with our family or 4 and one other couple. It was the perfect mix between driving around and time to explore. Our tour guide made small adjustments based on our interests. I would highly recommend!Written 25 July 2024

We visited inverness last week and we booked this tour as we had only one day for inverness. It was an amazing experience in a rare sun drenched day in scottish highlands. Our guide George Murray, a local lad dressed in a kilt, was fantastic. He made our tour so fun and special. He is very thorough with the scottish history and the history of the region. Some tourist attractions were still not fully open but George did not let us feel the void. He is full of local stories about kings, queens, battles and monsters.
I highly recommend this to anybody who visit highlands as this will make your tour a different experience.

This was one of the best tours I have ever been on! George made it an experience we will never forget. His story telling truly made each of the sites come to life while being super informative on Scottish history. It was a great mixture of sites, history and some gin! He even went out of his way to show us some Highlander cows! I would highly recommend this tour!

George was an amazing guide for our lovely trip to the Highlands. He was accommodating in every way and made sure a special request was honored. Coming out of post pandemic for our first trip, we were thrilled to spend time in Scotland. We felt comfortable with George right away and enjoyed his commentary. You won’t be disappointed!

To whom it may concern:
We are very disappointed that you only refunded us half of the cost of the tour. Please be aware that Robert had an accident in Reykjavik on Sept. 5th, and Robert and his wife had to disembark from the ship and go to the local Hospital. We did not come back to the ship until late on the 8th. We had been in remote areas and airports in order to join the ship again at Inverness, and we were not able to communicate through our cell phone with Trip Advisor or the Tour guide in a timely manner.
We feel that the refund you gave us is not fair under the circumstances, and would ask you to please review our case.

We were so lucky - we had George to ourselves! As he said himself prior to picking us up from our hotel he was easily recognisable, resplendent in his kilt.
First stop was Clava Cairns, an almost mystical prehistoric burial site in a beautiful setting. Then on to Culloden where we spent time wandering the battlefield, made more emotive by seeing where various Chieftans had fallen.
Then on to something completely different - the Caledonian Canal at Dochgarroch Lock before heading to the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre (and yes, we did see Nessie!)
Our final stop was at the ruins of Beauly Priory.
As promised it was fun and full of interesting stories.
Many thanks again George!

Alistair was a fabulous tour guide, filled with knowledge and enthusiasm for his subjects. He had clear explanations for all aspects of the day, and showed us the very best vantage points from which to explore each stop. He was funny, warm and friendly, and this turned out to be a highlight of our long circumnavigation by train of Great Britain. The other three guests aboard were friendly, too, which enhanced the experience. Highly recommended!

We toured with George for a multigenerational family trip and had a wonderful experience! George is a fabulous tour guide, and we so appreciated the personal stories and the time he took with us each individually! George was able to bring Clava Cairns alive through his stories, and we were also able to fully explore and learn the history of Culloden and Castle Urquhart, and to top it all off, we had a yummy lunch and stop at the Great Glen distillery to sample (and purchase!) the best gin in the Highlands! 10 out of 10 recommend.

This was one of the very best tours that we have ever experienced. Our driver and tour guide was George, who I understand is one of the owners. He was born and raised outside Inverness-shared with us a most insightful perspective as to the area, its history and its people. We were the on,y four in his van and had dialogue the entire time. Since the day was quite cold and windy, he suggested substituting Cawdor Castle for Urquhart Castle, which was only an outdoor ruin. I have been fortunate over the years to take many guided tours-this is in the top 5 if not #1!

This tour was awesome! George Murray made it fun and was very knowledgeable about the places we went to. It was a great way to see things that we wouldn’t have known otherwise. He picked us up at our hotel, the van was comfortable and clean and the conversation was fun. I highly recommend this tour!!

George was incredible on the tour! It was a great day sightseeing and hearing stories about the area. We really enjoyed learning more about Clava Cairns. Plus we received some Outlander fun facts along the way! Would recommend to friends and family traveling to the Highlands.
