Exceptional tour with a local flair!
George was an incredible guide! Friendly, knowledgeable, and a great storyteller. He perfectly tailored the tour around the group’s interest - everything from history to geology to modern Scotland. I highly recommend his tour!

      Great day!
George was incredible on the tour! It was a great day sightseeing and hearing stories about the area. We really enjoyed learning more about Clava Cairns. Plus we received some Outlander fun facts along the way! Would recommend to friends and family traveling to the Highlands.

Must go trip - Trip of a life time. !
My wife & I spent 14 days in Scotland September & October 2023. We started speaking with Alastair several months before our trip and got on WhatsApp a couple of times. Alastair truly enjoys helping people enjoy their Holiday! We did most of our trip as self-guides thanks to Alister encouraging us that we would do great on our own. He set up a 2-day Stalking adventure for us in the Highlands, we stayed in the Royal Dornoch Golf Hotel which is a beautiful place, and we don't golf. He picked us up and took us to the estate to meet the owners who he knows it was an amazing adventure for me and my wife and she is not a hunter. Two exceptional stalks and of course Alastair set us up with a Taxidermist as well. We also went on a couple day trips with Alastair. We met up with George at Clava Cairns where he had a couple folks with him. These guys just enjoy helping you enjoy your time. Plenty of knowledge of history and locations as your driving around. Alister is just a phone call away before, during and after your Holiday. He seems like an old friend! Give him a call. Our trip to Scotland was a trip of a lifetime, we did it all with the help of Alastair. We flew into Edinburgh drove to Glencoe, took the car ferry to Skye, drove the NC500, meet up with Alastair in Dornoch, went to Pitlochry, St. Andrews and back to Edinburgh. Wow what a great adventure. We actually did a private tour with Alastair for 2 days around highlands after our stalking adventure. Great Time. Slainte Mhath Mark and Janell

      Fantastic Highland Tour
George was a fantastic tour guide 👍, we met up at Starbucks at 9am and our first stop was Clava Cairns and George’s knowledge and personal insight of the place was amazing. We next went to Culloden Battlefield and went through the museum before walking out onto the field and looking around. Next we went to Loch Ness where we visited a little distillery called Great Glen Distillery where we were treated to some taste testing some great Gins 🤤. Our next stop was Urquhart Castle where the views were breathtaking and the history was very interesting. My friend Andrena and I were the only 2 people on this private tour and at know point felt we were rushed. George went out of his way to see her f he could find some highland cows for me to see on the way home. Thank you George for a magnificent and memorable day spent in the highlands from 2 very impressed Aussies 😊

      Dunrobin Castle is a must-see!
Our cruise ship was 30 minutes late, but Go Highlands waited and sent us on our way in the private van with 5 of us. We were told ahead of time that George would be our guide, but he wasn't, unfortunately. Our guide was ok, but we couldn't hear him in the back seats, and he just didn't seem that interested. First stop was Glenmorangie Distillery, but it wasn't open yet. (You'd think the guide would have known that.) We did get to see the Millionaire's Viewpoint and lots of scenery before reaching Dunrobin Castle. It is an amazing site inside and out. Wandering throughout the castle was informative and each room was full of interesting items. The gardens are spectacular. We ended up back in Dornoch where we were left on our own to explore the cathedral and the small town area. Our guide did offer to stop by Glenmorangie on the way back to the port, but we were running short on time by then and declined. Overall, a good way to spend the time in port to see The Highlands but, to be honest, this particular private tour experience didn't compare as favorably to the many others we've done elsewhere.

      Awful not as advertized
Just returned from this tour. Our experience was not a good one. Unless you get George or Alastair as a guide, do NOT book through GoHolidays. The tour guide was obnoxious, not very knowledgeable and culture biased. He expressed that a majority of Americans are all obese (we are not) Asians are rude and pushy,Italians are crazy, etc. He did not take us to the sights that the company advertised. Told us he was uncircumcised and so much more. We did not confront him as we did not want to get dropped off on the side of the road. His name is Kay. In all fairness I asked for a partial refund which I did receive. After reading more reviews when I returned this company has refunded numerous people for their tours. Keep that in mind before booking

Bespoke Tour of Inverness and Surrounding Area
From the initial conversations with Alastair discussing our bespoke tour, I felt I had chosen the right company. Due to some issues with our rental car, we had to make some last minute changes to our pick up and schedule, and Alastair was very communicative and accommodating. His van was clean and comfortable. We were travelling with 3 generations (21 to 85) and he went out of his way to make sure everyone got the most out of the experience. He was very helpful with my father who has some mobility issues. Alastair is an excellent tour guide. His personal experiences, attentiveness and historical knowledge added so much to our experience. We spent a full day travelling to Beauly, Dog Falls in Glen Affric, Loch Ness with Urquhart Castle, Culloden Battlefield and the Clava Cairns. We could have driven ourselves but we would not have gotten as much from the tour without Alastair. He went out of his way to provide a great experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and I would highly recommend Alastair and Go Highlands tours!

      A perfect combination
We loved the historic nature of the sites visited, hosted by a knowledgeable and personable guide; the perfect combination that ensures getting the most out of the experience. Highly recommend and would definitely hire Alastair or George again if the opportunity arises.

      Fun day at historical sites
This was an amazing day full of interesting facts and stunning sites. Douglas was fun and knowledgeable. We were the only 2 people on the tour and he gave us extra time to enjoy ourselves and took us to a few sites off the route. Maybe my favorite day in Scotland

Great transport experience from INV airport to Dornoch
Just simple pickup from Inverness airport up to Dornoch and back. Was a real treat to listen to George give me a tour in the car on the way up and Alastair the same on the way back. Very nice gentlemen and will use them again.

      PERFECT Outlander Tour!
Our GO HIGHLANDS tour was PERFECT! George was an amazing tour guide—10 out of 10 in every way! He shared the history of Scotland with wonderful stories as we drove from one fascinating and beautiful place to another. We visited Clava Cairns, Colloden, Urquhart Castle, Great Glen Distillery, stopped for lunch and shopped for souvenirs. George was attentive and adjusted our time/stops accordingly. We have traveled all over the world, and George at GO HIGHLANDS was the best tour guide ever. Would book again in a heartbeat! P. S. Yes, he wore a kilt and accoutrements! Wendy

George was the best! We got detoured on our cruise and ended up choosing this as a private tour at our stop here. It was a great day! George was an excellent guide with tons of knowledge. Would definitely recommend and do this again! Thank you for making this one of our most memorable days of our cruise!

I highly recommend this tour for any Outlander fans, but also for anyone who wants to learn about the storied history of the Scottish Highlands. I personally have not seen Outlander, but my fiancé is a massive fan which is why we initially booked this tour. However, I would recommend this tour for anyone visiting Inverness. Our tour guide George was an amazing storyteller, highly knowledgable, and had a great sense of humor. We spent the perfect amount of time at each of locations and heard the stories and myths only a genuine Highlander would know. I would definitely recommend booking this tour with George it was a 10/10 experience and made Inverness one of our favorite and most memorable stops in Scotland.

George did a phenomenal job giving us a tour of all the Outlander sites. He was very accommodating and picked us up at the airport right after we landed and then dropped us off at the train station so we could continue our trip. He also gave us the rich history that Inverness had to offer. Highly highly recommend taking this tour!!

My Mom and I came up to Inverness for a long weekend in January - just to get a taste of the Highlands, and to escape the city... We had an absolutely wonderful time. A definite highlight was our tour with George from Go Highlands.

He was so friendly and knowledgable, and willing to customise the trip to our needs - as mobility was an issue for us.

I highly recommend George for this tour, or any other Highland adventure you have in mind, and don't think it isn't a great place to visit even in January - it absolutely was!

We had a fantastic day exploring the highlands with George, who was engaging, knowledgeable, and funny. He started the day by asking what we wanted to see most so we could ensure we got the right amount of time in those places, which was a nice touch. We were fascinated by the ancient Clava Cairns and what we know about how the site was used. It was interesting to hear about the Battle of Culloden and its historical significance while exploring the place where it happened. Our visit to Loch Ness was breathtaking and something I’ll never forget. There were many other great stops along the way - thanks very much again to George for a fantastic day.

We failed to plan well for our two day stop in Inverness. Last second we scrambled around the internet, trying to find a local company for half day tour. The internet is both useful and annoying, as it directs everyone straight to resellers and you have no idea what tour you are getting. Most tours were full day events on large coaches (not our cup of tea). Fortunately we found Go Highlands and George! Called him the night before and had a great day out with only another couple in our group (Go Highlands provide tours for groups that fit in smaller vans, not busses). Visited Clava Cairns, Culloden, Loch Ness, smallest gin distillery in Scotland (lovely gin), and view of Urquhart Castle. Learned loads about history, local myths, and about Scotland in general. In a small group you can ask questions or linger a bit longer at something etc. George was fabulous and a great storyteller. Wish my history teachers in school were this interesting, might of learned more. TIP-find their direct website as best and least expensive way to book, or call them.
