Private Inverness Dark Side Tour

By Walking Tours in Inverness
About
Join your guide on a journey through the brutal history of the Highland Capital. You’ll learn about beheadings and worse on this 90 minute exploration of the dark past of these now peaceful streets. Ghost sightings not guaranteed, but stories of lost spirits and souls will make you take a second look at this charming city that has seen earthquakes, floods and fires bring devastation long before it became the universally popular destination it is today. Learn about a knight in shining armour and standing stones we can only hope do not fall over, visit the graves of important figures and find hard evidence of their gruesome habits. Your guide will keep you safe as we follow a trail of bones – ideally in the evening, although we will alternate accommodate timing requests where possible.

        Superb tour with Christine
Tour was with the wonderful Christine. Very knowledgeable and linked wider history to the local history. Good group size - about 8 I think- which made discussion fun and interesting. I love food tours so maybe think about offering that?

        Very informative tour
We had Steve as our tour guide and he was excellent, very knowledgeable and quite funny. He advised up front that the tour may go a little over the hour and a half just in case people had other plans to get to and advised they could leave if necessary. Our tour lasted close to two hours and was very well done.

Walk a bit, learn a lot.
We walked Inverness with Steve and left with a warm feeling for the people and the city. Steve was very knowledgeable about his city and his tales were extremely entertaining. Add this to your list of “do’s.”

        Thoroughly enjoyable tour
We really enjoyed our tour with Steve - he was very knowledgeable and entertaining, encompassing both recent and more historical events, plus a lot of humour thrown in. We were only visiting for the day and the tour gave us a real flavour of Inverness, which is a truly lovely city. We wish we could have stayed longer.

We had a very nice experience with Simon who was a very good guide. We enjoyed the leisurely pace with plenty of time to listen to his stories and take any photos etc. A lovely memory of Inverness.
