We went on the day tour of Blarney Castle from Dublin, the trip was great from the start , I think our driver had kissed the Blarney stone he could talk for Ireland but he was very good & knew his stuff. The castle is not big but it is great I have now kissed the Blarney stone which is quite a experience as you have to lie down & pit your head thru a hole in the wall to get to it.
We also stopped at a couple of other castles one on the way & one on the way back,if you like castles I would recommend this trip & the company Irish Day Tours.

We had a really enjoyable day touring three castles. Our bus driver (Bud) was very chatty and informative, and on occasion broke into song. It’s a long day (12 hours), but doing it in a coach is reasonably easy. After driving for many days in a car, a day in a coach is very relaxing. We had enough toilet and food breaks not to create any problems (for me at least). Highly recommended.

This was an incredible trip that I highly recommend. Our guide was interesting and knowledgeable, and we had plenty of time to really explore the extensive grounds of Blarney Castle and the beautiful area. We were impressed as well with the Rock of Cashel- such a humbling experience, and the gentlemen at Cahir Castle was so informative. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to go beyond the surface level of seeing these iconic places.

My Husband and I went on this trip with Philip as our guide. He was funny, kind, and a bit overzealous in his story telling, but in a good way. He had a story for everything!
The first place we stopped was the Rock of Cashel, which was absolutely gorgeous ruins. The walk up is a bit steep so be prepared for that! However the place was absolutely stunning. I will say of the three places we stopped this felt like the most time wasted. We have an hour at this stop and really we were done after 20-30 minutes and spent those standing around. I wish we could have had that time at our last stop.
The second place was the stunning Blarney Castle. With it being St. Patrick’s Day week it was absolutely packed with tour buses. My husband waited in like about an hour to kiss the Blarney Stone and I walked around the gardens. We wouldn’t have easily been able to do both due to the sheer amount of people. He thought the experience to the stone was great but said the stairs were extremely difficult and narrow. The gardens on the other had were just absolutely phenomenal. Tranquil and gorgeous really. They make you feel like you’re in another world. We have 2.5 hours here but being our lunch stop too there wasn’t enough time for everything.
The last place we stopped was Cahir Castle where we got a guided tour that talked about all the defenses of the castle. It was SO informative, and really one of the highlights of this tour. I do however wish we were given those extra minutes we spent standing around at the first tour here. We were rushed and after the guided tour and didn’t really have enough time to walk around and didn’t even get to see the gardens or overly friendly geese.
All in all it’s a fabulous tour, I’d highly recommend taking it if it’s the only way you’ll get to see these places. Though Blarney could be a whole day on its own!

Phillip was our tour guide and bus driver and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the experience. Bus was not only on time but Phillip was really knowledgeable, interesting, interacted will all guests, checked in to make sure we were comfortable with the temperature and all our questions were answered. My only complaint is there didn’t seem to be enough time at the Blarney Castle (we had two hours). From my understanding we were the second tour the company just added a walking tour option in the local city which was about a 10 minute drive from where the Blarney Castle is located. It would have been nice to have the option to stay longer at the castle and for those who wanted to they could do the local tour. My group opted out of the hour long tour and chose to find a local restaurant to eat since we spent the 2 hours touring the castle grounds. In total we spent 4 hours in that area and had we been given the option the group I was with would have spent the time all at the castle and the restaurants surrounding it.

The day trip was extremely well organised and very enjoyable.
Visiting all the castles was of course - amazing however I must confess the tour guide Harry really made the trip for me! He created such a comforting environment and he was ever so friendly, he’s very approachable too should you want to ask questions regarding Ireland etc.
The trip was very informative and I was constantly gripped by Harry’s commentary.
I cannot recommend this activity enough, a coach trip is definitely a must if you find yourself in Ireland and if luck is on your side you’ll have Harry as a guide too! You will not be disappointed.

Our Driver was Harry, a wonderful storyteller and friendly man. He gave a great tour. We left Dublin after meeting at the Molly Malone statue. We went to The Rock first which is a ruined battle castle. Not very big or exciting but we heard the whole history. Then we went to Blarney Castle. The only allure of this place is kissing the Blarney Stone on top of the castle. The place isn't really a castle but more of a battle fortress. The winding stairs up the castle are narrow and tight. I'm 5'6 and if I was any bigger or larger I would have had some trouble getting up and down the narrow stairs. Kissing the Blarney stone seemed exciting to many but you have to lay on your back and a guide maneuvers you off the edge. It's not dangerous! I was glad I saw it but it was a disappointment. I expected a bigger castle with more to see.

We had a wonderful tour guide named Harry. He kept us entertained with facts about ireland’s history and even some impromptu singing. If you do go, you should ask for him. He made everyone feel special and had some real insightful commentary on our way to the various castles. Great tour!

Just went on this trip, and I have to say it was wonderful. Our bus driver Connor was great, and he even say a few songs while he drove our bus. Our drive involved a tour of several castles, in which our favorite was Blarney Castle. It was a bit scary, but my wife and I were able to climb to the top and kiss the stone. I suggest that everyone google the process before you, so you know what to expect.
The trip is quite long, as it was 12 hours. There is only a small amount of time at each stop, so it is a bit rushed. That being said, there is a lot of sightseeing packed into the day. Lastly, bring extra sweater, wear sneakers, and bring and umbrella. The weather can be cold and rainy. Overall a great trip, well done!!!

Loved the trip, be sure to buy snacks the day before. We did stop an hour into the drive at a station for coffee and sandwiches/pastries or whatever you want, but it helps for the long drive. Pick a window seat too. Our bus driver was very knowledgeable and provided great run down of Ireland's exports and history and information on the castles we were seeing. I had a selfie stick I got on Amazon that was 100% worth it for this. Got so many amazing photos.

Could you confirm whether an infant can join this tour from beginning to end without needing an infant seat? The description states infants can join but then mentions both bring own safety seat as well as "must sit on lap."
Thank you in advance

Why is this different information from the one on the tour companies website (Irish day tours). On their website it states you will be dropped off at Dame Street or Riddlers Restaurant so which is it? Also their website doesn’t have time break down how accurate is the time spent at each place?
Paul K

The Riddler's restaurant is an additional option that you can purchase with your tour. And at each stop you'll have a good amount of time at each place blarney castle was the most time spent

We took Irish Day Tours and they were great. We had WIFI aboard and it sctually worked very well.
We are planning to head to Galway/ Cliffs of Moher from Cashel the next day in lieu of heading back to Dublin... Has anyone else done this? Do you recommend anywhere to stay in Cashel/ is there a tour that heads to the Cliffs from there?

We were there in June 2019. Not a stop just for lunch but you can eat at the cafe at Blarney Castle. You will have to build it in to your visit time. By the way it was 1 1/2 hour wait to kiss the stone. We did kiss it but then had to gobble down lunch.
Can we bring our luggage on the trip?

Honestly I'm not completely sure but it was a full size tour bus with undercarriage storage. So I guess it would depend on the tour group you book with.
