About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- gretchenc3410 contributionsPADDYWAGON 10/01WOW is what we have to say. Richard, our driver, made it all happen. He was the best. The tour was perfectly paced and we heard so much interesting history and personal stories. Music was great (singing welcome). Nothing but great things to say about Richard. Awesome experience.Written 11 January 2025
- brandiva120 contributionsAbsolutely WonderfulI have to say that was the best tour I have ever been on thanks to our lovely bus driver Richard O'Brien. The music was awesome and the insights incredible. Valued his timeliness and communication. His stories were the best part. Highly recommend!Written 6 January 2025
- Armando M0 contributionsI had a great time! Our driver, Richard O’Brien, was a taskmaster, insisting we be on time for departures. That aside, he was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and very entertaining. His driving skills are excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed conversing with him.Written 4 January 2025
- 45kennedyh0 contributionsBus Driver was Amazing; make sure to check weatherThe weather was terrible, and yet the bus driver ensured we had a wonderful time. Even though the bus driver is not supposed to be a tour guide, he had wonderful stories. This turned what may have been an awful day into a good one. For example, Kilkenny Castle was closed due to weather (which was my main reason for booking this trip) but he told us other places we could see, and we stumbled upon an amazing museum! When we got to Glendalough it was very snowy, and so we took a vote on how long we would stay. Most passengers wanted to only stay an hour, (which was unfortunate for me because I was the only person who wanted to stay longer lol). he told us what we could do within an hour. His music was also AMAZING. Overall, I’d recommend checking for inclement weather two days before your tour and possibly cancelling if you really want to see Kilkenny. There wasn’t even snow yet and they had said they would close the day before. However, I’m giving 5 stars because TECHNICALLY it isn’t Paddywagon’s fault but I would have hoped they would keep us updated since the castle had closed the day before.Written 4 January 2025
- rasha12460 contributionsVery badI had a disappointing experience with Paddywagon Tours. After being left without a guide at Glendalough and returning 5 minutes late, we discovered the bus had already left. Another driver we approached was unhelpful and mocked us instead of assisting. Thankfully, Quiggs from Finn McCools Tours came to our rescue, offering us a free ride to Kilkenny and a guided tour, completely turning our day around. While I wouldn’t recommend Paddywagon for their lack of support, I highly commend Quiggs for his kindness and professionalism.Written 4 January 2025
- laurenjR6902MB0 contributionsThank you Richard! Not only was this bus tour filled with beautiful views, but Richard went above and beyond to provide us with history and humor throughout. I appreciated all of the stops we made along the way and this was definitely a highlight of my trip. Thank you!Written 30 December 2024
- 13kaylal0 contributionsWonderful Experience- Shea is the BEST tour guide!Wonderful experience- especially if you’re looking for a trip to the Cliffs without the hassle of renting a car. Stops in a few cute towns along the way which is a nice way to see different areas in Ireland. Our tour guide, Shea, was incredibly kind and friendly- he was also very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions we had. He made the tour very special and simple for us!Written 29 December 2024
- robyn E0 contributionsA definite mustThis was a wonderful trip. The drive there was so lovely. The scenery was gorgeous and the guide/bus driver was very knowledgable and pointed out interesting snippets along the way. The bus was comfortable, and Wicklow was beautiful. The walk in nature was just so refreshing and wonderful And looking at the monastery ruins was fascinating. The museum was great with the highlight being the labyrinth rock, which even on its own was well with the trip. The trip back was lovely in the dark with all the Christmas lights through the small towns on the way home. I highly recommend this trip with Paddywagon which a professional and reliable company to work with.Written 29 December 2024
- ThivankaD0 contributionsSkip this company and go on a Wild Rovers tour.Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend this tour company. It really makes a huge difference having a driver and a guide like Wild Rovers. Unfortunately Frank was hard to follow (not from an accent but information stand point). He was also quite repetitive with filler information because I guess he didn’t have a lot of information to share like saying we were going to pick up a passenger in Belfast about 8 times. His microphone screeched every time he spoke. He also didn’t have a good handle on the crowd as people were late at every stop. They played their phones loud on the bus disturbing other passengers. The bus was also too hot and too cold for the start of the journey and the wifi didn’t work. I felt he drove quite fast but it might be normal here. I would recommend getting a Wild Rovers tour.Written 27 December 2024
- 736prataps0 contributionsWorst experience everI had a truly frustrating experience with Paddywagon Tours. My four friends and I booked a tour to Glendalough and Kilkenny, but things quickly went wrong. After arriving at Glendalough, we were left without a tour guide and were told to return in 1.5 hours. We ended up being 5 minutes late, and when we returned, the bus had already left. We searched for our vehicle, but instead found another Paddywagon bus heading to the city center. Instead of offering any assistance, the bus driver taunted us about being late, mocking our situation and making unnecessary remarks. It was not only unhelpful but also unprofessional. Thankfully, we found a kind-hearted guide, Quiggs, from Finn McCools Tours. He listened to our story and, without hesitation, welcomed us onto his bus. Not only did he take us to Kilkenny, but he also gave us a free tour of the city. Quiggs was an amazing guide, and he truly turned our day around. My advice to others would be not to expect any support from Paddywagon when things go wrong. Fortunately, there are still some great people like Quiggs who go above and beyond to help.Written 27 December 2024

- K4431XYcarlam0 contributionsGiants causeway trip from BelfastWe went yesterday to the grants causeway, and we had such a good day. The guide Angelina was really good and very knowledgeable . The weather was terrible with gale force winds for most of the day, but it didn't spoil the day. We visited some lovely places along the way too, which was great too. We thn stopped off for food at a cosy pub on the way back to warm up. All in all a great day and a great experience with a good company.Written 22 December 2024
- Mmmicki0 contributionsWe loved this tour!Blarney Castle has always been a bucket list for me! We opted for this tour to see some other sites coupled with The Blarney Castle. It was a small group (only 8 of us). We sat in the back of the bus, which was very comfortable with a lot of legroom (backpacks + shopping bags too)! Collin, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable about each site and gave us tidbits of info before he began driving to the next site. Since we went in December, each site, was pretty much empty! We literally walked right through the castle and up the steps to kiss the stone. We also had LOTS of time to explore each room as it was empty (seriously, if we saw 15 people that was a lot)! The steps up to the stones were really tight and narrow, however the rope was a huge help and made it super easy! Once up top, it’s not for the faint of heart…open air and if you look over, lots of butterflies! We loved every second and would highly recommend!Written 22 December 2024
- SotBou0 contributionsUnprofessional and unreliable! Avoid themTragic behaviour on their part and extremely unprofessional. No dear Patty Wagon, you have no right to take my money and ask me to cancel or change the day and time of my trip. I wish I could avoid this unacceptable company that I had the misfortune to buy tickets from.Written 22 December 2024
- anonywriter0 contributionsShay made our day!We (a group of 4) took a tour from Dublin that went out to Dunluce Castle and Giants Causeway. It was a day-trip that was very much worth our time! Our driver/guide Shay was lovely and very entertaining. He shared interesting parts of Irish history (a child-friendly version as there were kids on the bus), and played an interesting combination of Irish music and Christmas tunes. Definitely a nice way to see parts of Northern Ireland if you’re staying in the south (though they do run the tour out of Belfast too).Written 19 December 2024

Just finished a 2 day tour of Northern Ireland with Paddywagon tours, it was a fabulous, interesting experience got to do the Titanic Experience, The Black Taxi tour, The Giant Causeway, Dunlouce Castle and the Dark Hedges as well as leisure time in Belfast city. I would recommend this tour I know that The Black Taxi tour was extra but well worth it. Our first driver Cash was very hospitable and made sure everyone had a good time and enjoyed it. Our Second driver Alex also was very hospitable and a mindful of interesting information he too went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time. Even though my friends and I are from Ireland I would recommend our fellow Irish to do this tour or other tours with the Paddywagon tours as a fantastic time was had by all.

Our tour guide, Jackie, skillfully intertwined historical knowledge and personal anecdotes throughout the tour. His comical, insightful, and candid approach made for a very positive experience. Expectations on timeliness were clearly set and followed.
The main stops on the tour, Giant’s Causeway and Belfast City Center (The Black Cab Tour), were incredible. My only criticism is that our time felt short, especially at the Causeway. I’d sacrifice the less significant stops on the tour for more time here.
Jackie’s personal recommendations were successful l both on and off the tour. Good guy.

Had Richard O'Brien as a driver and he was exceptional. We'd taken a Paddywagon tour before so knew what to expect as far as timing and driver quality. Richard was super knowledgable and friendly. Quality driver. What I like is how exactly they explain everything to make sure you know what to expect. Also, where they take you for lunch during the tour is always good food.
The trip itself was gorgeous. Highly highly recommend to anyone wanting to see the beauty of Ireland and learn about it too along the way.

Our Paddywagon 2 day tour to Northern Ireland (day 1 in Belfast/day 2 to Giants Causeway) fell apart when on the morning of day 2 - no bus showed up at our Belfast hotel to tour Giants Causeway and return us back to Dublin. Multiple phone calls & emails to Paddywagon went no where: their solution on the last phone call was to find our way back to Dublin, Ireland by train/public bus or return on another bus tour passing through Belfast at the end of the day. We had to take a public bus back to Ireland at a cost of €40. Paddywagon ignored our emails and would not accept our complaint at their Dublin office. They did finally respond to our original emails agreeing to refund at 30% of our tour costs. Bottom Line on our experience with Paddywagon Tours: they are a high volume tour operator and when they make mistakes they do the minimum (with no apologies)

I was supposed to go on this trip the summer of 2020. Due to the Covid pandemic, I had to request a refund. I was told my refund was "in the queue" and would take a "little time" to process my refund. It's three years later and after many requests for updates on my refund, I've yet to hear back after the initial response from Paddywagon Tours. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this company. Their customer service is HORRIBLE!!!

We (two) joined the 2-day Northern Ireland tour departing Dublin on 16 Jun 2024. The bus arrived late at the assembly place, Beresford Pl, for 45 minutes. We booked the backpacker accommodation option and the tour dropped us at the Vagabond hostel, Belfast on 16 Jun around 4:15pm. We were asked to assemble at the Europa Hotel the next day instead of picking up. It was against what had been written in black and white in the itinerary that "Your driver will collect you from your accommodation at approximately 9:30am." I called their office requesting them to honour what has been described in the itinerary to collect us from Vagabond. I was told this could not be possible and that to continue with the tour, we had to arrange to be in Europa at 09:45am on 17 June. We carried our luggage and walked for almost 15 minutes from Vagabond to Europa to find that we were arranged to join group the 1-day tour departing Dublin on 17 Jun. together with a few of people on the day tour from Belfast. The bus arrived at Europa at around 10:15am. We were supposed to have almost an hour at Dunluce Castle (as described in the itinerary) but ended up with 35mins only. We feel like being treated as parcel deliveries in a logistic company or even worse as parcels do not walk themselves. I have reported these to Paddywagon Tours in the email reply to their post-tour survey and have yet to hear any reply or feedback from them.

I had been to Dublin in the past and wanted my husband to see the things I had seen on a cruise shore excursion. We looked on the internet and found Paddywagon tours. We took two days, one to go to Giants Causeway and Belfast and the other to tour Dublin. We had the same guide both days and he was great. Gary met us promptly each day as scheduled and added so much personal experiences to the narrative. At the end of the two days we felt like we had a new friend in Ireland. He recommended several restaurants and stores, all of which turned out to be outstanding. We spent just the right amount of time at each stop and thoroughly enjoyed our time with Gary. As a result of his feedback think we will return to Ireland and spend more times in other parts of the country. Definitely worth the price!

This was our first trip to Ireland so we were interested in seeing as much as possible. The Paddywagon tour was informative, reasonably priced, and very enjoyable. We booked the overnight in Belfast and would highly recommend taking the extra day. The hotel was in the university district. It was very comfortable and the hotel included a very nice breakfast. We were giving adequate time at the tour sites and it was a fun trip.

We had originally booked to go on the tour the day before we actually went. We were badly caught up in traffic and we missed our tour. This was no problem, the staff in the booking office simply changed our date to the following day. We were so glad they did.
Our tour was driven by Richard O'brien. He was amazing and full of 'craic'. He made the whole tour. He was full of knowledge about the history and the area that added so much more to where we were actually going. His soundtrack for the tour was on point and he had us laughing the whole way.
We will he back in Ireland on holiday again next year and we will definitely be booking another tour.

On the first day, about what time would we be getting to the hotel? (Have a work call I probably will need to reschedule, depending on answer, haha!)

Similar to Mamrosa2 - we will be carrying our luggage with us as this will be in between hotel bookings. Is there room to store the carry-on luggage for two people or is it just intended to be backpack friendly?
Written 16 July 2019
In the morning you will store your luggage in the bus. At the end of the day the bus driver will retrieve your luggage for you and send you on your way to the accomodations for the evening. The next day you will store your luggage again in the bus.

Hi There,
I would like to check a few things as follows:
1. Normally how many person/traveller during the tour?
2. Is there any additional charges besides the tour package?
3. What kind of coach/bus will be? How many seaters?
Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,

Hey Yvonne,
To answer your questions:
Typically there can be up to 30/40 people on the bus but I assume it can also depend on the time of year and how busy it is. Some of the tours have optional additional costs for example with Northern Ireland you can also take a black taxi tour which is 15 Euro a person and you have to buy your own lunch and dinner. The buses are comfortable coach buses. Great for travel!

Hi Yvonne!
To answer your questions, I believe there can be about 30 - 40 people on the tour, depending what time of the year and how many sign up for that particular tour. As to added fees there are optional experiences that you can do alongside a tour. For example, on the Northern Ireland one you can do a black Taxi tour and that an extra 15 euro but it’s your choice to go or not (I’d recommend it) and then you have to pay for lunch and dinner. The buses are very comfortable coach style - large and spacious.
