Taking a private tour to County Wicklow means you are free to customize it however you like; let your guide know where your interests lie and he or she will be happy to change the stops or the durations to accommodate your preferences. After Dublin hotel pickup, sit back in your private tour vehicle and enjoy the scenery while your guide takes care of navigation and directions on the east coast route to Wicklow Gaol. Once you arrive, take an interactive tour led by actor guides to understand the history of its prisoners and make a stop in the Genealogy Room to trace your Irish ancestry. Continue on to Avoca village, where you’ll make a lunch stop and have some time to shop for some of the town’s famous handicrafts. After that, depart for Glendalough, a monastic city founded in the sixth century where you can explore the grounds and the ruins. The day’s last stop is Powerscourt Gardens, established in 1731. Take your time to walk through the sweeping terraces, statues, ornamental lakes, secret hollows, and rambling walks.  End your day with convenient drop-off back in Dublin.

Best tour guide from our entire trip
Jul 2019 • Family
Alan was the best tour guide from our entire month long trip around Europe, Germany and Ireland. This was by far one of my most favorite days from our trip. Alan had so much knowledge and told us many Irish stories and tales. Alan made the extra effort to find and stop at the best places so I could take pictures with my nice camera I brought. Alan is very funny and entertaining. Please book a tour with him because his tour will be one of the highlights of your trip. We not only had an amazing time with Alan but we saw some amazing sights along the way. We only wish we could have spent more time in Ireland with Alan touring us around!

I had so many pictures from that day here are a few on my favorites but even the pictures dont do a justice!

Don't Hesitate: Worth Every Euro!
Mar 2020 • Friends
I've been to Powerscourt, Glendalough and through the Wicklows three times before with other companies. This was far and away superior to every other trip. Jimmy was an expert, willing to entertain every question we had ranging from the mundane to the historically and politically significant. He was able to answer each with incredible depth, which truly enriched every minute of the experience. The scenery is undeniably beautiful in its own right, but it was the man driving the van that provided the real color. We were able to stop wherever we wanted to snap a few pics. Skip the big bus tours... this is the way to go!

Logistically, every facet was completely seamless. We booked late the night before we wanted to go on the tour. After booking, I contacted the company via the TripAdvisor app to arrange the pick up time and got a response within minutes. Jimmy arrived early, met us in the hotel lobby, and we were on our way without a hiccup.

(Thank you, Jimmy. You made our short visit to Ireland very special! Sláinte, Arthur)

Great tour - highly recommend
Oct 2019
We had a great tour with Alan. Powerscourt Gardens was beautiful. The gardens rival the gardens in Versailles! The views at Wicklow are fantastic as well. I would highly recommend this tour. Alan has a wealth of knowledge and a great sense of humour.

Wonderful scenic and historic tour
Aug 2019
We had an excellent day with Alan, who picked us up punctually alongside our cruise ship and proceeded to treat us to a multi-faceted tour of the Dublin countryside and its many historic and scenic sites, accompanied by a wealth of history and anecdotes. Alan is exceptionally knowledgeable about the region's history, culture, land, and lore, which he shared with us continuously throughout our visit. The magnificent Powerscourt Estate and Gardens was a highlight of the day, as was our visit to the beautiful and fascinating monastic city of Glendalough and the nearby Lower Lake with views of the Upper Lake and Wicklow mountains. An earlier stop for coffee in the charming village of Dalkey, where author Maeve Binchy had lived, brought to life the street scenes of her many books. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Alan--and learned a lot! Highly recommend.

A Very Enjoyable Tour...
Alan was an excellent tour guide. He was friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable on virtually all topics concerning Dublin and Ireland in general.
After learning that our daughter performs with a choir, Alan arranged for us to join and sing along with some local gentlemen in a cafe in Dalkey. Our "sing along" may well become our fondest memory of the trip. I highly recommend Alan to anyone who is planning a private tour in Ireland!

Half day private tour wicklow powerscourt gardens.
Apr 2019 • Couples
Excellent tour with Alan B. First off Alan is a wonderful guide, if you have the opportunity to tour with him do not hesitate. He is incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining, history, geography, folklore. He met us (myself and my husband)in the lobby of our hotel at the time we chose. Pointed out Dublin sites as he whisked us to our first stop James Joyce tower and museum. He took plenty of pictures of us at every stop. Powerscourt gardens are incredible we toured the gardens on our own with the audio guide. After the gardens, the waterfall which after all the rain was rushing. Cant forget the Wicklow mountains and lough tay very scenic. We have great pictures.
Drove through the bogs. Stopped to watch lambs playing. Onto Johnnie Fox's the highest pub in Ireland for a pint. Then back into Dublin where we were dropped off at the Brazen Head Irelands oldest pub. All in all an incredible day outside the bustling city. Highly recommend.

Time in the Country
Apr 2019 • Couples
Our guide, Alan was punctual, knowledgeable and an excellent driver. We enjoyed an amazing tour of The Martello Tower - James Joyce Museum; Powerscourt Estate, the Powerscourt Waterfall and a side trip to Glendalough. All these attractions were wonderful and Alan filled us in on a lot of info that we didn't have time to learn on location. Thanks Alan. The half day went by too fast. My recommendation would be to decide what you want to see ahead of time and preplan it with Alan. Driving time and lunch if you stop is part of the hours so don't be disappointed plan ahead. A great day with Alan, wish it had been longer.

Great time - Thanks Alan
We had Alan for our day trip to Dublin and Powerscourt Gardens tour. Alan is not just a safe driver but also an excellent guide. He was kind and patient with our twin boys and informative to all of us. We enjoyed his company and because of his passion in sharing his knowledge with us, enjoyed the stay in Ireland. Will definitively call on him next time we are in Ireland.
