Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Terrible experience! Only one bus was in service the entire day — and a cruise ship was in port — so dozens of us waited all morning to board the bus. People were so angry! Needless to say, there was no hopping on or off anywhere in Galway as the bus was jammed full of people and no one wanted to risk waiting 2-3 hours to get back to the center city. Lally Co., who holds that franchise, is guilty of false advertising, that’s for sure

The Galway City Tour is great, got a a good insight into the history of Galway and surrounding areas, it’s quite cheap. The seats on the bus are very comfortable. The drivers are funny, making good jokes etc…

Great experience! Our tour guide Morteen was amazing ,so friendly and very informative of the area . He recommended several places for us the visit and see. His aura straight away talking to us was immaculate and very inviting. Prices for students was affordable for us to explore what we got to see.

We booked the hop on hop off bus and rode it to a stop. We got off, and toured around a bit and were back at the stop prior to the next bus. We were standing right at the stop and the driver never even looked at us, he just drove past. We ended up taking an Uber back to our hotel. I reached out to the company and got this response...

This was a great little tour of Galway! Some interesting fact, interesting sights with good commentary and a lovely friendly driver. Catered to all those whose wanted to sit indoors or outdoors, upstairs or down. The live bus tracker is handy as you can time your hops off appropriately to save waiting at the stop.

Fun & Informative Tour with a funny guide. This is a great way to see the highlights of Galway. Be aware that if you "hop off" at a stop you're going to wait 90 minutes before you can "hop on" again.

Perfect spur of the moment decision after morning coffee. Great day and very sunny (an anomaly explained locals). Had a very personable and funny senior tour guide. Very knowledgeable and full of quaint jokes and insights. Felt like an evening fireside chat - so charming. Opted not to "hop off". We made our way through the following: Eyre Square, Galway coach station, Spanish Arch, Salthill Village, Salthill Promenade, Threadneedle road, Newcastle, Galway Cathedral, and then returning to Eyre Square.
Lots of insights and great way to get a quick lay of the land. Recommended as a 'first' thing to do Grab a coffee and enjoy the ride!

Perfect way to see and learn about Galway, made even better by our amazing driver John! He was funny, and gave interesting local insight to the beautiful place. Giving great recommendations along the way, when he heard I was a lover of ales he pointed us in the right direction to spend an afternoon doing tastings at one of his favourite locals.
Cheers John!

A good way to see Galway, the commentary had lots of interesting facts. It didn’t last long, about 45 mins as Galway isn’t a huge place. However was good value with a 2 day ticket for hop on hop off. Driver very friendly!

If a ticket is purchased in the afternoon on a Tuesday, will it last 48 hours from the TIME on that day of purchase through the same time on a Thursday. Or is the ticket DATE specific? I will be in Galway for 3 days beginning at ~ 2 pm. I like the flexibility of hopping off if there is a site I want to explore more.

I would like to know the stops so that I could plain where to book a hotel.
Written 26 February 2022
I will only be in the area from 2 to 9 and was wondering if that will work into the hop on/ hop off bus schedule?
Written 11 June 2019
This would work in fine but I would try to get the tour as early as possible if you plan to hop off and visit a site.
