About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Jimmy S0 contributionsScammedHave been before, you used to see a countdown of how long you got in the chamber. The latest scam involves them putting a graphic on the screen so you can’t see that you have less time. This was confirmed to me by someone who works there. Make sure you check your videos to check you get all your time on each go.Written 5 October 2024
- 977fannieg0 contributionsNo respect for loyal customersI have been a regular flyer and loyal customer of iFly Basingstoke for 5 years now. I have kept flying throughout the years despite the (outrageous) price increase and have always honoured my bookings. I got injured a few days ago (severe knee injury), which meant I could no longer fly the 1h time I had booked through my coach a couple of days later. I was honestly disappointed when iFly refused to reschedule the time, meaning that I lost £700 in the process while they actually had interest from other people to buy that time. I expected much better from a business I have been loyal too, this is an appalling customer experience.Written 13 July 2024

- Hungry7890 contributionsRip offTreated as a birthday gift.....what a rip off. Each 'flight' is 30 seconds if you're lucky, paid extra £30 for the high flight part x 2 and saw on my footage is was a TOTAL of 28 seconds. Wouldn't do this again.Written 14 May 2024
- 631emelineh0 contributionsGreat experience and friendly staffMy partner and I loved this activity! It was our first time trying indoor skydiving and both picked it up pretty quickly thanks to the help of our instructor Jordan. We only booked 2 minutes each (1min x 2) in the tube but it felt like longer and was fun to watch other people having a go to. We were allowed to prop-up my phone to film in the waiting area so thanks again to Jordan for allowing me to run and grab it mid-session. Highly recommend this experience. Staff were friendly and helpful!Written 5 March 2024
- stephrH9232ZK0 contributionsJordan our instructor was awesomeWhat an absolutely brilliant time had by all. Youngest was 8 years old, birthday treat for her plus cousin and parents. Fabulous viewing area for Grannie! She even wants a go next time!! Jordan explained everything beautifully, we felt safe, he was super encouraging and made the whole experience fun. We had 3 flights each plus a high flight included in our last flight. Wow! It was brilliant! We had photo and video package included , what an awesome memory. Birds Eye view of our flight was shown as well! Well worth the extra. We all received a certificate as well. Thank you Jordan for making our experience epic, and your show at the end was awesome! Definitely coming back and requesting you!Written 3 March 2024
- M6268DCmariad0 contributionsIFLY -THANK YOU Jordan!Thank you Jordan! Jordan made me enjoy my entire experience and get the best out of it. He is an excellent instructor and due to his passion, skills, professionalism and dedication I've gained so much more than just some air time. He offered the perfect balance of support - enough to help me gain confidence but not too much to take away from me really earning my wings. Not only than he contributed to me enjoying the experience-but he acomplished so much more. He opened up my heart to wanting to improve, to fly again and get better - to see this as an activity I'd like to pursue. Due to his care & attention to my learnung needs and experience enjoyment - I'm now booking my next flying times.Written 17 February 2024

- J9082JVadamf0 contributionsAnother fantastic visit to iFlyThis was my second visit to iFly Basingstoke. Jack was fantastic - took the time to explain everything to us before, and then do a detailed debrief after our flights so that we knew what to work on next time. Really looking forward to our next visit (which we booked straight away). If you've tried it before and didn't feel as though you could breathe in the chamber, it's definitely worth asking for a full face helmet - they're cheap to hire and, for me at least, made a huge difference to my enjoyment.Written 14 September 2023
- danielbooth100 contributionsArrogant Staff Ruined ExperienceArrogant, uninterested and rude. The instructors were unhelpful. Disregarded my son's questions and looked down on him as though he were stupid. We came here for a great experience for our family. All we ended up with was being made to feel stupid, ignored and belittled.Written 29 August 2023

Bought this experience for me and my partner and I'm really glad I did, despite my nerves. We managed to get an earlier experience with the instructor Eoin. You have to watch a video and then put your gear on. The instructor makes sure that you are completely safe before entering the tunnel.
To enter the tunnel, the instructor stands by the entrance and you have to basically fall onto them and they will help position you in the tunnel. The instructor stays next to you the whole time in the tunnel and will always be within each.
You can have different amounts of time in the tunnel depending on what you opt for a nd pay an additional £8 for going to the top of the tunnel with an instructor and £14 for an extra go, if time permits.
I had originally booked the experience during one of their offers for £49.99 and purchased two pictures to go with it, which I would recommend doing. I also ended up buying videos of mine and my partners go in the tunnel. The video includes all of your turns and the instructors 'performance' at the end.
Overall, would definitely recommend this experience even if you're really nervous as I was. I will definitely be visiting again

We had our son’s 7 birthday party that included 26 people taking part (children and some parents) in skydiving and VR paragliding experience. The groups have to be of a fixed number: 13 people in each group x 30 minutes a session, where each participant will have 2 attempts. Needless to say iFly have created a real “spoiling experience “ for a birthday child having his own VR skydiving experience in addition to the 2 attempts. We are still have buzzing children and parents saying it was the “best, best, best ever” birthday party they have experienced in their lives. From the time we, parents, had to book slots (half a year in advance to ensure we have our preferred slot, as this place is extremely popular) until the last minutes of the party it was nothing short of a Magic Fairytale with Superb Customer Service. Sarah Adams, the sales coordinator, did say that she will make sure everything will rum smooth on a day but one is always hesitant if that would really happen. Not only Sarah suggested the best plan on how to keep party attendees entertained whilst the other group was flying but also managed to get it a really tailored experience to our group. Sarah has blown us away by going 1000 extra miles (which is unheard of nowadays) and on her day off on Saturday, when the party took place, she came to work to greet our group, make a tour of all facilities for us, parents of the birthday child, introduced to all the staff, liaised with instructors to accommodate all the last minute unforeseen changes. The receptionist Carlie and the team even helped with carrying all birthday presents to the car and set up the table and helped with constant children hydration. This is all to say that the team was ready to take care of everything we could possibly wish for. Instructors: Rhys and Corey, Harry were the most wonderful bunch to have for the group that has faced the experience for the first time. Precise, confident, professional, calm, happy and fun. They made sure that even those who may not quite master the skill straight away would get it at the end. Amber from the VR paragliding experience has a patience of an angel and was impeccable at keeping up the enthusiasm of kids queuing up for their experience parachuting through virtual hoops of the moon or mountains as well as technically keeping the experience going without a glitch. We can’t thank enough the IFly Basingstoke team for the best atmosphere one could have possibly provided, especially in the looming days of the country lockdown. We can’t wait to come back there again when the Co-19 will be put behind us.

This will be in two parts, the actual flying was fab, the instructors were keen, smiley and seemed to be really enthusiastic still about getting her flying. Daughter had a fantastic time. Good instruction, great to watch, you are really close to them! Great opportunity to take photos!
Having a bit of birthday money left, we decided to go for the option of a 4 month return voucher, that is much cheaper if you buy it whilst you are still there. £49 for 6 reduced from I think £80 something. Booked it straight away when coming home and there were only 3 week-end dates in that whole four months, that were a 10:00am or later flight on a week-end. Everything else was after 21:00 which is hard with children or 9:00/9:30 which is very early given you have to be there 1 hour before and for us it is an hour's drive. I think that is an odd business model. We had been told the times on week-ends were before 12:00 or after 21:00, but it was not clear how restricted bookings were. Fair enough that unsociable hours are cheaper, but not when you find out how unsociable after you have bought the voucher! It is not possible to check on those times before you have a voucher number. I think that business model needs a rethink! Does not make me feel like a valued return customer! Would work if you are able to come throughout the week or lived closer. Will try and leave another review with a poor rating for return vouchers!

Gone down as best Christmas gift ever for 12 year old son!
The whole team at iFly are fantastic. The reception team were so happy and welcoming, explained everything clearly and set the tone for a great afternoon.
The viewing gallery is great fun to watch and gives a good taster for what is to come.
We booked “the works” package which included 3 x flights, 1 x high flight and 1 x vr flight. It’s worth noting that 1 flight is 1 minute long, the first 4 flights were 2 x 2 minute flights. We felt this gave great value as the flyer gets time to adjust and really enjoy the flight.
Lewis was a fantastic instructor, full of fun and enthusiasm, and clearly loves his job. The high flight was amazing and definitely worth paying for. The vr flight was also very much enjoyed and the effort of the instructor really made it. Instructors are very aware of parents eager to film the experience and do all they can to accommodate a good shot.
I had a digital package as part of the experience I bought, and had a couple of problems arranging this at the screens on the exit. But a really helpful reception staff member helped us out and all was sorted in no time.
Can’t recommend the experience enough and already planning a return visit for a February birthday.
I do need to mention the only downside was the extra that we purchased for the ParaFlight experience. It was really disappointing, and given the chance I’d spend the money on extra flight time. It didn’t spoil what was a great day, just would skip it next time.
Thanks to all for making my sons day brilliant 😃

My husband and I arrived early, there were plenty of parking spaces and it was free.
We found places to eat next door.
We had time to view other people in the wind tunnel, which built our excitement and gave us an insight in to what to expect when it was our turn.
All the staff, from reception to instructors were very friendly, helpful and knowledgable.
Our instructor, Luke, was very professional and informative, and good fun too. He kept an eye on all of us as a group, and also made our individual experience personal. We felt safe at all times and thoroughly enjoyed every minute!!
You go in twice for one minute each time, and we paid to go “high” with the instructor. It was worth it!!
Luke gave us a demo of what you can achieve if you have enough practice, which was amazing to see!!
The facilities were clean and tidy.
Thank you to all staff for a fantastic time! We have already recommended you!!!

My two children aged 9yrs and 4yrs absolutely loved, loved this experience today. Zac our instructor was awesome. They came out totally buzzing. He just took control in such a calm, caring and professional way that as a parent, we felt comfortable watching and handed over complete trust. Money well spent, it really was very special watching such young children enjoy something so daring and feeling confident with the person teaching them. Thank you so much Zac. We took part at 11am on Monday 9th March as our children had an inset day, seemed a perfect time to go.
Booking and reception staff were also great, totally professional and helpful. We look forward to coming back.

From the moment you walk in, the staff make you feel welcome and chat excitedly about your ifly experience and help to dissolve any nerves you may have. The viewing area is great with plenty of seating. Our instructor made us all feel at ease As he took us through the safety briefing and to get changed. The actual ‘flight’ was amazing, I have done tandem free fall jumps in the past and had wondered how this would compare to the thrill and adrenaline rush of that, I was ‘blown away’ (excuse the pun) I thoroughly enjoyed it as did everyone I watched and would definitely do it again and recommend to friends, in fact I purchased a voucher for a friends big birthday. The whole experience was made even better by the amazing staff, everyone was friendly, welcoming and reassuring and our instructor (sorry don’t know his name) was great. Thank you for a lovely ‘flight’ .

MASSIVE rip off! I paid £160 for my 2 sons to have an extended flight, which was just 2 x 2min flights each.
I can't believe I paid that amount and we drove over 250 miles round trip for what was a completely underwhelming experience of floating a few feet off the floor. They also want an extra £10 to fly higher for 10 secs max. It was so shocking we just couldn't help but laugh at how rubbish it was. We left there shaking our heads in disbelief. £20 per minute! Crazy.
I'm not knocking the activity because it could be fun and for 2mins it was (luckily my sons were able to fly without being held, but be warned, the instructor had to hold on to everyone else in the group which made it even worse for them I'd imagine). I'm not knocking the staff either, they were fine, just the extortionate cost can't be justified. I've read that they try to justify the costs by saying its a multi million pound building and comparing to actual sky dives, but let's be honest it offers none of the jeopardy or adrenaline of a real sky dive so shouldn't be compared and if they had more reasonable pricing more people would attend/return.
Unfortunately, we would not return or recommend ifly. The whole experience was worth £10 each not £80!

We're sorry that you were underwhelmed by what we do. It's a shame to hear, as we welcome in the region of 170,000 people to iFLY each year - the vast majority of whom have a great time.
We do think it's important not to think of our experience with a "price per-minute" mentality. It is rare that this is done with many other experiences. For example, it is rare for someone to pay £99 for a bungee jump and subsequently be disappointed that it lasted a matter of seconds. And, in reality, flying for any more than 5 minutes in 120mph windspeeds at iFLY becomes quite physically exerting - so we find that introductory sessions of between 2 and 4 flights are generally best suited to new visitors.....but the option is there to fly longer if customers prefer. And, we also shouldn't forget that a visit to iFLY is not purely about the time inside the wind tunnel - the overall 'experience' including briefing, gear up and certificate issue is around 45 minutes at present - and our staff are great fun to spend time with!
In addition, it is normal for us to compare ourselves to 'real skydiving' because that is what we work so hard to successfully replicate with our technology, as well as our research and development into the aerodynamics of sophisticated vertical wind tunnels. Indeed, many of our guests choose to make the comparison to real skydiving too.....much like how a 'surf simulator' might be compared to 'real surfing' or a 'flight simulator' might be compared to 'real aircraft piloting.' We don't think that's an unreasonable comparison to make.
There is no attempt by us to 'justify' our prices - all our Trip Advisor responses to any comments over price indicate that we firmly believe we are worth every penny and are value for money within the leisure sphere. It is true that our facilities are expensive to build, maintain and run (not to mention the millions we spend on the aforementioned R&D and innovation as market leader).....so of course that has to be reflected in the prices we charge. Incidentally, it is possible to fly for as little as £29.99 if you are prepared to come and see us in our quieter periods - so we endeavour to be accessible to everyone's budget.....even though we well know that we are not a cheap experience.
We'd certainly love the opportunity to meet you and your sons again and to fly with you again. Whilst we appreciate it was a long journey to make, we'd love to see you back and would remind you that as return flyers, our prices are roughly half that of first time visitors, owing to the fact that the training has already been performed. If you'd like to come back on these massively reduced rates, feel free to contact us on support@iFLYworld.co.uk - and we'd be delighted to assist.

This was a genuinely incredible experience. We both booked four flights, which the instructor suggested we use as two longer flights each. The training was really comprehensive and clear, the staff attentive and fun throughout.
The actually experience is surreal and brilliant. The instructors did an incredible job of flexing to adjust to everyone's skill levels, with some people quickly being able to float around on their own and others needing more help. Either way, they were never more than a step away and incredibly attentive.
The High Fly was definitely worth the extra cost on the day, and the show put on by the instructor at the end was stunning

Thanks for the lovely review. Our instructors work hard to make sure everyone has a brilliant time and spend a lot of time fine tuning their demos at the end of the session. They'll be thrilled to hear it was worth it! Hopefully we will see you again.

My 12 year old absolutely loved the experience (which was a gift) in the tunnel however it is a bit over priced for what you get - 2 flights of 60 seconds each. An extra £10 to do the high fly also seems disproportionate when it last about 15 seconds.
Staff were ok but not overly helpful. Went to the briefing room as people were in there and thought maybe we were supposed to be too - instructor looked at us, carried on talking, and ignored us. It became clear they were at the end of the talk so we left assuming it wasn’t our group.
Not sure why we had to get there 40 mins beforehand - after a quick briefing and then getting her suit on she sat around for nearly half an hour before her group went in.
For COVID measures, wasn’t until we were leaving I realised they hadn’t taken our temperatures on arrival. Participants in the same group are constantly changing places on the bench outside the tunnel as they take their turns (most people had their hands on the edges of the bench as they waited or shuffled along it) and it wasn’t wiped down between groups.
It certainly looks a lot of fun but would not pay that amount myself.

HI LW36,
Firstly, we're really glad that your 12 year old had great fun - that's so important to us.
We do also take on board the comments regarding price.
It's important to note that 2 flights of around 60 seconds each is the equivalent of making 3 'real' skydives from 12,000 feet. It's a really nice amount of flight time for a first visit and is also incredible value for money when compared to a single 'real' skydive which lasts around 40 seconds in terms of the freefall duration. iFLY is a skill based pursuit too, which means that instead of being strapped to a 'tandem instructor' our customers have the opportunity to control their own movements in the air-flow. We totally appreciate that we are not a cheap experience, but we do like to think when compared to other similar activities or pursuits, we represent great value for money and that the overall experience is world class.
The High Flight that you mention is charged accordingly owing the significant additional power required, as well as specialist staff training required in order to be able to perform it.
The requirement to arrive 40 minutes prior to the flight time is to ensure that we have sufficient time to gear up our customers so that they are comfortable, as well as to cover off all of the important health and safety items before heading into windspeeds of 120mph. Typically, fairly shortly after gearing up, our customers are getting into the air-flow, so we're sorry if your daughter was waiting for a long time before heading into the flight chamber. We'll look into that.
We certainly apologise if our staff weren't quite as helpful as you may have hoped, I do know that we all pride ourselves on treating our customers like celebrities, so we're disappointed to hear that and we will of course investigate.
Thanks again for the review - we take all of your feedback in the constructive nature it was intended and will use it to continually improve. In the meantime, we'd love to see you and your 12 year old back for another experience in the very near future.
Thanks again,
Team iFLY
