Hosted by Jerome From the beginning of our journey to the end an amazing day. We have all travelled the world but this was an amazing experience of an organised day trip. What we learnt from this trip because of Jerome and his passion was Geography of Alsace Wine with history Local knowledge Plus villages of such beauty including “the storks” History of the area concerning the war. He made this trip very personable and interested in our country. Safe driver Attentive to our needs and we never felt rushed. Special and memorable day Highly recommend this trip to taste the wine but the opportunity to visit Villages and learn about Alsace.

Best tour and tour guide ever!
My husband and I had the privilege of taking the day tour of Eguisheim, wine tasting, and Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle with Jerome. Not only was the tour amazing, Jerome our tour guide was over the top excellent. His knowledge of literally everything was truely impressive. We learned so much about the history of Alsace, wine and more all from Jerome. When the weather didn’t cooperate for us to see the castle we improvised and went to another site where Jerome once again shared his knowledge with us. We won’t stop talking about our tour or Jerome for a long time. It was the best tour ever!

Colmar Small Group tours were great
My wife and I just spent the last 2 days with Ophorus tours departing from Colarm (one was the full day wine tasting and the other was the villages and castles tours, both small group tours). Excellent time both days and had a lot of fun. Thierry was our guide today on the castles and villages and he really was funny and entertaining all day long with what ended up just being a small group of 3 guests. Highly recommend

A great way to see some hidden Alsatian gems
Our tour of the Alsace villages with Thierry was just fantastic. He was so knowledgable and funny which made the whole experience great fun and really good value for money. We saw villages we would never have known about and got to take some fabulous pictures, we really felt like locals for the day. We also learnt an incredible amount about the region’s history and its winemaking. He even doubled back so that we could see an infamous Alsatian stork in its nest! I highly recommend one of these tours, a great way to spend an afternoon.

We were booked on this tour of Alsace wines by Grape escapes. We were picked up at the time specified by Myriam our tour guide, she was very friendly and knowledgeable. We visited 3 wineries with tastings and cellar tours. At lunch time we were dropped off in Riquewihr a delightful village with wonderful shops and food outlets. We had a marvellous day that we will remember for a long time. Thank you Myriam

Jean-Yves turned our otherwise disastrous day into a memorable experience.

Our plan was to book "Alsace Day Trip from Strasbourg: Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquewihr, High Koenigsbourg Castle" when we arrived in Strasbourg. Well, we completely underestimated our fellow tourists because the tour was completely booked and our schedule was not flexible. We contemplated long and hard about what to do next until we found a tour called "Small-Group Gems of Alsace Day Tour from Colmar" that was still available. We wanted "Small-Group Day Trip from Colmar: The 4 Wonders of Alsace" but that too was completely booked. We booked a early morning train ticket to Colmar the next day and then arrived in Colmar. We walked over to the rendezvous point (in front of the CGR movie theater) and then waited. We met very pleasant retired couple from Australia who were also waiting for the tour but no one showed up at 9:30AM. We waited a few more minutes and then realized that something wasn't right. We called the number on the voucher and got a hold of someone from the tour office, who had informed us that they've been trying to contact us but that they couldn't. We received the news that the tour guide had the flu (in a non-flu season?!) and therefore she had called in sick. Essentially, our tour was canceled and considering that our schedule was not flexible, going on the tour the next day wasn't an option for us. At this point, we were very angry because the tour company canceled the tour on us at the last moment after we made our trip all the way to Colmar. Considering that travelers are required to give the tour company at least 24 hours before the tour to receive a full refund, we thought that we deserved some type of compensation at the minimum. The lady refused to give us any type of compensation and finally said that she'd talk to her manager on our behalf (aka "I will pretend to talk to my manager and then tell you that s/he said NO"). We didn't appreciate the fact that she made it appear as if she was doing us a favor by finding us an alternative tour and that we should be happy that she's doing this for us. The Australian couple decided to do the tour the next day but we were less than thrilled to have to go on a different tour. In the end, we were only refunded the difference between the two tours and nothing more. The lady said that she would try to ask the tour guide to visit Eguisheim because that was the village that we wanted to visit the most, but this half-day tour did not visit that village.

We tried to make the best of our situation by actually seeing Colmar, instead of being given a short time to see the entire town via a tour. Colmar was absolutely stunning and we agreed that we were glad to have toured the town on our own time. We had lunch, purchased snacks and souvenirs, and then met up with our group at 2PM. There were 5 of us total, which was about the perfect size because fitting 8 people into a minivan in the heat would have been uncomfortable. The air conditioning was fairly weak so fitting 2 in the front, 3 in the middle and 3 in the back would have been highly unpleasant.

Our tour guide introduced himself as what I thought was "Johnny" but in reading the reviews, it was "Jean-Yves" all along. He was one of the best tour guide we've ever had. He was knowledgeable of the area, the history, and shared with us his little nuggets of wisdom here and there. He spoke excellent English and made the tour very pleasant for all of us. This tour was scheduled to visit Riquewihr, Kayserberg, and Hunawihr but because of us, he dropped Hunawihr and added Eguisheim.
Riquewihr was a cute little village with many half-timbered houses and vineyards off in the distance. It was very picturesque and we were able to see the entire village within the allotted time. We drove through small village on our way to our next stop, which was a high fortress village of Kayserberg. Kayserberg featured a tower that you can scale up to see a panoramic view of entire village from the top. While the hike up the tower was grueling in the heat, it was well worth it once we reached the top and saw the magnificent view of Kayserberg, and its surroundings. We could have maybe used a little bit more time in this village but we saw most of what we needed to see within the allotted time. Our last stop was the medieval village of Eguisheim, which was cute, colorful, and absolutely our favorite stop of this tour. You can definitely see all of this small village, which loops around, within the allotted time. We looked up images of Hunawihr after the tour and we were extremely happy to have gone to Eguisheim because Hunawihr looked a lot like Riquewihr.

Jean-Yves was kind enough to drop us off at the train station and what could have been a disastrous day with us eventually filing a complaint against the tour company turned out to be a perfect day. In the end, we were thankful that we didn't go on the other tours because this half-day tour was the best of both worlds: we didn't have to waste 2 hours at Riquewihr getting lunch, visit villages that we weren't interested in, spent time actually exploring Colmar, and it saved us more than 50% of the cost of the full-day tour. We weren't particularly interested in wine tasting either so Orphorus, the tour company, actually did us a favor in canceling and switching tours on us, and giving us an amazing tour guide to make our day a memorable one.

A must visit hidden gem. It’s the Cotswolds of France. Colmar is the place to stay. Hundreds of restaurants to choose from. We hired 4 bikes for around 6 hours for €32. and rode around the district.

We only had a couple of days to spend in Colmar area so the half day tour was ideal for us, considering we had not rent a car but still wanted to experience smaller villages than Colmar.Riquewihr was amazing but Kayserberg was my personal favourite of all. Our tour guide, whose name unfortunately I don't remember, was so knowledgable, friendly and with a great sense of humour!

    Definitely recommend it!

Our guide Miriam was so knowledgeable about the area and the history of the French and German influence! The transportation was comfortable and we stopped at some amazing photo op sites! Enjoy!
