About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- X6853NYmonicaw0 contributionsAmazing villageBeautiful village perched on a hill. Most of the buildings are very old but well maintained. The streets are cobbled and steep, so bring a hiking pole if you have leg problems. We went by bus from Cahors and pass through lovely countryside on the way there. It’s half an hour’s walk from where the bus drops you and parts of it along narrow roads with no pavement. This village is full of nice restaurants.Written 9 September 2024
- Fabhikes0 contributionsGreat visits in DordogneThe tour i did with Christian to discover Dordogne with my family was very memorable. I really liked the castles visits and also the town of st Emilion and Sarlat. Christian who is american and has been living in France for 30 years has good sens of humour, and a mix french and american charm that makes your trip really enjoyable.Written 27 May 2024
- Escape531197381940 contributionsThe drive was beautiful through the iconic Dordogne region, but our guide's knowledge seemed pretty superficial. The 4 of us are seniors and we were glad we inquired in advance about the type of car the guide had. We ended up agreeing to pay the guide twice the fee so he could rent a van. The van was fine, however, the three in our group sitting in the second and 3rd row of the van could not hear any commentary and there was no accommodation to amplify his commentary. Also the van did not have a stool to make it easier to enter and exit the van. What commentary that was heard was disappointing. It was largely what any of us could have read off a map, like the name of a castle. We chose not to pay extra and enter the caves which our guide explained would typically have to be paid for and reserved in advance.Written 21 May 2024

- Scenic615003747700 contributionsVisit to Lascaux IV and Rouffignac from BordeauxWe were in Bordeaux for two days on a cruise and wanted the experience of seeing cave art by visiting these two sites. Christian was an excellent guide to the region and made the two-hour trip each way very pleasant. We definitely recommend him as a tour guide!Written 15 June 2019

- minorleaguemom0 contributionsA fun, reliable guide with a love of FranceWe have used Christian Mayer as our guide throughout Normandy, the Loire Valley, and the Basque Country of France and Spain. He has become a genuine friend and with his American heritage, we have always had easygoing, informative tours. Wouldn’t think of hiring any other company when we return to France! - Jet251041042430 contributionsAdventure Exceeded ExpectationsChristian provided our small group of four adults with a customized tour through the South of France. He was very professional but also personable. We learned a lot about the history and saw many wonderful and interesting places. It was worry free as he took care of everything and we just got to enjoy the trip. I would highly recommend Christian.Written 9 December 2018
- T K0 contributionsPhenomenal Guide and TourChristian was amazing. His personal stories and knowledge of the areas that we visited was extensive and entertaining. We had a large group with us and Christian quickly warmed himself into all of our hearts and minds. He was adept at the more traditional sites and was more than willing and eager to recommend activities outside the normal boundaries. If we ever have a chance to visit France again we will most certainly return to our new friend, Christian. Oh, and don't forget to ask him to play the saxophone!Written 9 December 2018

- Bob B0 contributionsIncredible personalized tour of BordeauxMy husband and I had a wonderful experience touring Bordeaux and Rocamadour. Christian's insider knowledge of the area let us see France in a way few travelers get the privilege to experience. Our visits to Font de Gaume, the hanging gardens of Marqueyssac, and the Dordogne towns and Castles were very special. The authentic French restaurants that we were taken to allowed us to eat like locals; and then there were the wines!! Traveling with like this was like visiting a trusted friend with great knowledge and love of local history. We have travelled on tours all over Europe and the world and were especially impressed by the guide's professionalism and love of this area.Written 10 December 2017
- Anne C0 contributionsA tour that gave us just what we wantedWe booked a five-hour tour with a car and driver through 8rental.com and I was a little nervous about it as I could not find much about them. But I need not have worried....David Jonke has been running the Bordeaux tours for only a year and we were lucky enough to have him as our driver and guide. It is often hard to get across to a driver/guide what it is you want but David understood perfectly: a visit to a picturesque town (St Emilion), and a small family run vineyard where there wouldn't be crowds of visitors. And, finally, most difficult of all, a good meal at a traditional local restaurant. And that is what we got - no menu, just eat what is put in front of you. Six courses, wine and coffee for 14 Euros each. Perfect. Thank you David for a wonderful, authentic day in the Bordeaux region.Written 17 September 2017

It was a perfect day. Christian is pleasant, knowledgeable and provided a comfortable ride.
Lascaux is outstanding. The museum and tour were excellent, as is their restaurant.
Rouffignac cave was a pleasant surprise. Tour was in French, but the guide was considerate of English-speaking visitors and answered questions when asked.
It is a very fine tour.

Merci Monsieur L !
It was a pleasure meeting you and showing you a little part of the Dordogne valley in Southwest France.
There's lots more to see and visit in the Dordogne, and throughout the Southwest of France...
I will petition the Grotte de Rouffignac to provide tours in English as well; perhaps someday this will happen.

Christian was professional, knowledgeable and very pleasant. (He speaks English and French fluently, Spanish (I think) and a smattering of other languages, too!) He arrived early at 8:20a.m. at the hotel for an 8:30 pickup, and was a very good driver. We felt safe with him. We arrived at Lascaux with 10 minutes to spare before our tour began. Lascaux was just wonderful ! It is a fantastic museum and exhibit, expertly done. We ate at the café de Lascaux. It was just a panini, but it was tasty. Christian then drove us to tour the caves at Rouffignac. Although we had never before heard of Rouffignac, it was very interesting. It took roughly 2-2.5 hours to return to the hotel. The ride was smooth. We got back to the hotel at about 5:30p.m. It was a long day for us, but very worth it.

Nous serons à Bordeaux du 14 au 17 juin prochain. Est-il possible pour deux personnes de se joindre à un groupe et à quel prix?
