      Autumn biking in Beaune…🍁
Hard to find the words to express how much we enjoyed this day. Yes, it was overcast and spitting rain, but was told that’s common for this time of year so we dressed ready to go. It only rained for less than 30 minutes, if that. (Forecast was 75% rain that day)Then it dried up, and the rest of the day was beautiful. So don’t necessarily plan around just the forecast is my point. This experience is worth the weather risk! I also want to add that you should have experience biking outdoors. You won’t have to deal with much traffic at all (maybe 10-20% of total day). And if you can handle a spin class, then you should be able to handle this fine, but get yourself an e-bike. My husband did not and he had a much more robust workout. But then, I beat him on the hills! 🤓 Eric was our guide and simply the best! Cheers!

      A Highlight Experience in Beaune
A highlight experience while in Beaune passing through the Burgundy region! Eric was an awesome guide, very knowledge about the Burgundy region and Burgundy wines. Did this bike tour with 2 other friends, and we had a great time getting to know 5 other participants over lunch and wine. Pro tip - maybe consider the electric bike if you don't cycle hills often..!

      Great ride and great guide!
Beautiful ride through vineyards. Good workout, but still doable even with our 1yo daughter behind me in the bike trailer. Our guide (I think his name was Gulliam?) was super friendly and a great source of local wine making knowledge. Very interesting and ended at a wine tasting at a large Chateau. Highly recommend!!

      Incredible!
Absolutely incredible. Valentine was our guide for the full day tour and it was well worth it. Would recommend to anyone. Valentine was so happy to show us around and educate us on the tour. One of the better guides we’ve had in general. Truly loved the tour, the lunch, the wine, tube knowledge. 10 out of 10.

      Wonderful bike adventure
Highly recommended bike trip. The only way to see the quint and pretty towns of the region and sample some wine and learn more about winemaking and the history. A full day trip at a good pace. Some hills could be challenging for those that aren’t used to biking. Suggest an e-bike if 37km sounds like a challenging endeavour.

      Beautiful bike vineyard tour
Wonderful bike tour of the vineyards near Beaune. Includes two wine tastings; one with a winemaker. Very educational, and Guilliam was an excellent tour guide!

      Magical
Magical experience. 2 key bits of advice. 1 book direct and avoid hefty commissions to Viator etc. etc. 2 choose your saddle very carefully. Mine I didn't think about at all as I'm slim, fit and have biked before. It proved to be too narrow and hard and I shall spare further details. Did spoil the last few miles though ! Well organised and fascinating and biked thru some lovely scenery. I'd say if not up to a fairly long bike journey you'll be better to pay extra for electric bikes.

Highly recommend. Very enjoyable bike tour, knowledgeable guide.
Amazing bike tour of the cote de Beaune region of burgundy. We had a tremendously friendly and knowledgeable guide named Eric who had a constant smile and knew all the answers to all our many questions. He recommended we get the e-Bikes at the beginning of the day, and we’re so glad we did! It’s a 35km bike route up some hills and down some hills and it was much more pleasurable experience on the e-bike. We had 2 wine tastings at different producers and enjoyed a very nice lunch together. Beautiful views throughout the biking, and we passed by some famous plots in Montrachet, meursault, etc. Learned a ton, enjoyed many hours in the sun, ate good food, and drank some good wines. What more could you ask for? Big shoutout to Eric who was a phenomenal guide! Highly recommend.

Really great tour on bikes to introduce my teenage son to good wines! Very interesting tasting, good lunch and excellent guide. Theo was knowledgeable, likeable and helpful with bikes as well as wines. Chassagne-Montrachet tasting was our highlight!

      Best wine experience, ever!
What an amazing day with Valentine in the full day tour. We learned so much about the region, vineyards and a wine producers whilst enjoying time in the fresh air and seeing fabulous scenery. We have been on several vineyard tours in the past but this knocks spots off them. Our group was four in total plus Valentine (3 of us and 1 other). We started with a short ride to the top of the cliff, above Cote de Beaune. Valentine gave us an overview of the history/geography of the area and insight into region/village/cru meanings. There is a short steep climb (150m) in the first 5km and following a stunning Chateau a slightly longer but not so steep hill. Easily manageable on a standard bike although was out of breath at top of short, steep climb! First wine stop was in a glade with huge stone table. Wine and cheese provided by Valentine - delicious. We then cruised downhill through pretty villages and through vineyards to Chateau Chassagne-Montrachet. Cellars and wine tasting were exceptional. We then got onto the bike wine route for lunch in Puligny-Montrachet in a little restaurant. Classic 4 course lunch, included within the price. Drinks were extra. (Restaurant were great - my daughter only wanted a sandwich so there was no issues her eating the sandwich is brought with us.) We then rode to Meursault, stopping en route to check out a ‘Clos’ for grand cru grapes. Our final tasting was at Pommard. Final 4km back to base in Beaune. Truly memorable day out. Total about 30km of cycling, majority downhill/easy riding with fascinating insight into the region, wines and chateaux. Highly recommend and we will return to the area and do some other ride options. T

Beautiful vineyards and wine, with a friendly tour guide.
Valentin was excellent. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Good support to the slower ones in the group, with another member of the team staying at the back. Beautiful route and delicious wines to taste!

Vineyard tour on bike in Côté de Beaune with tasting.
Our tour was Half Day Bike and Wine Tour in Côte de Beaune. We had a group of about 10 people and our guide was Valentin. We began at 1400 and rode through the vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, tasting some wine at a rest stop and some more at a winery in Pommard. The trip was first class and our guide, Valentin, was superb. He has an in depth knowledge of everything that goes into growing, harvesting, the science of the soil and finally, the production of the wine. I recommend this trip to anyone who has time in Beaune.

      Beautiful!
We had an amazing afternoon with Valentine. He really took the time to explain the history of the area and the vineyards. He did not rush the experience and definitely made it for us! The cycle route is beautiful as well as the caves. Definitely would recommend this trip (and with Valentine if possible!!)

      Excellent tour!
My husband and I enjoyed the full day cycling and wine tasting tour leaving from Beaune. Our guide: fantastic. He was fun, personable and knowledgeable. He was excellent about keeping us safe the few places we needed to cross major roads, and encouraging without being annoying in moments we needed to work harder. Cycling: There are moments where we had the option to work harder (cycle up a hill) for the best views, or take it a bit easy through the lower paths of the vines. I would say, if the higher views are important to you and you are not in cycling shape, or if you just want to have a more relaxing/less sweaty time, upgrade to e-bikes for sure! If you are a cyclist, it's not necessary. My husband is, and he had no problem. The ride: The tour began with a stunning view atop a cliff where the van dropped us off and the rest of the day was a scenic ride through quaint villages and vineyards. The wineries and lunch: Lunch was delicious. Both wineries we visited were welcoming and very educational. We learned SO MUCH about this region, how to read labels, etc.

We love Burgundy wines, but have never been. We are also avid cyclists; our team has been expanding: 3 years ago a playful clown of a French bulldog came onboard, last year we were blessed with a baby boy. No time like now to take this show on the road ... to Burgundy. We were very fortunate to stumble upon Active Tours ... et voila - a programme of cycling, charming hotel stays, lunches and dinners, and of course wine tasting came together like magic.

The tour took us to Vosne-Romanee, Nuit-St. Georges, Aloxe-Corton, Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet and Mercurey. Everything was perfect, many thanks to Patricia for organizing, and to Matthieu for briefing. The guys didn't just organize perfectly - no mean feat for a cycling team featuring toddler and dog, but gave us clear notes and routes, so were able to save money by going without a guide (or spend it on food and wine :) )

A clear 5-stars to the Active Tours team for competence, passion and value for money. Cyclists take note!

Bourgogne Evasion for bike rentals - Absolutely 5-star-plus service and bikes. We booked months ahead for two bikes for four days. We arrived in the middle of a holiday weekend. The place was swamped with avid cyclists, but the staff were handling it all with great efficiency and in good humour. Our bikes were top of the line, smooth riding, comfortable, and no mechanical problems whatsoever. Very flexible allowing us to replace the regular bike with an e-bike for my wife on short notice for a couple of days. Great off-road bike paths through lovely countryside. With good advice from one of the staff, I had a perfect day on the back roads up in the hills. A magical experience made easy by the friendly and helpful staff at Bourgogne Evasion.
