On this intimate small-group tour of a Paris bakery located in the picturesque Montmartre neighborhood, you'll go behind the scenes and explore the production rooms where French bread and pastries are made. Your knowledgeable bakery guide will explain how to make the famous French baguette and will demonstrate how the machines work. In a warm and relaxed atmosphere, your guide will give you plenty of bread-making tips and will tell you about the bread history. Far from a factory with industrial methods, the French bakery you’ll visit is a typical small and independent Parisian production unit.  The bakers are skilled artisan craftsmen who have real passion for every aspect of French baking. In addition to your newly acquired baking knowledge, you'll also take home a freshly baked French baguette and a croissant! The exact address of your bakery will be sent to you after your reservation is made.

      A class worth taking!
Chef Didler gave the class a history lesson on making the perfect french baguette. He went through each step and each person had hands on involvement. I do wish there was more time dedicated to making of the croissant; however, it was a fun class and definitely worth while taking. Iris

      A pure French culinary experience!
AKIKO was a fantastic guide and comes highly recommended. She allowed us to experience shops that specialized in wine, chocolate, tea, meat and honey. She mixed in cultural knowledge as well. We would do this one again. You should try it.

      Nice time in comfortable setting
Pleasant midday visit with Dominique. Participating in making an interesting lunch which we got to share with his family. While food was cooking had some nice wine and learned about the cheeses of France.

BEWARE - TOO MANY LOOP HOLES
I booked Conversational French Language in Paris for 2 for October 14, 2024 at 6pm. The confirmation number is BR-1188227687 . The Teacher / Guide did NOT show up and the Tour provider did not even call us to inform us that the Guide will not be available. Myself and my Spouse waited at the meeting point from 5.45pm to 6.30pm. This is not acceptable. I requested from Marriot Bonvoy Tours for refund and was informed by Marriott Tours that the Guide informed them he conducted the Tour and with coffee receipt as evidence instead of a signed attendance document by us. The phone details of Guide was not provided for us to contact the Guide. However my phone number was stated in the booking / confirmation. I have written again to Marriott Bonvoy NOT to pay the Guide for services not rendered and to Kindly refund my payment of $183.44 for the Tour that did NOT take place. I am still expecting my refund from Marriott. I am also a life Time Gold /Titanium Member with Marriott and i usually book Tours via Marriott.

      Family friendly cooking class
We had a lovely time and learnt so great cooking tips. We were a little jet lagged, but Dury was very accommodating and tailored the class so our kids were involved and active. The food was amazing. Would totally recommend to anyone looking for a quiet setting for a cooking class

      Outstanding Tour!
We did the Small Group Paris Gourmet Walking Tour in the Latin Quarter with Luis Zarate and it was fantastic. Our small group had kids and adults and our tour guide did an excellent job making the tour fun and interesting for all. The streets and scenery were amazing and it certainly didn’t hurt that it was a beautiful day. I highly recommend this tour.

      A memorable meal
Our family loved our lesson and meal with Dominique. He was friendly, patient, and excellent at his craft. The meal we created together was delicious, and we really appreciated his food lessons, as well as his tips for navigating Paris and the rest of our trip. Hanging out in a chef’s apartment for a meal was a unique experience.

      Perfect evening
Our cooking class with Chef Dominique was fantastic! We had a little bit of trouble locating the correct building, but after that everything was perfect. Chef was friendly, personable and knowledgeable and we appreciated him welcoming us into his home. We were excited to cook Ratatouille and loved all the great tips as we talked…and the fun French music playing. We loved the cooking and also enjoyed eating what we made and visiting with Chef and his wife. We now look forward to trying the recipes at home! Thank you for sending those on to us! And Chef if you are reading this don’t forget to pass on that great music playlist of yours! Book this experience…you will be glad that you did!

Montmatre walking food sampling, super fun!
We did a private Montmatre walking food tour with Luis. He was very informative and explained all the little items we tasted at various spots. It was great because we stopped into places and tried things we wouldn’t have on our own!

      Understanding French Cuisine 101
Our cooking experience with Marthe was fantastic! We shopped and discussed the why on her selections. Very helpful. Went to three different shops in search of excellence. The entire meal preparation was dedicated to making us wiser about all three courses and their ingredients. The meal was fantastic and we made it! We both learned so much and would recommend others learn from Marthe: she enjoys teaching.

This tour is an excellent opportunity to be in a busy French bakery and to watch and learn about the daily business of a bakery and to meet the bakers. The background of the essential daily staples of baguettes and croissants.

An excellent view of a working french bakery. From yeast to flour to rising dough- 24 hours for a proper baguette. Then watching how the dough is rolled and cooked. Then a tour downstairs where the patisseries are made along with specialist items. And all sparkingly presented by a knowledgeable lady who filled in many details. And the staff were so welcoming. Despite a 3am start. An excellent time and a really good tour- well worth it.

We did a behind the scenes bakery visit. It was a very small bakery, you could see a bit of how they do the baguette and very little about patisserie. You can see only what they are doing at the moment, so when we were there there was not much to see. They were not doing croissants only some little puffs. They gave us to taste a piece of baguette and a small piece of cake.To take with us they gave us a cold baguette and a cold croissant, nothing just from the oven. The tour was less than 45 mins. The guide was nice though. Overall, too expensive for the experience, I will not reccomend it.

Hello inseraphin, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review after your visit! We apologize that you felt that the experience wasn't worth the price. Unfortunately, as this is an authentic French bakery, they cannot plan their baking and preparation schedules around the time of the visits; they must prepare different things on different dates according to what is needed at the time. Therefore, it is impossible to guarantee that visitors will see certain things being made during their visit. As for the gifts at the end, the baguette and croissant that you received were indeed freshly-made during that morning; these are not necessarily served hot, and it is typical in France to eat them colder or at room temperature. If you feel you are looking for a more complete bakery experience on your next trip to Paris, don't hesitate to write to us at contact@meetingthefrench.com; we offer personalized baking and cooking classes and would be delighted to welcome you back for an experience tailored to your expectations.

My teenage granddaughter and I visited a bakery this past week. We enjoyed gracious hospitality but the tour was long and tedious, even at one hour. The bakery was recognized for its quality and our tour guide was good. The bakery was small and they seem to work one bread and one pastry product at a time. There was a lot of waiting and watching. My granddaughter and I agreed we would not do it again.

Hello, Thank you for your review! We're sorry to hear that your time at the bakery seemed a bit slow or tedious. As the bakers have planned out their entire days and bake according to what is needed on the shelves at certain times, it is true that every visit is different and you may not get to see every product being made at once. We hope that you learned a lot from the experience and are glad you enjoyed your time with your guide Vincent.
