    Amazing
The Paris La Marais walking food tour was exceptional. We explored charming streets while indulging in delicious local specialties, from artisanal cheeses to exquisite pastries. Our guide's passion and insights into the area's culinary traditions made the experience truly enriching. Perfect for food enthusiasts wanting to taste authentic Parisian flavors.

    Amazing La Marais Food Tour
Natalie was an amazing guide! She knew the history, but more importantly the food. She was informative, interesting, and made everyone feel welcome. I definitely decided to do the tour last minute (like 1am for a 11am tour), and she had all my information and no issues checking me in. I loved all the food we tried, and getting to choose which cheeses we tasted was fantastic for me as someone who loved cheese. 10/10 recommend to not only experience some great food, but for a lovely walk around the Marais and learning the history!

Gastronomic discovery of a wonderful Parisien district
This was an excellent tour of Montmartre, covering not just food (which was the focus and the tastings were awesome), but also bits of history of the area and individual shops. Gaspard was an exceptional guide, talking just the right amount, pausing for questions and above all picking some great places to eat. Highly recommend this.

    Very highly recommend Antoine!
Antoine was a fantastic guide - very personable and he really knew the foods and the best locations. We’ve been on a few food tours elsewhere, and this was by far our best experience! The croissants alone would have been worth it, but we also had delicious cheeses, chocolates, macaroons, wine, and more.

    Amazing Guide… Amazing Tour!
The right guide makes the tour….every time! I must say that Jean was exceptional on every level. Firstly, he was punctual…right on time. He engaged us in a very friendly manor and shared history as well as culinary expertise throughout our tour. The food was amazing as he only took us to establishments that had earned the credential of “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” essentially best in class. The variety covered all that you would want…bakery with amazing fresh baked croissants, a fromagerie (cheese shop) …then to a wonderful sandwich shop that truly delighted the palate. Afterwards we headed to a macaron shop which was very iconic. Then it was on to the Jewish District for authentic Falafel. We finished with a delectable dessert spot that put the wraps on a great tour. Be sure to request Jean and you will not be dissapointed!

A wonderful food experience through Le Marais!
This was such a fun experience! Ingrid was our tour guide and did an incredible job. She was informative, personable, and very fun to hang out with for the morning. We learned about Parisian food but also the history as well. It felt like the food got better at each location and we ended with delicious desserts. This is the second Secret Food Tour I’ve done and I can’t recommend them enough. Thank you, Ingrid, for a wonderful day!

Great food experience with SFT La Marais walking tour and guide Achraf
Did the La Marais walking food tour with Achraf as our guide. The tour itself was great hitting some of the best cheese, pastry, and macaron shops as well as other great food stops. The tour was able to accommodate vegetarian requests. Achraf was engaging, informative, and super friendly. He gave us a lot of tidbit type historical info which we wouldn’t otherwise have known on our own and even helped up understand cultural food habits and etiquette. He was a wealth of information! He also gave us information on the neighborhood for some things we wanted to do on our own. Would definitely recommend this tour. As others have mentioned, come hungry!

My wife and I really enjoyed this trip. In fact, it was probably the most enjoyable thing we did in Paris. Alison was really informative and just a nice person to be around! We tried lots of different things and certainly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends.

Excellent food, charming guide and opportunities for sight seeing
Luz was charming and knowledgeable. I thought we'd just be walking around eating at different places but it was actually a sightseeing tour as well. She told us some very interesting stories about Montmartre and its history. The food was excellent and she was so organized. Me and my mom had such a wonderful time!

Our tour guide Ingrid was not very dynamic, and also made some of the people in our group uncomfortable. When we met up Ingrid showed up at the last minute and then scanned our health passes; one couple from the United States had the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and she told them they couldn't come because they had only one shot. She called the manager then told them it was okay. While this was going on she told one couple about going to the wall with "Love" written in all languages telling them they could go over there, but didn't say anything to the other couples, so if you didn't know the area (which most on the tour didn't) you would miss out.

Do not expect to sit down in a café or restaurant, this is all walking around to small places, most of them not run by French people. The last few places we visited, our guide just collected food to take to the "secret" location. I won't spoil the surprise location, but I hope you have a good talkative group, otherwise you'll spend a lot of time staring at each other, while waiting for the tour guide to serve the food and drink.

The food was really good on the tour, but I think it could have worked with a better guide. Overall, I really can't recommend it, you're better off just going to some shops to buy some food for a picnic, or actually eat at one of the cafe's we passed along the way.

Hi We are terribly sorry to learn you have not had a good experience with Ingrid who is a cheerful and beloved guide. To address your point, Ingrid followed the procedure, the situation with covid and each country has their own ever changing rules, in France, until recently, a single jab of J&J vaccine was not considered protection enough, in case of control, both the client and the company are fined 135€ by taking time to check, Ingrid ensured the safety of the group and the avoidance of delicate situation in case of control. Regarding the "Love Wall" this must have been a misunderstanding, the garden is just in front of the meeting point and the guide would not have sent just a couple there and not the rest of the group, nevertheless we have taken in consideration your review and asked the guide to make sure that announcements are made in a way that everyone can hear it. Now regarding the fact that the places we visit are "not run by French '' we are truly sorry but all the places we visit are French artisans or venues, only the macaron place is run by two Korean ladies living in France for decades. They have trained some of the best chocolate makers in Paris, they are an institution in the city and have their own workshop in their stores so you can enjoy the freshest macaron or chocolates, just to put things in perspectives, recently Ladurée famous "French" macaron maker has confirmed that their macarons are now all made in Fribourg (CH). Finally the selection of cheese and meat is done to reflect French culture and not what cheap tourist traps will serve you as classics, we are really happy to see that you have enjoyed the food's quality as we aim at providing you with fresh, quality and authentic food that we have in our fridge when friends come over. So by joining our tours you will experience much more than what you get in cafés. We truly understand your disappointment but we are sure that this was more a case of miscommunication and starting on the wrong foot than ill will. If you want to get in touch with our support team to discuss with us in which way we could regain your trust.

We have done a number of food tours, and this one was the most expensive and by far our least favorite. We certainly didn't expect this in Paris.

We did enjoy the stops at local shops and info about food in Paris for the first two hours. We stopped at shops serving crepes, macarons, chocolate, bread, meat, and cheese. After about two hours, the tour stops at the guide's wine bar, and we were there way too long. We were only served wine and sausage and cheese with baguettes, nothing hot. The guide went on and on about his interests which were wine and farm to table style cooking. He was repetitive. The tour was supposed to be 3 - 31/2 hours, and after 4 hours, my husband mentioned we had something else to do that day. He wrapped it up then, but we still had two more stops. Our tour ended up being 4 1/2 hours, way too long, and kept us from doing something else we hoped to do afterwards. What's more, it just wasn't fun because it drug on.
Other tours and guides (like Devour tours) give more history mixed in with the food info and pace the tour better. Also, the food just wasn't that great for the cost, and until the crepe at the end, we were hungry. There are better ways to spend your time and better food experiences in Paris.

Thank you very much for your recent feedback on our tour. We are always striving to improve our customer experience so appreciate your taking the time to leave a review. We were very surprised to learn of your experience as our Montmartre tour is one of our most popular and best rated globally (of around 75 hours!). Your tour guide, PJ is also one of our most sought after guides amongst our customers due to his knowledge and personalised approach, such as offering guests the option of a longer tour so we were sorry to hear on this occasion that you felt this impacted your tour experience. We're also disappointed to hear you nearly left hungry, but ultimately glad you didn't. This tour is designed to be like a traditional French style family meal; lots of cheeses, cured meats, wine and of course bread. 'Collect and eat' style as opposed to visiting a number of restaurants while learning about the unique history of the city and areas you explore. Thank you once again for your valued feedback and we hope you give us a chance to welcome you again on another of our Secret Food Tours in 50+ cities worldwide!

This isnt my first trip to Paris but it is my wife's first time and as such we opted to do this tour based on the reviews we had seen. Our tour guide was Yann and it started with a little history then a stroll for some chocolates, then off to taste Macarons (never had them but good gracious they are tasty-- try the coffee one!!), down through Montmartre our little group of 5 went to taste some fromouge (cheese), a few blocks away an amazing stop for baguettes, a stop for some sweet crepes, and ended at a butcher shop. All along the way history, photo ops, and laughter. We ended at their office and went down to this quaint cellar where Yann entertained us, fed us so much food, and gave us amazing wine.

It is rare, I do mean very rare, that I feel that we got more than what we paid for. This tour is one of them. Please come hungry. Hungry for local Parisian life and hungry for awesome food.

Here is the secret...if I could give this tour 0 stars rather than 1 it would be the proper rating. Set in a charming area with many wonderful restaurants you won't experience any of them. The first half of the tour you spend standing on the street while the guide goes into the stores to do shopping. There are 2 street stops for food which you have to eat standing on the sidewalk and choke down because no drink is provided. We had to buy our own water and the two streetstops are dessert related ie chocolate and crepes. So now that we have had our dessert the second half of the tour is spent in a dirty dingy windowless basement. To access it is a steep spiral stairway which no one elderly or handicapped could access. Since its the entry/exit to the basement you spend the last half of the tour in a fire trap. The ambiance of the basement includes views of cans and bottles of corrosive chemicals and stock for future suckers on this tour. The basement food is low end and consists of bread, cheap meat (mostly pork) and rather tasteless cheeses. Very average red wind (no choice of white) served with the meal. When it is all said and done the tour probably spends about $20 on the food/drink. Compared to other food tours we have been on this is an absolute rip off and waste of an evening in Paris. In a wonderful city full of great places to eat save your money by not taking this tour and eat else where. Any review above 1 star for this tour I find unbelievable.

Hi, thank you for leaving feedback about your experience. Although this is an overwhelming 5-star experience for 99% of our guests, being an award-winning tour, it was not for you and we do apologise for that. We do respect your opinion and hope you respect our other guest's opinions that rate this tour as a 5-star. The venue where we finish the tour with a tasting of cheeses and meat paired with the best wines has a french touch into which we put a lot of effort on. And it's cleaned every time we have a tour. As for the matter of value. The price you pay is for a guided walking tour with tastings of Montmartre food. You are not paying solely for the food but for an expert local guide weaving in local history and food culture. We offer historical and cultural food experiences. If you want to discuss this further plese email us at info@secrettours.com we would love to have you back and find a way to show you our experiences are worth going, all arounf the world in 50+ Secret Food Tours. Thank you

This food tour was an amazing experience. We were greeted by Emmanuel and he explained we will be going to all the local stores to get a little from each shop to than enjoy our feast! We went to the local chocolate shop, Macaroons, bakery to watch them make the Baguettes, fruit market, cheese shop and the butcher. We than went back to the head office and Emmanuel set the table with red and white wine. We then enjoyed all our purchases. My daughter is a very picky eater and she even loved this tour. If you are lucky enough to visit Paris I highly recommend this tour!!

There is only one word to describe this food tour: Amazing. It will blow your mind. As you walk through the neighborhood, the shopkeepers walk out to greet the guide. They invite the tour into the shop where you get to see how baguettes are made, how to distinguish between good meat or good cheese and how to appreciate Montmartre. NOTE: It is NOT part of Paris, but a village unto itself. And then there is the guide. PJ is the unofficial mayor of Montmartre and when you are part of his group, you are part of Montmartre. And all of this occurs before you actually taste food and sip delicious wine (while learning the finer points of appreciating wine and wine/food pairings). And then when you are done with your tasting, you continue on for dessert. It is a tour that you do not want to end. PJ we will be back within a year. And thanks to your in-depth knowledge and gentle spirit, we will be booking our stay in Montmartre and NOT Paris (words I never thought I'd write). P.S. Ask about some of the local shops that specialize in handmade women's garments, the best places (non-tourist) to eat and other tips. Unless you hate yourself, you must go on this tour.

We did not see any of the four tourist sites mentioned. The food tour was basically standing outside a business while the guide went in and bought food. We then went to a very tiny restaurant that was painfully hot. It was stagnant and hot and really crowded and uncomfortable. The guide was a pleasure - but I would recommend finding a bigger place with AC for the group to fully enjoy the food. And perhaps someone to assist the guide in serving would be helpful.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. At Secret Food Tours, we aim to provide unique and authentic culinary experiences. We regret that certain aspects fell short of your expectations. We recognize your perspective on enjoying food while seated and in an air-conditioned setting, and we appreciate your understanding of the dynamics that can affect where the selections can be enjoyed. Particular stops were developed with the intention of allowing our guests to immerse themselves fully in the local atmosphere of Paris. We'd also like to clarify that while some of our stops involve our guide collecting the food for the group, these moments are intended to ensure a seamless and efficient experience to avoid lining up for extended periods. However, we acknowledge your perspective and review how these stops are presented to our guests. Once again, we appreciate your time and thoughts. If you’d like to discuss this further, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@secrettours.com. We hope to have you again soon.

Beware - our guide never showed up!

My husband and I arrived early as the confirmation email suggested. We circled the metro station area looking for a guide and ended up running into on other couple who also booked the Montmartre food tour.

The time came for our tour to start and the guide was still not there. We continued to wait. Ultimately, the guide never showed up and on top of that, we received no email or message to let us know why. Extremely frustrating as it was our first night and we made no other reservations for dinner due to the food tour.

No one from the company was available at that time to respond to our questions despite emails sent by us and the other couple. After 45 minutes of waiting in the cold for our guide, we and other couple waiting agreed to leave.

Horrible experience and unprofessional for a guide to not show. Receiving no information and not having someone to reach out to in a foreign country left us feeling beyond disappointed.

It took time for Secret Food tour to respond to my email and they were unsure of what happened. Seems they have no checks and balance with tour guides showing up. I ended up receiving a refund, but my entire amount charged on my credit card was not received. It’s likely due to the conversion, but at this point it’s a reminder of their poor customer service in not checking in to ensure I received the proper refund.

There are many other food tour options in Paris. Some are more like a regular tour and leave you hungry, which is far better than someone not calling and not showing up.

Tip: We ended up booking one with Devour food tours and had a wonderful time.

Overall a great experience. Very fun and insightful info from the guide throughout the walk through Montmartre. Very interesting group and we highly enjoyed getting to know them while eating the food at the secret cellar.

Only downfall was that I have an intolerance for red wine. I was not offered white wine while the others had red wine (which has been the case when going on similar tours elsewhere). We first had one glass of white and were then offered red. However, when the guests were offered a second glass of red, I asked about a glass of white and was told no. A bit of a mood killer to drink water for most of the duration of the tasting, not to mention when considering the price of the tour.

Dear Maria Thank you very much for your valuable feedback, we are very surprised that if the wine was available that you were not offered another glass, as we always try to give a replacement for people with allergies or intolerances. Would you be so kind to get back in touch with so we can get more details and understand and clarify the situation. On a bright note we are happy to see that you did enjoy the group and the info provided during the tour. Waiting for your mail.

This was one of the highlights in my first trip to Paris. The places we went to, the food and the superstar: April, our guide! She is knowledgeable about the city, the neighbourhood and all spots around Montmartre, giving us indications about where to go for the end of the day. The food was delicious, especially the baguette and the cheese with black pepper - we also had a great group! And what can I say about the Secret Place where we have our tasting? It brought me all the emotions, memories of my grandmother and one of my favourite artists ever… It worth every euro paid and no money would be enough to reward April: she felt more like a dear friend than a guide!
