- abeytal0 contributionsOutstandingWorth every cent, Gustavo was an outstanding guide. Guided tour was a masterclass in European history. Extremely personable. This tour was a highlight of my trip to Paris.Written 4 July 2024
- Mobile7003080 contributionsBook a Tour unless you plan to spend a whole day there figuring it out yourselfIt was great to have hotel pickup and dropoff for this, as travelling by Uber/Taxi with a family in Paris can be challenging. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly and really knew how to get us through this amazing Palace in a few hours. The highlight was the time we spent in the gardens, which we would never have been able to navigate without a guide. He also could see that we were OVER the big crowds in the most visited rooms and took us to some lesser known parts of the Palace that were less crowded, and we were really able to enjoy the setting.Written 28 June 2023
- LoriBar0 contributionsOutstanding TourOur Tour Guide was Jean-Paul. Very knowledgeable, eloquent and passionate about history and life, which made the tour all the more interesting. It was just the two of us and Jean-Paul - the day just flew by. He's very good company. Prompt pick-up, organised and well thought through the day and professional in his approach.Written 16 June 2022
- proflewis0 contributionsEssential Guide to Loire ValleyThanks to expert driver-guide Isobell (spelling?), our trip to the Loire Valley was our best day in Paris. She expertly told us the history and culture, and inside the 3 chateaus pointed out original vs. restoration, actual vs. replica, and medieval vs. Renaissance. You could easily spend a half day at each castle, so having a smart guide was vital to using our time efficiently. Highly recommended.Written 1 June 2022
- TravelfromDC0 contributionsNot viable and not in keeping with original plans. Had to cancel. Viator did not honor plans. All was not as planned. Screwed uYou people are nuts. When booked Oct pickup was 1pm, then 2pm, then3pm. Far toolate for city plans. Tour time lateCall meWritten 22 April 2022
- leslies6980 contributionsBest Versailles Tour GuideOur guide, Gustavo, made the tour for us. He is very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, personable and made the tour fun. He explained in detail every room we visited and The Hall of Mirrors. His guided tour through the gardens was very enjoyable. If you want a guide who knows his stuff, is easy going, and wants to make your tour the best possible experience you could have, I highly recommend booking Gustavo. He gave us everything we were looking for and more. Thank you Gustavo.Written 3 September 2021
- Trail256469784660 contributionsBeautiful and guite place just outside Paris located in NormandyWe did the tour with a guide. Both the house and the garden, located in Giverny, where the famous impressionist lived and died, is worth the visit. The whole place is as fun to explore as it's inspiring. But you've got to plan it well. Especially in July and August the gardens are wonderful…Written 27 August 2021
- terryandrus2010 contributionsGreat tour of LouvreGustavo did a wonderful job with your tour . He was knowledgeable and informative. Basically gave us a history of art through the Louvre. Highly recommendWritten 25 August 2021
- jeff_in_bama0 contributionsGreat tour for handicapped people! One of the highlights of our trip to Paris and about as impressive as the Louvre. We took a private tour with a limo driver who helped us get our wheelchair through the Palace and gardens, and it paid to have a guide who knew about the secret staff only elevators who had the relationship to let me and my 400 pound wheelchair use it, or otherwise we would have missed the upper rooms which is where all the real things to see are located. Downstairs is more gift shops and ball rooms, but upstairs is where the bedrooms and recreation and dancing halls were located. The gardens were easy to navigate in a power wheelchair but I would not attempt in i manual wheelchair due to elevation changes, ramps, and cobble stones. But the palace itself is easy to see from a manual chair. Also, as of July 2021, you must have your CDC vaccine passport for admission if you are from the USA.Written 12 August 2021
- eslagel0 contributionsHassle free tour worth the costThis hassle-free tour with private transportation ended up being a Godsend with the transportation strike and train schedules to Versailles being seriously "iffy." Who knows if we'd even made it there without Gustavo picking us up in his comfortable van? Once there, skipping the enormous line also proved worth the extra penny as Paris and sites like Versailles are growing in tourist numbers. Gustavo was interesting, polite and willing to answer all questions related to history, French culture and attitudes. He even set up a private tour of the apartments per our request. It's a long day, but Gustavo didn't overwhelm us with information overload and by the end of the tour, we felt we had made a new friend.Written 4 January 2020
- 73Bucketlist0 contributionsDr.This trip was chosen primarily for an interest in a Medieval City and secondarily due to the employees' statewide strike. The bus ride was comfortable and tour guide while on the ride was informative. Arriving at our destination, the tour guide not only walked so very fast she RARELY had the group with her she was so far ahead of us. She would speak of a historic site while the group was not close to where she was. She was the worst tour guide. I don't recommend this tour with her as your guide.Written 11 December 2019
- AltheaTina0 contributionsVersailles Full Day Private Guided Tour with Hotel PickupWonderful! The guide could not have been better. He knew his stuff. I am a senior adult. He helped me in every way. From getting tickets, parking the car close by; evading the line, negotiating the stairs. We walked arm in arm like we were old friends. So very pleasurable. I would hire him again in an instant! KudosWritten 22 November 2019
- Leo M0 contributionsGreat tour with great guideWe had always wanted to visit Versailles and the opportunity to see it with our kids before they headed off to college made the trip essential. Having a very well informed guide to shepherd us around the lines and through the galleries made the experience that much more enjoyable. It also meant that we instead of fighting for food on the grounds we were taken into town to have a delicious lunch in a lovely French cafe in town. Then after lunch he took us back and showed us the other less crowded parts of Versailles - Trianon, the Queen's village, etc. And having a nice car pick us up at our hotel and then drop us off at the end of our day in Versailles was very, very pleasant and relaxing - no muss, no fuss. As for the price, for a family of four it was perfectly reasonable and the value was exceptional. I'm not sure I would choose this tour if I were just a couple (or solo).Written 22 October 2019
- Trude D0 contributionsAvoid the Group Tours! This tour was perfect! The guide was knowledgeable and personable. The tour manager let us know he might be a few minutes late, and he was -- exactly the 5 minutes predicted. The guide went ahead of us to secure our pre-paid tickets, so NO LINES! He made sure that our tour of the palace and the gardens accommodated the weather and our pace of walking through rooms or stopping to notice fine points of some of the paintings. He knew the history but not the "art appreciation" points that we noted, and he expressed interest in those "artsy" points, rather than being impatient to just get through each room (which we observed the group tour guides do). He suggested lunch at the reasonably priced brasserie just outside the Versailles gates rather than in the over-priced and *crowded* places on the palace grounds. Our all-day tickets got us right back onto the grounds after lunch. We learned, we laughed ... and we had a comfortable ride back to our Paris apartment afterward. HINT: Don't take photos inside Versailles or on the gardens. You can find excellent photos online. Spend your time EXPERIENCING being in rooms of that scale and luxuriousness, and learning how royalty conducted the business of the country at that time! Then you'll understand why the royalty "needed" the simpler Trianon buildings a kilometer away. "Working from home" wasn't for them, then, what it is for some of us now.Written 14 October 2019
