- 428johnathanl0 contributionsFrom Brooklyn to ParisRichard is an amazing tour guide. Like him, I also find my roots in Brooklyn, which made it easy for us to connect and find common ground. My girlfriend and I spent the entire day with him, first doing a morning “Photo Tour” followed with an afternoon tour of Saint Germain. Not only did he take us to all the hidden gems Paris has to offer, but his knowledge of the history of the City is impressive and we learned so many interesting details about Paris. I would not hesitate to recommend him to my friends and family spending time in that glorious City.Written 28 September 2024
- barryv7190 contributionsA few days in ParisI had the good fortune to take two separate walking tours with a wonderful guide Richard Neham. It is not your standard follow the guide tour, but rather the one you want. Richard takes you on streets that offer you a different view of the city and local gems you would otherwise miss. Including his favourite eating stops for food and treats, calories optional. It is much like taking a walk with a friend with beautiful and new things to see. I look forward to going on another tour with Richard when I return to Paris.Written 13 September 2024
- jpol20160 contributionsThe best way to see ParisRichard is an incredibly knowledgable guide, and clearly loves the city and its history. This was one of the most enjoyable tours I've been on in any city - highly recommend a tour with him!Written 28 August 2024
- kfberg0 contributionsExcellent tour with Richard!Richard was so knowledgeable, friendly, and funny, and he showed us parts of Paris we never would have seen on our own! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Paris, especially if it’s your first time visiting, but even if it isn’t!Written 27 August 2024
- Roving088146223480 contributionsA Walk in MaraisMy small group spent a few hours walking the Marais section of Paris. Richard took us to many off the beaten track boutique shops - mostly chocolates and sweets. He is truly a "local" and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. We saw a part of Paris we most likely would not have done on our own. Even if we did, we would have missed his personal touch and insight. We highly recommend Richard.Written 14 August 2024
- 844elissac0 contributionsFantastic Amazing Incredible Tour!!Every time I come to Paris, I arrange to take a tour with Richard. He is the absolute best and our time together is always the highlight of my trip. This tour was no exception. On this tour, I brought my teenage daughter with me. We met Richard by the Louvre, we took the metro to the Marais, and Richard showed us all of the small cheese and fruit markets, and little independently owned shops. He detailed the architecte and history of the buildings as we walked. We then spent some time relaxing and in the gorgeous Place des Vosges while Richard talked to us about French history. We learned so much and it was so entertaining. We explored the Marais’ boutiques and shops and had a blast discovering all of the hidden nooks and crannies that Richard knows like the back of his hand. Richard really does bring such vibrancy into each tour. He has an incredible energy, and he kept my teenage daughter entertained, which is not always an easy feat. In fact, she said that our time with Richard were her best hours in Paris! As always, Richard is a rockstar and our time with him was both educational, entertaining, and so much fun! I can’t wait to return to Paris and have another tour with Richard —we already have our day planned and I am counting the weeks until we meet again. Thank you Richard as always!Written 5 August 2024
- MicheleK7700 contributionsGreat Latin Quarter Tour!Richard is a wonderful tour guide. I already loved the Latin Quarter, but his insights made it all the more enjoyable; from: 1. the area around Notre Dame and Shakespeare & Co (including the ancient St Severin church which is as old as Notre Dame with similar gargoyles but small and quiet with the gargoyles just overhead and just a few people to sit and contemplate the surroundings and hear that great organ music during services); 2. A walk past the student quarter of the Sorbonne and rue des Ecoles (the reason for the name 'Latin Quarter" I learned becuse of the students learning Latin) with its school premises, bookstores etc. up the steep rue St Genevieve to the top of the Paris hills to see the Pantheon - burial site for so many famous Parisians (most recently Josephine Baker, adding to the few women buried there in their own right - not as spouse of a famous man- Marie Curie being the first) and to see the wonderful Eglise St Etienne du Mont, the old church where Paris' patron Saint St Genevieve is interred , with its wonderful old stained glass windows and the only rood screen remaining in Paris)- the location where the hero of Midnight in Paris ran into Ernest Hemingway coming down the street in an old car; 3.a walk past the Pantheon to rue Descartes which on its way south to rue Monge becomes rue Mouffetard, one of the very oldest narrow streets of Paris down which Roman soldiers walked........this being the neighborhod where you find the Place de Contrescarpe (a fountain surrounded by cafes including the one written about and frequented by Ernest Hemingway whose first Paris apartment is around the corner on rue Cardinal Lemoine and who wrote in a rented space on the top floor of the building now housing the Restaurant Verlaine - where poet Paul Verlaine lived and died when it was a hotel); to 4. the foot of Mouffetard where on sunday mornings Christian brings his accordian and his voice and passes out lyric sheets to all of the neighbors can sit and sing along with him and you can watch locals dancing. It is a wonderful old picturesque happy part of Paris which I already loved and learned to love all the more through the eyes of Richard Nahem.Written 22 July 2024
- robertrZ4064AQ0 contributionsEye Prefer Paris Tours is outstanding! We were introduced to Richard through our neighbor, the owner of an Atlanta Travel Agency. He had personally used him on a trip to Paris and could not say enough good things about him! Our first trip to Paris was in June 2015, Richard gave us tours of St. Germaine Des Pres; Marais and Paris Highlights Evening. Richard’s knowledge is extensive and his easy manner in walking with you makes for a comfortable tour. His creativity shines when he takes you into small unique shops…he most often knows the owner. We went back to Paris at the end of June this year and again made arrangements with Richard for another tour. This time we had him give us a tour of Palais Royal/Rue St. Honore. It was great seeing him again and enjoyed our time with him. Overall, we rate his tours as being “Outstanding” and highly recommend him to anyone wanting a personal, in-dept and often behind the scenes tour. Richard is more than a great tour guide; he helped us with restaurant recommendations and provides insight into other places to tour. We started following Richard on his blog “eyepreferparis” in 2015 and continue doing so today.Written 18 July 2024
- merry11920170 contributionsScrumptious MaraisA perfect introduction to the gourmet food of Paris, starting on the street where Richard lives, with THE BEST cheese, pastries, smoked salmon, wine, and fruit. After sampling these, I wished we had booked an apartment on this street in the Marais!! Richard was a knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We would definitely tour with him any time we are in Paris!Written 16 July 2024
- wendywO9431ON0 contributionsTours of ParisRichard took us on a driving tour of all the main sites of Paris the day we landed. It was wonderful, gave us a great sense of what we wanted to do while in Paris. Richard also gave us a private walking tour of the Le Marais neighborhood. It was amazing and showed us Parisian life. It made us want to rent a place in Paris for a month or more to immerse ourselves. You will definitely want to make arrangements with Richard for a tour!!!Written 13 July 2024

- F3484OBdonnal0 contributionsEye Prefer Paris May 2024I recently wrote about our 5 days of touring with Richard, but failed to say that this was our 2nd time touring with Richard. The first time was our last visit to Paris over 10 years ago. Since then I have referred Richard and his tours to many of my friends. Seeing Richard again brought back wonderful memories and this trip with Richard was even better. Shopping...the best spots. Dining...great recommendations. Chocolate tasting...no one better to be with. The list goes on. Looking forward to our next trip to Paris and Richard.Written 19 June 2024

Richard was amazing and extremely knowledgeable about everything Paris! My mom and I had an incredible experience with Richard on the tour of Montmartre and the Emily in Paris tour. We automatically clicked with Richard as he is originally from New York like us! We had so much fun seeing all of the great Emily spots and the view from the top of Montmartre! We saw Emily's apartment, her office building, and even got a treat at her favorite bakery displayed on the show. We traveled in a great taxi to get from place to place when we were not walking and even during the car rides, Richard pointed out sites and historical areas we were passing. We were able to go into the beautiful Sacred Heart Church in Montmartre and Richard gave us a great explanation of Van Gogh's life, specifically going into detail of his time in Montmartre as many aspiring artists lived there. During the entire experience, Richard shared so many facts about Paris, having so much knowledge about every area we passed during the experience. We even went to an amazing hot chocolate place while in Montmartre that I really enjoyed. We were sad we only had one day with Richard and are excited to return to Paris to take part in the other experiences he offers throughout the city! I would highly recommend Richard to anyone visiting Paris!

All the reviews I have read about Richard are accurate. He is an easy person to hang with. We talked ahead of time ..while in the States...to explain our unique situation; we have been to Paris many times but have only toured the Louvre and Musee D'orsay. We were also treating my sister in law , niece and nephew to their first out of the country experience. They only were here a week...we arrived a week earlier. So much to see! Richard recommended several tours, keeping in mind our older age, pace, and operating hours of the various institutions. It worked well. My sister-in-law was amazed at all we accomplished in so short of time. Richard N made it all possible. If he were unable to lead the tour, he had others to help.

While this was my seventh visit to Paris, my son, his wife and my 19 year old granddaughter had, at best, a day or two prior Paris experience. Starting seven months ahead of our planned visit, we began our “got to see/visit” list of Paris sites. I’d “met” Richard via his Eye Prefer Paris blog starting about five years ago. He and I had already exchanged emails regarding my love for Paris so when exploring our options for a tour guide for our June visit, there was absolutely no doubt in my mind who I’d choose. Others of Richard's tour guest have already commented on the specific sites they visited with Richard, but I want to let everyone know how Richard exceeded our expectations. First by showing up in a large, air conditioned Mercedes van with a driver. This allowed Richard to sit with us and share his extensive knowledge of each site visited as well as some general history of Paris. If I’d written the scrip for exactly what I wanted, there would be nothing I’d add to the actual tour fulfillment. Since my return to Atlanta, I’ve already shared Richard’s contact information with multiple friends and relatives who have plans to visit Paris. Richard gets “two thumbs up” in my book.

My daughter and I recently took a quick vacation to Paris. A friend had recommended Richard and he did not disappoint. Not only was he an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide, he also helped us with other details. He arranged for a private taxi to and from the airport and gave us recommendations for restaurants and shopping. This made our trip so smooth, right from the beginning. We were only able to spend one afternoon with Richard because of limited time, but we saw so much with him. We started at the Palais Royal and onto some lesser known shopping spots. We absolutely loved our time in Montmartre. As we walked the beautiful streets, Richard told us so many details about the artists who once lived there. We learned so much. We visited the beautiful Sacred Heart church which was at the highest point and enjoyed the spectacular view.
My daughter is 22 years old and a fan of Emily in Paris so we were able to see the sights from the series as well. He surprised us with tasty treats as we explored. We honestly felt like we were spending the afternoon with an old friend . My husband and I are planning another trip to Paris and look forward to spending more time with Richard.

We visited Paris with friends and did a driving tour of Paris by car and a walking tour of Montmarte with Richard. I highly recommend the driving tour early in your visit for Paris newbies (like us) as Richard gave a great overview of the city and helped us get the lay of the land. The walking tour of Montmartre did not disappoint - lots of local knowledge (those strawberries!), architecture and history. Richard also helped us with logistics on the rest of our trip including restaurant recommendations and connections to other great tour guides. Such a great host!

Amazing Tour Guide
The morning spent with Richard exploring Montmartre was one of the highlights of our time in Paris. His knowledge and love of this area was so insightful and made the morning so much fun as Richard knows Montmartre well. As we walked, he knew so much history to impart, but also knows the best places to stop for coffee, croissants, or other delectables that are unique to Paris. His love of Paris is evident, and he is happy to share this special part of Paris with those he meets. You will have the most enjoyable time with Richard, and we feel like we have a new friend in Paris when we return next time. A tour to remember!

Richard is a food connoisseur, making this a great tour for appreciating Paris’s best culinary offerings while also getting the history of this amazing neighborhood. It’s was helpful to have an expat guide who understands both the local and foreigner perspective and could answer all our questions about daily life in Paris. Another plus is that Richard is a great photographer and will gladly take photos of your group.
We had fun, would recommend!

Richard was so accommodating, personable and knowledgeable. We hadn't been to Paris in years and his 'Highlights' Tour was the perfect way to acquaint ourselves with this city. Not only were the logistics perfect but the depth of information at his command was impressive! We took another tour with him the following day to Giverny which was equally wonderful. Afterwards he even introduced us to a fabulous lunch at an out of the way chateau with one of the delicious, beautiful dining experiences that are such an important experience in France. Thank you, Richard!

Richard was a wonderful tour guide! The moment my husband and I met him, we grabbed some breakfast and I felt like we were old friends reconnecting. He took us to a great café and then walked us around Montmartre and showed us everything we wanted to see and more! The best part was learning and uncovering things we didn’t expect! Then he took us over to Le Marais, which was an area I hadn’t thought about going to, but the streets and sites were amazing. All of the art galleries and everything he took us to and showed us. I highly recommend spending time with Richard during your stay whether it’s your first, second or 10th time visiting Paris!

We had two wonderful tours with Richard this past week, Montmartre and Marais. The pleasure was ours. Richard is an incredible guide, his ability to impart such interesting history and give such a flavourful and authentic tour was wonderful. As we walked the areas, Richard gave a fantastic gastronomical tour as well. The most wonderful patisseries, chocolate shops, restaurants, antiques and the list goes on, Richard knows them all.
He knows the hidden little streets and unusual points of interest that we would never have seen on our own.
We look forward to our next stay in Paris.
Thank you Richard for sharing the most beautiful city with us.
