Excellent day tour of Utah, Omaha beaches and related areas
An full day tour from Bayeux made exceptional by our friendly guide Julie. She explained the allied objectives and the problems they had to overcome were visible first hand. Our first stop was the church at Sainte- Mere- Eglise and she offered a few new explanations regarding the parachute landings there in the opening hours of the landings. The museum at Utah was very good and we spent a good time on both Utah and Omaha beaches with Julie explaining in detail the problems the allies faced. The defences and topography of Pointe du Hoc were amazing with so much battle evidence still visible. The tour finished with a stop at the Normandy American Cemetary, a fitting end to one of the most memorable days we have experienced... much of which can be attributed to Julie's knowledge and enthusiasm...

Excellent tour to one of the most surreal places
We did the full day tour to Mont St Michel (from Bayeux) in early January 2025. The trip to Mont St Michel itself is a couple hours each way, so you spend a lot of time on the road, but our transport was a nice new Mercedes van so it wasn't too bad. You get to see a bit of the countryside at least. Mont St Michel itself is unreal. You've probably seen pictures, but you don't really appreciate the size, scale and beauty of it until you're standing right in front of it. The place just oozes history, having been around in some form for more than 1,000 years. A couple dozen people still live there, and there's plenty of souvenir shops and eateries to satisfy your touristy needs. Our tour guide Kate was awesome. Not only does she have a huge amount of knowledge about the buildings and monastery on the mount itself, but she also gave us a LOT of information about the history not only of Mont St Michel itself, but also of the surrounding region. In short, a great tour to one of the most visited places in France (and rightly so). Highly recommended!

        Must Do from Bayeaux
Eric was an excellent tour guide. He’s very knowledgeable, and you can see his passion for WW2. It was a jam packed tour and one of the highlights of our trip. We only had 5 on our tour, so it felt like a private tour. The van is comfortable, and the stop for lunch was very good. I liked not having the food price included. This is an absolute must do in your lifetime. These men sacrificed so much for freedom. I’m so glad we did this tour from Bayeaux. It gave us extra time at each location.

        Highly recommend this great tour!
We had the best day! The tour that Alec gave was so informative and very interesting. The visit to the beaches, The Utah Beach Museum, and the stops in between were fantastic! The American Cemetery in Omaha Beach is so moving and breathtaking. Be sure to be there for taps. What a beautiful and emotionally great site that pays tribute to those who gave all. Alec’s recall for numbers and interesting facts is remarkable. He, an Englishman transport who lives in France knows more about the USA, Great Britain and France together than anyone - especially ourselves!

        Omaha Tour
Ou guide was very knowledgeable and made very efficient use of the time allotted. He spoke English. I would definitely recommend and take this tour again. The area is large and the history vast, this tour allows for a good understanding while also covering a lot of areas geographically.

        A meaningful experience
I have wanted to see the Normandy beaches for quite a while . Finally had the opportunity in December. The weather didn’t really cooperate, but we were ready for it. The stories of Eric , our guide, were still compelling and he clearly knows his stuff. We were a small group of 8 in the van and as expected at that time of year, it was pretty empty. We really got a good sense of what the fighting had look3d like. I’ve taken off one star because I felt very rushed at our last stop, the US cemetery. It was closing at 5, we got there about 4:30 and they wouldn’t even let us walk all the way down because it closes at 5 on the nose. Nor did we have time for the Visitor Center there, which I had read was fabulous. Sadly, this was because we spent about 45 min listening to Eric while standing outside the first stop at the church. While interesting, that stop could easily have been 15-20 minutes which would’ve left us more time at the end. I felt as if our timing was off all day.

A memorable trip to St Michel's.
Katell picked us up in her clean and modern Mercedes van and drove us from Bayeux to Mont Saint-Michel. The journey took about 90 minutes, after which we made our way to the island. Katell's English was excellent, and her historical knowledge of Mont Saint-Michel, the Normandy region, and the military involvement during World War II was outstanding. She patiently guided us through each area of the monastery, explaining everything carefully, passionately, and precisely. The pace of the tour was perfect. Well done!

Fabulous and deeply moving day on this day trip from Bayeaux. Matt was the tour leader, and from beginning to end, he brought to life the history of the D-Day landings and the weeks that followed. Highly recommend.

        Awesome tour !
The trip to Mont St. Michel was an excellent day ! We were delighted with our tour guide Julie, who described the history and uniqueness of the site with great detail and showed us the distinct beauty and highlights of the area and took the extra steps to answer all of our questions. We highly recommend her for your guests !

        Best Tour Ever!
This was, by far, the best tour I have ever had and the highlight of me and my wife’s France trip! Bucket list item checked off! Seeing the sites of where American soldiers landed and jumped into Omaha Beach and Utah Beach was amazing. My great uncle was at Omaha Beach on D-Day and to see where he landed was a moment to remember. Eric, the tour guide, was very kind, very knowledgeable, and all around amazing. We will definitely book with Gold Beach Company again!

        Memorable Day in Normandy
Alex is a terrific tour guide! He has an extraordinary understanding of World War II Normandy, and he's passionate about the people who have stories that need to be told. His telling of those stories in the places they occurred is incredibly moving. He's also very funny. The combination made for a very enjoyable and memorable day.

        Incredible Site, Solid Tour
This was a well-organized tour of an amazing place. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Mon St Michel, from the long walk across the land bridge to the climb to the top of the monastery. Our tour guide was good, very knowledgeble and personable. I would have enjoyed more interaction - more stories and chat - during the long drive between Bayeux and the site (and back). Otherwise, very pleased with the tour.

        Excellent Tour
This is a full day tour of the D-day area, with five stops - the town of Sainte Mere Eglise, Utah Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, and the American Cemetery. We had some free time at Utah beach to visit the museum (entrance fee included in the tour price) and at the cemetery. The tour was well-organized and our guide was excellent. Every stop was interesting and the stories from our guide were moving. We especially appreciated the sequence: visiting the cemetery last, we were in time for the daily playing of taps and lowering of the flag - a very nice ceremony.

Gold Beach Tours is Outstanding. Spending an afternoon with a tour guide that is local, experienced and passionate about the subject is worth far more than the price paid for the tour and will leave you with an understanding, appreciation and empathy for the participants that can be assigned to a scrapbook or movie. Simply put, if you want to live the experience as closely as possible, I recommend Gold Beach tours.

Our guide Katell represented the topic faithfully and accurately and added layers of detail to the places we stopped and visited that will never be found in books and movies. Her passion for the topic at hand was amazing and awe inspiring and her commitment to telling the story left a strong impression. Obviously, there have been dozens of films made about the subject and more books than can be listed about the events of Normandy in WW2, but an experienced local guide such as Katell can lay the groundwork for seeing it up close and hearing about the details that books and films simply don't have the time to cover. Though I felt that I had read every scholarly book on the subject, the value I gained in listening to Katell give us the tour was immense. I have visited WW2, and resistance sites in Denmark, Holland, France and Germany and this experience tops them all, with the greater lesson being the impact that was made upon the local population.

If you think you're even slightly interested in the subject, spoil yourself and see it first hand and pay a guide like Katell to give you a tour. The experience will be like none other and it will give you a lifetime of memories and appreciation for the sacrifices made by all that experienced D-Day first hand.

Our guide “Igor” was Fabulous! He was so knowledgeable, friendly and down to earth. We saw so much and took away wonderful memories and pictures! Igor provided us with the rich history and information, while at the same time giving us moments to ourselves to explore and reflect on all that happened in Normandy. It was surreal to know we were driving on the same roads and through the same towns that my husband’s father traversed all those years ago! Igor also provided us with fabulous restaraunt and pastry recommendations and obliged our request to visit the Apple farm and acquire Normandy’s “famous” cider and brandy!
We only spent a full day with Igor, yet he fueled all three of the days we were in town by being totally present with us that day; providing information, answering our millions of questions, and giving us the total flavor of Normandy then and now! Thank you for a FABULOUS day in a vintage army Jeep! We’ll be back!

It was a rainy windy and cold day and one would think miserable being in a military Jeep with open air on each side… However, the tour and experience was AMAZING!!! Thomas Bernard was funny, friendly knowledgeable and very passionate about history and Normandy. He made our day!!! We are so grateful for the historical information and the stories. Thank you, Merci’. 😀

We had an awesome day with Eric on a classic jeep tour. He was able to answer all our questions and kept the tour not only informative but entertaining. We saw everything we wanted to and more. Riding in the vintage jeep was a blast and a great way to see the sights. We were the envy of other visitors.

The tour took us to all the interesting locations and have us so much more information and individual details than a guide book could. It was particularly good fun to ride in the Jeep and as it was a sunny day having the roof down was a bonus, also loved going down quiet roads and farm tracks to see the countryside along the way.

Sophie did a great job. Knowledgable and funny and got us off first thing in the morning. Only 7 people in van and we were first bus at Pointe du hoc and at the cliffs. She knew how to move you along to be able to see everything yet have 15 minutes at each stop to explore on your own. Good experience and I would use her and them again.
