Only way to site-see
Jul 2019 • Business
I arranged a tour for a VIP clients of ours and this is the brilliant feedback she gave:

We had an incredible day with Lena. She was very efficient and knowledgeable. Great English and a genuinely lovely person.

The itinerary was well put together and timed so that we saw all the sites without the crowds. I must say that it is possibly the “ONLY way to site-see”.

Thank you Lena for your amazing tour.

Passion is Everything
Apr 2019 • Couples
I cannot recommend Lena Biehler of Bayeux DDay Tours highly enough! Ms. Biehler is PASSIONATE about Normandy & and has virtually an encyclopedic knowledge
of the region.
We spent 3 days with her seeing the DDay Beaches, Mont St. Michel and a cheese & cider/calvados tasting. She was marvelous in every venue.
WWII never was so real to me until this trip. Ms. Biehler knows so much abt the landing & she cares so much abt what happened, how it happened & who made it happen, I was enthralled. Her knowledge is not limited to the beaches as we drove through the countryside, she made the action that took place in the villages & fields come alive as well.
Her knowledge at Mont St. Michel was also stunning. Ms. Biehler is a registered guide with France so she is able to accompany you into the Cathedral. Again it was a deep dive into history & architecture.
Our third day was casual & a hoot. Cows, cheese, calvados & slightly risqué stories abt Deauville.
If you are going to Normandy (and you should), I don’t think you could find a better guide/companion than Lena Biehler, Bayeux DDay Tours.

Fantastic!!!
Apr 2019 • Friends
We took the afternoon 1/2 day tour, to Pointe de Hoc, Omaha Beach and ending at the American cemetery. The closing ceremony with 21 gun salute and taps was very moving. Our giude Mike van den Dobbelsteen is excellent. If the history is an interest of yours, take a full day tour.

Fantastic Guide!
Mar 2019 • Family
We took a half day tour with Lena of Pointe de Hoc, American cemetery, and Omaha beach. She joined my small family of 4 in our rental car (it's cheaper if you provide the transportation) and did a great job involving our two sons (6 and 11 years old) in the discussions. It was SO great to have here there to provide background, answer questions, and take us directly to the highlights. If you have a small group or family, this is the way to see Normandy sites - and so much better than being in a larger tour group. Lena never rushed us and adapted her tour to our pace and questions. I would absolutely hire her again - she was worth every penny (Euro)!

Dear Ben, Thank you very much for so nice review and for your reservation. Also, I'm so grateful that I was able to share that half-day with your and family. Your visit helps keep the memory about all brave soldiers! Lest we forget.

Thank you Lena
Oct 2018
We had enlisted Lena to show us the American sites while we were in Cherbourg on a shore excursion. With so much history in the Normandy area, we wanted to get as much information and see as many sites as possible while we were there. Unfortunately, the weather was horrible and as such, the American Cemetery was closed. Lena is a wealth of knowledge and shared it all with us. She uses a headset to project her stories so those in the back seat of her car can hear. Very beneficial. I wish other tour operators did this! Even with bad weather, we saw Omaha beach, Utah Beach, Sainte-Mere- Eglise and Angoville-au-Plain where Kenneth Moore and Bob Wright were medics who helped any injured, from any side. Amazing place to visit and fascinating story to hear. We had lunch at the Roosevelt on Utah beach. A very good day, even with crummy weather. Thank you Lena!

Incredible day. Incredible guide!
Sep 2018 • Couples
My husband and I hired Lena for a full-day tour. We are so happy we did! Lena worked with us in advance to identify and prioritize the sights we wanted to see (Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, American Cemetery). With that in mind, she crafted an itinerary that took us to those sights, and so much more, including Sainte-Mère-Église, Carentan and Pointe du Hoc. She had a binder filled with maps and other photos to help tell the story of what happened on D-Day and that days that followed. My husband is ex-military, and she was able to talk about munitions, military strategies, and things not every tour guide would be able to do. Our experience was much richer because of her guidance and expertise. We'll be recommending Lena to anyone we know heading to Normandy!

D day landings tour with Lena
Sep 2018 • Friends
We booked Lena for a 2 day private tour for the American & British d day landings. She was brilliant. So knowledgeable & gave us lots of information that you just couldn't get from books or by visiting the sites & museums etc yourself. Highly recommend Lena for this & the other tours she does.

Lena is an incredibly knowledgeable WW2 History tour guide
Dec 2017 • Couples
My husband and I traveled to Normandy to visit some of the historical WW2 sites. We hired Lena for a 1/2 day tour to see Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, and the American cemetery. My husband, an army pilot, is very knowledgeable about WW2 history and we hoped for a tour guide that would be able to share information that he has not yet learned. WOW, Lena is so passionate about what she does and she presents comprehensive information in a very interesting way. Her knowledge is extensive about the history of each site and she is interactive in her sharing of information. She was pleasant, professional, relaxed, and a joy to spend the day with. Worth every penny. If we ever go back, we will hire Lena again, and would not hesitate to recommend her tour to anyone interested in seeing the D-Day Normandy sites.

Poignant Visit
Sep 2017 • Couples
We visited Normandy Beaches with my partner's parents, both of whom were children during the war and have real experiences. It was a fantastic visit. At times very emotional. I felt sad but also felt glad that I had come and paid my respects.
There is a lot to see. It's too much for one day's sight-seeing so you have to be clear what it is you want to see. There's Omaha and Utah which was where Americans landed, Sword and Gold for British and Juno where Canadians operated. There is also American Cemetary and Pointe Du Hoc. So decided what you want to see and a booked guided tour is recommended since the guides will drive you from one place to another and provide you with valuable information. Our guide was excellent. She was with Panoramic Tours and had a passion for her job. She also had local stories she told us which made the whole experience very real. The best place to stay to visit is Caen but Bayeux is a bit further away but much more historic. It has the famous Bayeux Tapestry but also an excellent Normandy Battle Museum and the Commonwealth Cemetary.

What a memorable trip
Aug 2017 • Couples
My wife and I were stationed in Germany for three years and while we visited many WWI & WWII sites, we never made it to Normandy. That was rectified this summer when me made a short trip to Bayeux and hired a private guide to give us a day tour of St. Mere Eglise, Pont du Hoc, & Omaha Beach. We started the day at a German Cemetery which set the somber tone for the day.
Our guide was raised in Bayeux and had a vast knowledge of the events as they unfolded on 6 June, 1944! I found Pont du Hoc especially interesting because of the manor in which the Rangers were able to scale the cliffs and silence the guns which were trained on both Utah & Omaha Beaches.
We were taken to a classy seaside restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious lunch of fresh seafood.
Afterwards we spent the remainder of the day at Omaha Beach. Wow! As I gazed on the water from a pillbox, I could imagine the bloody carnage as the "Greatest Generation" waded through the water in the face of withering fire! Among those invaders were two of my uncles!
We closed the day by visiting the Omaha Memorial and Cemetery. Our guide made sure that we were present for the lowering of the flags and for the playing of taps.
A somber beginning and a somber end to a perfect day! On the way back to Bayeux we drove the same back roads that the allies traversed.
