- tarangaa0 contributionsBonn Christmas Markets are the best and delightful for all agesI did not do this tour but wanted to talk about the Bonn Christmas markets because they were the most spectacular little makers to start with in Winter time in Germany. We were travelling to Phantasialand and then went to Bonn and there we did the Xmas markets and they were delightful and full of fun and the people were all there having fun and enjoying themselves. So if you are travelling in Germany in November when the Christmas markets start and if you are travelling to Bonn, do not miss out on the fun and delightful Xmas markets there.Written 25 November 2024
- Marf136690 contributionsThis medieval city raised havoc on Jews from Middle Ages thru WWII.Regensburg was founded as an imperial Roman fort. As part of the Holy Roman Empire, it housed the Perpetual Diet of Regensburg (Reichstag) from 1663-1806. The Stone Bridge spanning the Danube River (built around 1140) opened up trade routes between Venice and the North. The Old City Gate is at one end of this bridge. Peter the Hermit led a mob of 1st Crusaders to force mass conversion of Jews. Those who resisted were killed. Those who fled, later returned and lived in relative peace until Nov. 9, 1938 (Kristallnacht) when the Synagogue, homes and stores were destroyed and 220 Jews were arrested and deported to Dachau. Note that Regensburg, like most communities in Europe, has numerous Stumbling Stones in its streets.Written 18 November 2024
- sharonaN7791IX0 contributionsHistoric beautyWe had a couple days in Hanover, Germany and decided to take a private walking tour with a professional guide. Our guide Anna was fantastic. She met us in the heart of the city and our adventure began. Each turn was like a walk though a different time in history. There are still walls intact from the 14th century. The city had to almost completely rebuild after WWII since a vast majority was destroyed by bombing. The city did an amazing job of keeping the historic feel while at the same time acknowledging the damage of war. Hanover is beautiful and definitely worth a stop.Written 3 November 2024

We enjoyed our Tour guide. We got an inside tour of there wonderful artifacts. He shared intersesting stories, and theories. There is an area you can pick up a bite to eat and a store for souvenirs. There are paved paths to walk. We were not prepared for the weather that blew in that day.
