Stop At: Silent Night Chapel (Stille Nacht Kapelle), Oberndorf bei Salzburg Austria
The tour starts in Freilassing at the Hotel Oedhof. We start north via Surheim to Laufen an der Salzach. There we cross the border with Austria on the Europasteg. Here in Oberndorf, after about 17km drive, it is possible to make a detour to the Silent Night Chapel. This is dedicated to the memory of the famous Christmas carol "Silent Night, Holy Night". It is also possible to visit the museum of the same name.

Stop At: Gnadenort Wallfahrts-Kirche Maria vom Guten Rat Gstaig Feldkirchen bei Mattighofen, Gstaig, 5143 Gstaig, Austria
Continue through Oberndorf in the northeastern Flachgau. The route takes us through small country roads through the hilly landscapes of the Alpine foothills, which were formed by the last ice age. After another 19km we arrive in Gstaig. In the inn, which marks almost half of the tour, you can strengthen yourself with regional delicacies extensively.
Rested, we drive across the country in the direction of Nussdorf. Along the foot of the Haunsberg along the route leads us south. In Nussdorf we turn off to the Wachtberg to avoid it. Through small villages it goes down into the Salzach Valley.
There, the route is flatter, after 55km so far a welcome recovery for the leg muscles. From here, there are always quiet opportunities to stop, to enjoy the silence and to unwind.
Past the Salzachauen our way runs through picturesque villages in the direction of Salzburg. The last section in Austria goes through Salzburg / Liefering to pass the border to Germany at the Rott dam power station. On the way back to the starting point, there is the possibility to end the day in the beer garden of the Gasthof Zollhäusl.
