Excellent guide ‘Hein’, very knowledgable (in Dachaue only certified guides are allowed). Hein was very considerate, making sure the group of 24 stayed together in the railway stations and the bus. He also made sure that no one in the group had a problem, as the tour took longer than anticipated, due to questions raised by the group or the group wanted to spent a bit more time.

The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site tour with Mark as our guide was extremely informative; and Mark delivered the review of this sobering history with great respect towards the victims of Dachau concentration camp. Taking the train and then a city bus to the Memorial site was efficient and stress-free as the tour price included all transportation tickets. Mark was easy to hear, had several visual aids, and gave us several insights beyond what could be found in the museum. The only misstep in the tour was allowing only 40 minutes in the museum when one hour is definitely needed to see all the displays with any sense of thoroughness. I highly recommend Radius Tour Company for this particular tour.

Thanks for your review. We agree that Mark is a great guide. As for your time in the Museum ... we try to balance free time with time with the guide, and access to the museum exhibition with time to see the historic buildings of the former concentration camp. Many years of experience lies behind how we do this, and we are confident our tour provides a highly memorable and educational experience.

It’s hard to describe this tour in sufficient terms - the tour itself was excellent and our guide, Keith, was outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable and took his job seriously to communicate details of a really hard place/time well. This was a very sobering experience, but would definitely recommend everyone going. It’s worth your time!

My only feedback to the tour company would be that it would be really helpful if there were some sort of headsets for the group to wear. It was tough to hear the guide at times.

Thanks for review and the kind words about our guide Keith. Thanks for the feedback regarding headsets too. This is something we have considered and looked into in the past, though after weighing up all the pros and cons of conducting our tours by both methods we decided the way we currently opperate allows our guides to deliver a personable, connected and engaging tour. Keith tells me there were a number of loud groups at the concentration camp memorial site on the day of your visit so we appreciate it may have been hard to hear at times as a result. It sounds like you had a worthwhile experience all the same and we are grateful for your review.

As this was our first time at a Concentration Camp, we decided to take a paid Tour (we normally are Free Walking Tours affecionados).
We were slightly confused with the meeting point (as on one side the email said in front of platform 32, and the other a street outside the station), but when we arrived we were told that the guide would be late (she had a bike accident, so for the first hour she was still shaken by it).

As we arrived (Maxine's first time doing this tour in 18 months, with covid restrictions) she pointed us old SS houses, were the last deportation train stopped and described the pictures you find in front of sites.
On the bus coming she did get some important numbers wrong (like prisoners that died on the last deportation train, nearly 3000 not a few hundred).

What annoyed us was her approach in the museum (where she wasn't allowed to guide us around). Now, I understand that in a 5h long tour, you don't have much time (like 2h) to read all the posters and stories shared in the different rooms, but expecting us to view 4 rooms in just 5 minutes is just not enough.
Also, to explain some things, she had to collect the group (7 people in total), heard them outside (in the sun, but it didn't bother us), tell and show us some pictures and then go back in), and this happened like 3 times.
Yes, I don't think we would have seen the part behind, where you had the standing cells, vip... or the story of the 4 women and bomb maker, but personally I would give at least 1:30h to visit around.
Yes, at the end of the tour, you can buy a book that has the same things written in the posters, but it not the same heart-wrenching experience of standing in the same room where thousands of people lost their dignity and identity.

From the museum, we went to see the only two bunkers left, see the change that happend (but we couldn't enter because of covid), the 3 different memorial buildings and the crematorium.

All in all, I think I recommend people to go alone, get an audioguide, and spend time looking around, because nearly all the things the guide told us (sometimes incorrect) you can find them reading the posters.

We are sorry that you did not find the experience worthwhile. We are here to give our customers an enriching and memorable experience, and regret it very much if someone feels that did not happen. We also have great faith in our guides, and in this instance I must defend Maxine. She is one of our most experienced guides, and has been getting excellent feedback for years. If she was a little shaken by a bike accident before the tour, that can't be helped. She acted professionally and proceeded with the itinerary, and you had a full tour of all the historic buildings. It is true that Covid regulations mean that she was unable to guide you through the Museum exhibition. That is not Maxine's fault. In such circumstances, we like to give priority to the actual historic buildings of the former concentration camp, and Maxine did that. While the Museum exhibition is excellent, we simply do not have enough time to add 1.5 hours extra to the tour to give you time to go through all of it - and in our experience, most visitors would not want that. The tour is already 5 hours long, and in that time we bring you from Munich to Dachau and back again, and give you a comprehensive tour of the entire Memorial Site in the company of professional guides like Maxine, who are trained and authorised by the Memorial Site. Nevertheless, thanks for your feedback. If you ever come on one of our tours in future, we hope and expect you will be happier with the experience.

We had a very impressive tour at Dachau with our tourguide Mark-Oliver! He spoke English very well and had a lot of information about the concentration camp. He definitely knows his history and is enthousiastic in sharing his knowledge about this topic, which made the tour even more impressive. Although Dachau is free (with even audio guides) I would definitely recommend a tourguide and specifically Mark! Because of the corona, a few locations are closed for groups and he had to improvise (normally he walks you through the museum with information), but I was impressed with all the information he had to tell us. I’m very familiar with the history of World War II, but he told us about a few things I haven’t heard before. Would recommend!!

The journey on the train was very pleasant, the tour was very good and the guide Steve was excellent. I would definitely recommend going to the camp with a guide as you learn a lot more about why people were put in the camp and what happened to them. It rained most of the time we were there and most of the tour is spent outside but in some ways this added to the experience. I would definitely recommend going to the camp with this company.

The guide was eager to finish. Always rushing and trying yo skip other groups to finish first. It's not 5 hours as stated, it was reduced. She made certain statements out of place i.e. religion. Entrance to Dachau is free, so I recommend it with audio guide.

Hey Victoria, we appreciate your honest review on our tour. The total tour duration is 5 hours, whilst the tour of the memorial site is 3 hours. This is also mentioned on the tour ticket, I am sorry if this was not well enough communicated. If you are back to Munich, please let me know and we will ensure you to receive a complimentary tour so we can show that this is not the usual standart of our quality. Thanks for your understanding.

Our guide was amazing. He had so much information and also personal stories of survivors that he knew which made this experience even more intense. It’s not an easy day trip due to the subject matter but he was able to relay the information while still making it a pleasant outing for the group.

Our guide Scott was fabulous. I learned so much from this tour! I would recommend this tour to anybody who wants to learn more about these terrible events. The only thing I would change is that we add only one hour of free time to visit the museum. I could have easily spent two hours and I that would still not be enough. Thanks again Scott and Radius Tours!

The Dachau tour was a very somber experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of insights into the historical events that led up to these types of camps. Although great sadness it provided an educational view into ensuring this type of thing does not happen (considering world events today ) - every again. The one thing I would say as an improvement however is because there were so many other tour groups there as well sometimes it was very difficult to hear our guide as he is very soft spoken. It would be helpful to have some kind of an audio device that allows you to hear what he is saying. But would highly recommend this tour.
