Overview
First time in Munich? Take in the best bits of the Bavarian capital on this 2-hour walking tour of Munich’s Old Town. Admire architectural wonders like the Old Town Hall, St Peter’s Church and the Munich Residenz; stroll through the lively Viktualienmarkt; and see the world-famous Hofbräuhaus beer hall. Accompanied by an expert guide, you’ll have ample opportunities to learn more about Munich’s history, cultural heritage and beer-brewing legacy, while walking between the central squares of Marienplatz and Odeonsplatz.
What to Expect
Meet your guide at Munich Central Station to begin your 2-hour tour of Old Town, Munich’s charming historical center that’s home to some the city’s most famous churches, monuments, beer halls and museums.
From Marienplatz, Munich’s central square since the 1100s, learn about the city’s long and eventful history as you stroll the medieval alleyways that wind through Old Town. Admire the architecture of the Old Town Hall, with its glockenspiel that re-enacts stories from the 16th century.
Take photos of Frauenkirche, Munich’s iconic red-roofed cathedral that was bombed during World War II, and see St Peter’s Church, the oldest church in Old Town.
Pass through the Viktualienmarkt food market and peer in the windows of Hofbräuhaus, Munich’s must-visit beer hall. Stop in front of the Munich Residenz, the former royal palace of Bavarian monarchs. Then pass through the large square of Odeonsplatz and see the Alter Hof, the former imperial residence of Louis IV, King of Germany and Holy Roman Emperor in the 1300s.
Your 2-hour Old Town walking tour ends back at Marienplatz. Your guide will be happy to give you tips and recommendations for great local shopping, events and restaurants to enjoy afterwards.

Great tour of Munich City centre with Marc

We were taken round Munich by Marc last week - a fount of witty stories and much enjoyed by all the group. His English - should i say Australian - is flawless, and he brought the City to life. Strongly recommended. Francis, Mary and John

Great tourist area with amazing old-world architecture, clock tower, and eateries

Despite a lot of semi-negative reviews of Old Town and the various walking tours offered, I loved this simple, cost-effective jaunt as a first-time visitor to Prague. Yes, the area is very tourist-oriented but it still has a lot of charm! This tour is usually...More
