Overview
A visit to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site is worth little unless you understand the history behind it. With this day trip from Munich, explore the site with a guide to learn about the camp during the days of the Third Reich, and hear how the location today is a place of remembrance for visitors from around the world. Round-trip transport from Munich with is included.
What to Expect
Head to Munich Central Train Station (Hauptbahnhof) to meet your guide and then travel together to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site.
One of the Third Reich’s first concentration camps, Dachau went on to become one of the most feared Nazi sites, imprisoning hundreds of thousands of so-called enemies of the state. Hear the history from your guide as you explore and learn how the site has been turned into the place of remembrance and contemplation that it is today.
Your tour takes in key Dachau sites, such as Appellplatz, which was known as Roll Call Square, and the SS training camp, and hear the history behind each from your guide. Before you leave the memorial site, learn the story of the camp’s liberation, and visit the Memorial to the Unknown Prisoner, inscribed with the words “Never Again.”
Travel back to Munich with your guide, finishing at Munich Central Train Station.

Excellent tour by Mark from Sandeman tours

He is a very well informed and organized tour guide. He replied to every single questions and was thoughtful on everyone on the tour. He warned us ahead of time of rooms that might be disturbing to some and explained every aspect of the tour.

Mark was an expert tour guide. It is obvious he has studied Dachau and researched the history and the individual stories of those imprisoned there. Mark brought the history to life with eyewitness accounts, trivia, and interactive Q&A. I will definitely do more Sandeman tours...More

Incredibly well done tour. Scott really put me there.

Amazing tour by my English speaking guide Scott. He was really able to describe what life at Dachau must have been like using multiple examples of the living conditions and treatment of the prisoners in a very respectful and thoughtful way. Thanks Scott.
