About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- victoria s0 contributionsPerfect way to start a visit in Berlin. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to provide a great overview of Berlin and the history of Berlin. It was the perfect way to begin our visit in Berlin. After this, we knew which places we wanted to come back and experience more in depth. I highly recommend starting off a trip to Berlin with this tour.Written 8 October 2024
- denise068120 contributionsGreat Festival of Lights! Our young and new tour guide was very knowledgeable! I learned a lot of interesting facts especially about the artists who mapped the pictures (and what it means to Czechs)Written 8 October 2024
- SanFranAdventurer0 contributionsWell Done Presentation of a Difficult SubjectWhile I am super familiar with the history of WWII and the Holocaust, this was my first in person visit to a concentration camp. Our guide, Rebecca, did an excellent job of presenting the gruesome history of Sachenhausen, without sugar coating. I really appreciated the size limit on our group, making for a more intimate and manageable tour. I highly recommend this tour.Written 8 October 2024

- smely8mely0 contributionsInformative introduction to BerlinInitial check- in was a little chaotic with 3 different English tours (separating 75 people to 25 each) + 1 German tour at the same time, but after we set out, our guide Martin was great. I had run the marathon the day before so it was also fun to learn about the sites that had been run past.Written 7 October 2024
- 986jeanlucm0 contributionsFun, Beautiful, HeartfeltIt is incredible how many genuinely interesting landmarks there are in Berlin, within walking distance of each other. It was a blast seeing so many of them, with the context to appreciate and enjoy them. Louissa regaled us with many entertaining and enlightening stories about Prussia, WW2, and East Germany. She even shared some of her family history with East Germany, and shared some interesting personal perspectives that go beyond the raw facts that you might have learned in school. I really appreciated that! If you don't remember what you learned in school, that's okay, because they assume little prior knowledge, and cover the basics.Written 7 October 2024
- matthewhR9544JM0 contributionsInformative and Educational Experience!!I cannot say enough about how informative this tour to Sachsenhausen was. Our guide for the day, Lewis made it such a rich and educational experience, one that I will never forget. Don’t hesitate to book this tour, learn the lessons of the past, and as our guide Lewis pointed out at the end, it must inform what to be vigilant to in the present. 🫶🏼Written 7 October 2024

I booked a 6 hour Discover Potsdam public tour 2 weeks prior to the tour date. At the meeting point we were advised that the tour had been shortened to 4 hours and this was the first shortened tour. No explanation or refund for the shortened time frame. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative with the sites I visited and happy to answer any questions. However, I felt like I had been left high and dry when we reached the Potsdam gates with no tour of Potsdam as there were several places that were included in the 6 hour tour that I was looking forward to seeing. If I had been advised with enough notice, I would have cancelled my booking and gone with another tour company that offered what they advertised. Deeply disappointed with the way the tour had been changed without any notification or refund for the shortened time frame. The company has now changed the website to offer a 4 hour tour for the same price. I had allocated a whole day to see Potsdam and was disappointed at the way it had ended. Time is valuable while on holidays to make the most out of your experience. The tour company needs to understand that this is not acceptable.

Dear Wendy,
thank you for your review.
We have changed our Potsdam Tour to a 4 hour Tour since May this year ( and changed the website in may as well!) The "old" Potsdam Tour was way more expensive as well.
If you are saying that on our website the Tour is "now" 4 hours for the same price that you have paid- it seems the platform where you have booked did not update the length of the tour. This is disappointing for you when buying the ticket of course and I am really sorry to hear! I would appreciate if you could let us know where you bought the Ticket so we can tell the platform to change this.

I don't think the tour guide was very passionate in or knowledgeable of the subject matter, so this tour didn't really feel worth our time or money. By the end more people were listening to my brother (who's really interested in history) give more in-depth background and context on things than the tour guide. I would give this a miss (or if you want to see Potsdam, go by yourself, as it's an easy metro ride from Berlin).

Started out amazingly well, but went down hill quickly.
After approximately 45 minutes, my husband and I were separated from the group and ended making our way to the castle by ourselves.
Tobi our guide had completed head counts on a couple of occasions, but apparently didn't as he left the main square in Potsdam. We had turned to take a photo of a site that he had pointed out, to turn back and not see him or the group anywhere. It was only a matter of 2 minutes. There were probably 200 people in the square, but we believe he should have done a headcount before he moved on.
It was very disappointing to have paid money for a tour that we ended up completing by ourselves.

Dear Customer,
sorry that this happend. As you said it was very busy that day in Potsdam and it is hard to track everyone and anytime.
Tobi is one of our most experienced guides giving Tours for many man years.
For situations like this our phone number is written on every ticket as well. A call and we could have direct you to the group easily especially when you said it has been only 2 min .
Once again, really sorry that you didn´t get the full experience and missed the second part of the tour that started amazing as you said.

Excellent time even though it was a hot day. Be sure to buy your Berlin ABC ticket at the station kiosk (there is a language button option on the bottom of the screen). Our guide provided lots of good stories and history. There isn’t really a good stop for food so be prepared to eat after or bring water and snacks.

Gregor from Insider Tours was a real;y excellent guide, very knowledgable about the sites, which one owl expect, but as a millennial with East Berlin roots, he was able to add a lot of color about recent history and current politics, which was of great interest. The only problem is that train delays and route closures make the 25-minute trip from Berlin to Potsdam into a two-hour train and multiple-bus ordeal. We would never have found our way without a guide, but wondered how much he could have known about these problems ahead of time. He was very apologetic for the hassle, and made up for it with great guiding.

Postdam was not on my original to do list in Berlin but a friend insisted I go, and off I went. While I could've done this excursion by myself, the tour was informative and it was a great intro to the eccentric life of Frederick II. My only "complaint" was that our guide was very soft spoken and at times it was a bit difficult to catch all the details under the windy weather, especially with names and years.
At the end of the tour, the guide recommended us to spend time exploring the palaces on our own (entry tickets are not included), and this is an absolute must-do.

This was a fabulous walking tour. Quincy gave a great history lesson into Potsdam - it's royal history, palaces, gardens, influences, old, new, rebuilt, and East German architecture, and relation to Berlin and how it set the stage for the horrors of the 20th century. Highly recommended for any Berlin itinerary. There is so much to see and do in Berlin, and so much history, but with Potsdam so close this is a great addition and a great walk to boot.

Our guide, Gregor, was quite well versed in the history of Potsdam and its builders. The various buildings are a bit meaningless without the narrative that our guide was able to give to us through photos, maps and his art history background. The groups was small and the train ride to and from was quick and easy. If you have an interest in the history of the Germany monarchy this is a worthwhile day.

Fantastic half day in Potsdam with our tour guide Jenny. Jenny was very knowledgeable and told us about the history of the monarchy and Potsdam. Highlights of the visit included Potsdam's Gardens, Brandenburg Gate (the original one), The Soviet Memorial, Dutch Quarter and the fabulous Sanssoucii Palace! The weather was great as well and it was a day of learning. The trains to and from Potsdam were reliable and easy to use. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely excellent tour! Xavier was our tour guide and his breadth of knowledge was extraordinary. He went in depth historically on several occasions, and really became animated when tour members asked questions; all of us enjoying, literally, an education. We would highly recommend this tour company and especially Xavier. Wonderful experience in every way.

Does this tour include entering Schloss Cecilienhof and Sanssouci Palace or just viewing from the outside?
Written 22 September 2019
Just viewing from outside. If you want to see the palaces, it's better to buy the tickets before. Some of our group wanted to buy tickets, but there were no tickets available.
Written 23 September 2019
when will we come back to the city centre? is that 1630 or later than that? what is the exact time that we can come back @Berlin?
Written 29 July 2019
Cannot recall the exact time we got back to the station at Potsdam to return to Berlin, however, you can always leave earlier should you need to do so, or indeed stay there longer. The trains are quite regular, obviously if staying later, check the last train. Speak to your guide. They are very helpful with clear options.

Hi Ryan. If I recall correctly, I did register for the tours I wanted in advance (I guess to make sure there is enough space for you.) I remember printing out a confirmation and showing it to the Tour Guide or assistant at the meeting location and they took a pic of it with their phone.
