Paul gave us a potted history lesson on the way - so much knowledge, delivered perfectly within the time and all questions answered. This really helped set the scene. The tour of the camp- not a minute was wasted - the tour was great, sensitively delivered & all questions answered. We were then looked after on the way home (an interesting guy) . - thomasbJ4136TO0 contributionsHighly recommended walking tour of Berlin's historyThis tour is a Must! Apologies to open with travellers cliche, but it is true. This tour excelled, we had the pleasure of being guided by Daniel. He was the perfect guide. Very knowledgeable, humble, a great communicator and importantly so able to engage with an audience of all ages. I'd also like to say, he placed and important emphasis on audience participation and made it a very inclusive environment. I don't want to list every aspect of the tour, so not to spoil it, however I can confirm it is a tour de force. I also appreciated how Daniel dealt so well with a very difficult and emotive chapter of history and importantly brought nuance and gave multiple contemporary examples as to why understanding this piece of history is pertinent, to paraphrase Mark Twain, "history doesn't repeat itself, but sometimes it rhymes". Finally, Daniel started by saying his tour was like having a two hour lesson, whilst walking outside. I must add, he was happy to staying longer to share his knowledge. If teachers/ lectures/ academics around the world adopted his charismatic, passionate and engaging approach to communicating knowledge, even the most tiresome of subjects would be the utmost of joys to sit through! Thanks for a stimulating and memorable day.Written 13 March 2024
- katewJ2443MS0 contributionsThird Reich & Cold War Walking TourWe loved this tour. We learnt so much through our guide Jim who is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his subject. The walking was easy and the time flew by. Thanks to Jim, we came away with a greater understanding of how Berlin was affected by the Third Reich and Cold War. Doing the tour on our first full day in Berlin meant we had time to revisit some of the places Jim showed us so that we could spend a little more time there. A great introduction to Berlin, highly recommended.Written 12 March 2024

Thomas was a well prepared guide with degrees and archaeology and military history. He guided us through the most important sites in the museums. He gave background information and insights into the things that we observed. He was entertaining as well as informative. I thought it might be difficult to locate him with all of the museums and other tourists but he was at the easy to find location described in the tour description. We very much enjoyed our tour with him.

The tour guide Jamie was the best. He shared with us many insightful historical findings, but also a lot of jokes, based on historical contexts. Also, with him you’ll find out the secret of the Gates of Babylon.

Thomas was an incredibly well informed guide and he had a wonderful sense of humour that brought a lot of history to life. We really enjoyed how well he not only managed the group in a large busy space but got us quick access to the Pergamon! We will definitely be back- thank you!

I was promised a day pass for the other museums. This was denied. I planned to visit more museums but I had to pay AND wait in line, all of which should have been it avoided with the promised day pass. I should get a 50% Refund. The guide tried but I was told that the pass was not available. This is outrageous. Half the promised package was NOT delivered. Yet I had to pay full price AND pay for the other museums (3 more tickets).

Dear Judithp..
Thank you for your review. You are quite correct, you should have gotten the museum island daypass ticket on the day, which would have given you access to all the other museums. This is due to the ticket desk personel not being familiar with our system after two years of no group tours being allowed in to the museums. They issued single museum tickets in error, and our guide was not able to explain our arrangement with the desk personel on the day.
We have now fixed this issue with the museums ticket desk so that all participants on the tour now get the museums island daypass ticket as promised. We apologise for your experience. Please do feel free to contact us directly about the refund due to you.
Kind regards,
Gerard

We had allocated one full day to visit the buildings on Museum Island knowing that within that time we could only scratch the surface of the great collections. Accordingly we decided to begin with the three hour “Insider Tour” to prioritise the highlights. We could not have chosen better, the guide Jaime was excellent, not only taking us through the various galleries with detailed accurate knowledge, but also answering all the questions posed by a lively group from his own expertise with humour and goodwill. The whisper system of individual audio equipment worked particularly well. Altogether a very good start to our day and highly recommended, especially as our tickets provided access to the Museums for the rest of that day.

We had an excellent tour guide who was very knowledgeable. Both museums were worth seeing. We saw how long the Pergamon museum was so we were glad we chose the tour. The Ishtar Gate is incredible and the guide did an excellent job describing the history of the gate, how it was packed for travel, and how you could tell what parts were original and what parts were reconstructed. Very impressive. We saw the Neus Museum next and the guide did a great job talking about the sarcophagi through the ages and how to decipher what the Egyptian statues. Queen Nefertiti's bust is stunning. Seeing it in person truly was an experience. I strongly recommend seeing both museums and you will see them more quickly and enjoy it more if you buy the tour.

Pre-booked ticket online for Museums Tour by Insider Tour the day before. Greeted by our tour guide by the name of John at our designated meeting point near the museums. A group of five visited the Pergamon & New Museums. John was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable & informative with a wonderful sense of humor. Love skipping long queues. I highly recommend this tour. Thank you John.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and managed to turn the whole experience into an exciting adventure! Instead of aimlesslessly wandering around 4 museums we were guided to the most interesting displays in these extremely well curated Museums. Thanks Mike for a lovely morning well spent. Well worth the money!

Does it includes the temporary exhibition: "Pergamon. Masterpieces of the Ancient Metropolis and 360° Panorama of Yadegar Asisi" ?

No, it did not. We did not go see the Panorama so I am unable to comment on that. It is in a separate building and you could decide to see it after the tour; however, it is a separate ticket. Visiting the other museums on Museum Island are included in your tour ticket so it is a good time to visit those (Bode, etc.).
