We bought the card for 5 days for two people, which was currently around 86 euros. It was worth it for us, the group day ticket would have been more expensive. We then based our activities on the Hamburg Card, but you have to remember that Hamburg certainly offers other great activities too. It bothered me a little that not every provider asked if you had a HC, sometimes you had to enter your details twice.

We bought a group card for 4 for 3 days and it was great value at around £43. A bug in the sustem meant we couldn't buy on line as it wouldn't accept a UK postcode but it was easyto purchase at the airport.
Note: You don't actually get a card - just a single piece of paper with a barcode on it.
It gave us free transport to and from the airport as well free transport in Central Hamburg. It works on a trust basis and we were never asked to show our 'card'. We used it all the time during our stay.
Another benefit is it gives you discount to attarctiuons although some will give you a better discount if you buy online .

I do not recommend for families and generally it is good only for people who do not like to calculate their expenses. We bought the Hamburg card as it promised to have discounts on many touristic attractions and free public transport. We bought a family card and paid 20 euro more compared to the group public transport card (HVV) for the same time. So, we expected to have at least 10 euro discount from the attractions. Finally, we realised that almost all the touristic spots offer family card which is much cheaper than the discount given by the Hamburg card. For example, the Reiner Abicht tickets for a river cruise cost 64 for 2 adults and 2 kids with the Hamburg card , and 60euro just the family ticket without any card. And if you buy the same ticket online, it is 50 euro for a family… The same with the other places we visited….,so you do not need the Hamburg card if you are with your family here, just look for the family offers and take the HVV family transport card!!!

Alright I guess. Only worth the money if you plan to travel on the subway at least three times a day. The offers for restaurants and shops are so modest that it's hardly worth taking out the card. For museums it is not unusual for the discount to be around a euro per person.
Quite different from city cards where museums are half off or free. I would gladly pay €5 per day more if the discounts were much better. Also; consider having Heide or Hansa Park in the offer.

WHEN YOU BUY THROUGH THIS VENUE...YOU MUST BE AWARE THAT YOU HAVE TO FIND YOUR WAY TO THE DESIGNATED TICKET AGENCY TO EXCHANGE YOUR VOUCHER FOR THE CARD. If you are not staying near the ticket agency, this proves to be a problem if you unfamiliar with the town and have limited visitation time. We never were able to get to the agency to exchange our voucher. Read the fine print. For us it was very frustrating. This is not the only thing we lost money on using this venue. We were disappointed.

Disappointed with this card. Most of the attractions in Hamburg are in walking distance, so if you are only staying for a day or so, you don’t get any value out of the card. Most of the discounts on the attractions we visited, averaged out at about €1.00 per attraction. We only caught the U Bahn for 1 section and so we were actually out of pocket €5.00 each, after one day with the Hamburg card.
I could see it saving you money if you were staying 5 or 6 days, but if you are only in Hamburg for a day or 2, I wouldn’t bother buying it.

Misleading to say this card provide inclusive access to local museums but found out this card only provides a discount of 1EURO. Waste of time and money. Stay away from this tourist trap.

The card lets you use public transport. We used the underground. It also allows a discount at some venues such as the museum. All tube times and routes are online. It was very easy to get around having bought the card!
