      Elena was fantastic.
We did 4 different tours and activities with Julia Travel. From Torremolinos, we went a the sale office and Elena was there to help us, she was very good on recommendations, she was able to book us private tour just for our group, she went out of expectation to make sure to offer us the best tour possible, with our limited time available. She told us about the different options. Some tours we decide to go with the less expensive, but we knew about all the pick up at the other hotels. Some tours we choose private to save time on our way there. Overall, we were very pleased with the company, specially with Elena.

Too much time on the bus
It took a really long time to pick everyone up from their hotels (not everyone was on time). Its a long time in the bus to and from Malaga. There was a lot of waiting around in Gibralta due to logistical issues. Our local guide in Gibralta fed the Monkeys and had them climb all over him after he told us not to feed or touch them.

      Train ride from hell
We have used city bud tours in many cities on our trips and found them very informative and worthwhile. This bud tour was the worst we have ever been on. The train itself is small and very tough and jerky, you are down low in the train and can not see sights at all. The narration was terrible. Either there is nothing to talk about Granada or they did a poor job. We listened to the song Blue Bayou for half the trip, absolutely awful. We had numerous stops where you just sat there for 3-5 minutes at a time listening to the song. I would highly recommend you stay off this train. It was , as we called it “ the train from hell”

      Worth going to see
I booked this trip on TripAdvisor. Very easy to do. Did have to call the tour operator to confirm my reservations which was a little odd as when I called the person answering had no idea what I was talking about. I hung up then got an email to confirm the trip. Called agai. As the meeting spot was not very clear. That peeps. Was helpful I. Getting me the right directions. Once we made it to the pick up spot. A very nice coach bus came the woman stood outside the bus. A couple of people went up to her but no one got on the bus. I finally had to go up and ask if she was with a tour company. She only gave my last name told me she has been waiting. I said well so haven’t I. Might help if you call the last name out as others were waiting. For their tour bus also. Annabelle the tour guide once settled in was very good. Spoke ma y many different languages which was impressive. Hold of down a little better job on explaining what was happening but in fairness she was doing the same message four times. Joaquin the bus driver was amazing. He took those narrow roads like a champ. Angel our small tour bus guide was funny amusing and knowledgeable. He kept a smile on our face all day. The rock st Michael’s and the monkeys were awesome. Well worth the trip. Enjoyed it immensely though

      Interesting Rock
The tour on Gibraltar was great with a dedicated English tour guide/mini bus driver who was informative and funny, and the caves were great to see. The bus from Malaga to Gibraltar took 3 hours as there were many stops to pick people up and the return trip took 2.5 hours. More time travelling than spent at Gibraltar which was surprising. Would also have been good having some commentary on the drive to and from Malaga though the staff member on these parts of the trip was translating info into 4 languages.

Poor coomunication but great trip nonetheless
The write up implied that this was a direct shopping trip. When I enquired regarding a hotel pick up prior to leaving Canada, I was told that it was not possible. Consequently I spent 22 Euros on a taxi to the start point only to see folks picked up at my resort and almost 3 hours of pick ups at numerous other hotels. In addition, there were about 4 different tour groups on this packed bus which broke off to smaller buses once we all arrived in Gibraltar. I was dropped off at my hotel on my return but it made for a very early start as I left my hotel at 6 AM instead of pick up at 0740.

      Nice day out
Frigiliana is small village in the mountains. Narrow old roads, small shops and restaurants, you can spend 2-3 hours there. Plenty of peaking around the streets

Rattle trap tour of the city center.
This bus runs a loop around the city center. We used it to get an overview of the city on a rainy afternoon. It served this purpose. However, it was a rattle trap, with poor narration, leaky doors/windows, and a not very friendly driver. It was a rough ride over the stone pavers, so it would be torture to anyone with a bad back. That being said- we would probably do it again if we have a rainy day and didn’t want to stay in the hotel room. There is so much room for improvement, though.

      Tour worth visiting
Great tour, it was a bit crowded, both the bus picking up the passengers from Costa del sol, as well as the mini bus for the rock tour. But we saw all the tourist attractions (Europa point, St. Michael’s cave and the apes den). With the tour bus you pass both borders much faster and hassle free. Well worth visiting

      Alhambra is a must see
As someone who lives in Malaga my whole life, I must admit that Granada is by far better city to live in so I reccomend this tour for everyone. Granada is full off young people.

      Whistle stop Alhambra tour!
This is an amazing place to visit and so glad we did. The guide at the Alhambra was very informative and engaging. However the time at the palace felt rushed and you need much more than 2 and half hours to do it justice. I would have preferred less than 4hrs in Granada and more time at the actual attraction.

      Leave car before border
Dont take the car, queues are long. Park on Avenida Ejercito. Theres about 4 car parks on that road, came to about 14 euris for 6 hours. Border is about 10 mins. Can get a bus from border into town or up to cable car. If youve booked cable car , shuttle comes in opposite road to eroski. We got cable car to top then did sites on way down. Town centre is then 10 mins away and border from town about 5 mins. Great day

It was a beautiful, short drive up the coast to Nerja. We enjoyed a brief visit in the Town Center before visiting the caves. My husband and I were both beyond impressed with how grand the caves were - just awesome! Another short drive took us to the charming, small mountain village of Frigiliana. We aren’t much for shopping, so headed up to a gorgeous view of the town and the Med and enjoyed a bite to eat and a couple of beers. The day was absolutely fantastic. I regret missing the name of our guide - he was fantastic! We’ve taken at least 10 tours from Malaga with Julia over the past 3 years (2 separate visits) and they have always been punctual and the guides gracious and professional.

After reading the negative comments, decided to take the tour anyway.
The bus picked us up and we continued to go from hotel to hotel to pick up others.
Finally arrived at the cave, wonderful, that is is where it ends.....
The driver told us the bus would leave at a certain time and to be sure you were on time.
I guess we miss understood and arrived 15 minutes later. The bus had left and we
were stranded. did not help that my phone decided not to get a signal and we were unable to call the tour company.
Finally waived down a Taxi to take all the way back to the hotel. I called the tour company
they seemed to care less. Learned our lesson the hard way

Dear Christa123, Thank you for posting your feedback on our Nerja & Frigiliana tour. I appreciate that you enjoyed the visit on both sites as they are some of the most beautiful cities in the area. Unfortunately, once everyone has been informed of the departure time we simply cannot wait for people who are running late, as it would be disrespectful to those who have arrived on time. I would also like to point that it is stated in all our official selling points that our tours starting from Costa del Sol may present several stops along the way to pick passengers up so that all our customers can make an informed decision before completing their purchase. Kind regards, Edgar W.

    Don’t. just don’t.
    *TOURIST TRAP*ATTRAPE TOURISTE*

Do it alone by yourself, if you don’t you’ll regret not listening to me!

    The day started.
We were the lucky ones, the last one to be picked up by the bus, but then people in the bus told us they have been in it for 2 hours!

That’s where we met our guide, Paco. The only things he talked about for 30 minutes were how many kilometers malaga was from nerja, nerja from the caves, etc. No information on the town or history at all. He kept on talking about the names of the highways the bus would be on! So INTERESTING!

In nerja, the place where we wanted to spend the most time, we only had 1 hour (which is a BEAUTIFUL city, a must go, by yourselves!) which is clearly not enough.

After we went to the caves, which were nice. Bur the problem is: they gave us 1 HOUR to eat at the caves, with only one restaurant and NOTHING AT ALL TO DO! What a TOURIST TRAP to force us to eat there and spend money there!

Tell me Julia, why not just go to the caves first, and then spend a lovely 2 hours in nerja where we could choose of our free will and according to our taste a good restaurant with a view on the sea? Please, tell me it’s not because you make money everytime we eat at the restaurent at the caves !?!?

After we arrived at Frigiliana where we again had only 1 hour to visit, but our guide Paco (the nicest man ever... NOT he was mean to everyone in the bus) recommended a 30 minutes train around the city for 3euros. If the guide recommended it, it must be nice right?

WRONG! we saw NOTHING. Only streets full of cars and no view of the city at all. After that, we only had 30 minutes to try to catch up on seeing this beautiful town.

And then, finished. Yep you read me. Finished. 1h nerja, 30 minutes caves, 1h frigiliana. For a 7 hour (and more if you were not the lucky ones) long tour.

    SO PLEASE
    Don’t book with them!
    You’ll regret it.

Good afternoon Marie-Christine G, I would like to thank you for taking the time to comment on our Nerja and Frigiliana tour. I am sad to hear that it did not live up to your expectations, however I would like to point out that it is clearly stated in our vouchers and official website that the tour includes multiple pickup points so that all our customers can make an informed decision before purchasing the tour. Regarding your commentaries on the operative the tour, it is organized as such so that our customers can make the most of it. Nonetheless I will revise with the person responsible if some changes are necessary. Kind regards, Edgar W.

We reserved this excursion through another tour operator as we wanted to visit the Nerja caves - this was one of the highlights of our trip for our 13 year old daughter. The excursion was confirmed and included entrance tickets to the caves. And then the surprise came....

The only positives : the bus arrived on time at the pick-up location in Malaga and was comfortable.
Now the negatives... We arrived in Nerja and were given two hours of free time before we were to rejoin the bus to go to the caves. Our guide, JANET, accompanied us to the main plaza and left us there; no city tour, no explanation of the history of the village, nothing. Upon rejoining the bus, we learned that we did not have tickets to enter the caves. JANET, our so-called guide, refused to look at the confirmation document we had given to her upon boarding the bus in Malaga and refused to contact the other tour operator to check if there was an error. I called the other tour operator to check with them and they confirmed we had reserved the excursion with tickets to the caves. JANET, our guide, refused to speak to the other tour operator and refused to find a solution for us (we were a group of 6). Meanwhile, the other tour operator was researching what had happened and was frenetically working on a solution for us. We decided to go up to the caves regardless in hopes of being able to buy tickets on site. This was not a possibility as the tickets were sold out at the time we wanted. The other tour operator eventually found us a solution, in cooperation with the staff at the caves, and we were able to get tickets. BUT THEN, JANET did not want us to join the group for the tour because she didn't get her "commission"!!! Unbelievable!!! To make a long story short, we eventually joined the group for the tour (again she was useless as a guide and rushed the group through the caves). After the caves, we were taken to Frigiliana where again we were dropped off on our own - no city tour, no explanation, JANET just told us to take the tourist train around the village. Cute white village but the tourist train is useless and no point in stopping here.

My conclusion - avoid Julia Travel like the plague as they take your money, provide no service, the guide is completely useless as well as rude and then doesn't hesitate to ask you for a tip at the end of the tour!!!

We went as part of a tour and it is worth a visit. Obviously there are a lot of steps so you need to be mobile. Take the audio tour or it will be a bit boring.
