Highlights
Discover Malaga’s tapas and wines from a local perspective on a walking tour
Skip the guesswork: learn how, where, and what the locals eat and drink
Visit a market and tapas bars; and sample your dishes with local wines
See Malaga’s sights on route and get insider tips to get more from your stay
What to expect
Meet your guide and small group at a central location in Malaga, and kick off the evening with a glass of wine at a traditional tavern; toast fellow travelers as you raise a glass of classic Spanish wine. Learn how locals shop and eat at an old fashioned ‘ultramarinos,’ a family-run market where you’ll taste hand-cut Iberian ham, one of Spain’s most iconic flavors. Continue through the charming, seaside city on a route that takes in some of Malaga’s emblematic gourmet destinations, and listen to historical, cultural and culinary tidbits as you walk. This is the perfect time to get insider tips for the rest of your stay in Malaga, so you can find the best local places to sample specialties like gazpachuelo malagueño, porra antequerana, espeto and fried, salted almonds. Duck into an atmospheric bar that specializes in cured meats, regional cheeses and vermouth, then finish your foodie tour in the heart of Malaga, close to great bars, restaurants and attractions.

Tapas and Wine taste
Sep 2021 • Couples
Learn more about the history of of the area, not to be told you only get one glass in each stop if you want any more you pay for it. Plus having been given a couple of plates of tapas to try at each stop one between two for over £60 a head was a joke.

Hi Phil, In Spain Food Sherpas we appreciate all the reviews since they help us a lot to improve. First of all, we are very sorry for not having met your expectations. However, since your evaluation is so brief, we would like to clarify some aspects: On our Wine and Tapas Tour, we serve much more than just "a couple of plates of tapas". First of all, we don't serve plates of tapas. Tapas are served individually and the plates you mean are called "ración" or "media ración" which are portions of food, much bigger than a tapa. In Spain is very common to order them to share the dishes in the centre of the table. But also, what really matters to us is the quality of the food and the authenticity of the places we visit, to which we also go with our friends or families. What you had on the tour was the following: A total of 5 wines: - Pedro Ximénez in the oldest tavern of Malaga - Local vermouth or "Manzanilla" at the second stop - Rueda White wine Gilda or Ribera del Duero Delecto at the third one. At the last stop: - Red wine Rioja López de Haro or White wine from a small scale winery from Malaga - Muscatel dessert wine from Malaga made out of handpicked grapes. As for the food: - White anchovies and olive skewer (the fish is a specialty from Malaga), served individually -Manchego cheese, worldwide famous Iberian ham; Iberian salami, and an exquisite extra virgin olive oil with bread, served individually. -"Media Ración" of Fried eggplants served with “miel de caña” from Frigiliana, the only factory in Europe that produces it in a traditional way and without additives, to share between both of you. -Rock cod marinated in lemon, garlic, and parsley to share between both of you. -Bun filled with iberian pork (the delicious cut called "press"), fried onions, and grilled tomato. -Spanish Omelette portions, served individually. -Chicharrones from Cadiz. A very typical Andalusian dish similar to bacon to be shared between both of you. You didn't like it and even if it was already ordered, the guide offered you something else but you didn't want it. On our tour, you spend more than 3.5 hours with an expert local guide, explaining everything there is to know about the food and drinks, the places you visited, background stories, historical facts, elaboration procedures, Malaga’s cultivating areas and products, family businesses, Spanish traditions, etc. In addition to learning about our culinary heritage and the history of the city, our clients also receive very useful tips on what to do or where to eat the rest of their stay. On another note, our price includes 21% of "Spanish Sales" and other customers who were on the same tour absolutely enjoyed it and we are very proud that in general, 99% of our customers think the same. So, we really consider that this review is not representative of what we offer, our hard work and constant effort! Greetings

Great introduction to the city
Javi our guide was brilliant. Informative, friendly, relaxed and got all of the group talking. All the places we went and the food and wine we sampled was good. All of it was local specialities too, he gave us lots of information on other places to try too as well as things to see and do whilst we are in the area. Would highly recommend. Value for money.

A fantastic night out in Malaga
Aug 2021
I had a wonderful eveining on the Wine and Tapas tour. Javi was a fantastic guide giving lots of information and tips about the food we would have and the best places to eat in town as we meandered through the streets of Malaga. As a solo traveller and my first time to take this kind of tour, it was a real treat to eat great authentic Spanish cuisine with great people. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

This tour was amazing. Javi was super cool and knowledgeable about Madrid and did his best to ensure everyone had a great time.

I had a special dietary requirement and he was able to accommodate without issue and I would recommend this tour for groups, couples, and solo travelers, we all had a great time!

The Tour and our guide Javi were great I only wished I had taken it earlier in my trip to Malaga. I attended solo and found Javi & my fellow foodies very welcoming & knowledgeable. As well as the great explanations of the food he also gave us tips for other restaurants and meals to try. All in all a great introduction to be wonderful city of Malaga. Highly recommended.
