A difficult visit, but worthwhile
May 2019
We booked and paid on Viator. Glad to get a slot as most English-speaking slots had been filled..A few days beforehand an email informed us of cancellation, no reason. This was difficult for us with all our other arrangement. We contacted the on-site tour operator and after a mornings flurry of phone calls, were given another date. Parking, we were told, was opposite the Welcome Centre in car park 1. This is on a very narrow and busy road out of town. Opposite is a drop with treetops visible. Turned out that we had to carry on to a distant roundabout and join the car park entrance. Starting at car park 4, this eventually returned us to carpark 1 at a lower level, up some stairs and across the busy road into the Welcome Centre. Phew! Our visit? The guide did everything in Spanish and English with dozens of other tours, some overtaking us and interfering with our headsets. A stunning monument to religious devotion, well worth the visit but far too busy. Shame
