About
Through the tour in Can Det you will see a clear example of the declaration of the Serra de Tramuntana as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The so-called Outstanding Universal Value coincides with the activity of Can Det both in the way of cultivating the ancient olive trees on the terraces of the mountains of the valley of Sóller and in the irrigation systems of its orange plantations. It is a sample of the human adaptation to the territory for centuries forming the current cultural landscape. Tasting the oil from olive trees more than 1000 years old is a unique experience.

- B2615CVpauln0 contributionsGreat experience and lovely hostFor a short getaway stay in Soller with my daughter, I booked a tour with Tomeu to explore the art of olive oil making. Easy and prompt communication by email made it a pleasure. The visit itself was an amazing experience, especially getting to see the family home and the orchard as well. I can definitely recommend this tour to everyone.Written 20 May 2024
- Jo B0 contributionsVery disappointed to have tour cancelled at short notice.I would love to give a review but having booked a tour and confirmed it well in advance the owners got a better offer from a larger party and told us the day before our visit that they could no longer do our tour. I was extremely disappointed as I had planned to go for the tour as part of a full day of activities for our daughter’s 21st birthday and this cancellation threw out our plans.Written 24 April 2024
- suzannahar0 contributionsTraditionally fabulousWhat an absolute gem this was! We love to learn things about each place we travel and this was a great place to learn more about more traditional ways of making oil. We had luckily timed it right for us to see the start of the production of olive oil making and what a fascinating process it is! Thank you for a wonderful experienceWritten 24 October 2023

- Abe F0 contributionsAmazing olive oilI would recommend this trip. It’s a great experience. Very professional tour. Got to see all of the olive oil, traditional equipment, and how it is used today in production. The olive oil is not for sale on the market as it’s only available to the local public.Written 21 September 2023
- Cynthia B0 contributionsA great place to visit! Very much worth a visit! What a terrific time we had at this production facility! The owner, Tomeu, was super accommodating and was very informative not only about his business but also about the region. We enjoyed the abundance of food, wine, and olive oil that was offered. I could have easily spent more time learning more about their operation. In such a fast-paced world, it's beautiful to see a family so invested in preserving their traditions. Very much worth a visit if you're in Soller.Written 19 September 2023

The lunch was simply delicious- everything felt so authentic about the experience- thank you so much Tomeu! Ps. I would def recommend this tour, I went with some friends on holiday and it was part of a great day out.
Fantastic and memorable experience, a typical Majorcan house in beautiful village.
The tour was so interesting and the tasting was out of this world... The orange marmalade is mouth watering and well worth trying and the Olive oil is really smooth...
I just loved every moment of it, it felt like you actually were going back in time learning about the family and history.

Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Made us feel very welcome. The tour was very interesting and our host was very informative. The tasting session was nice and included some local wine which was very nice. Would have been even better if the olives were in season but you can't change nature

We booked the guided tour and we’re not disappointed. The house is beautiful and atmospheric, as befits a 400 year old residence and mill. We were shown around by Anne and the owner and given fascinating facts about this traditional craft business that could so easily die out soon. We were then invited to the family table for food, orange juice wine and a couple of shots of something stronger! Met some lovely people from USA as well, and we shared our experiences of Mallorca and travel in general over the dinner table. A brilliant way to send a couple of hours - thank you so much!

We visited the family's olive oil production site which also happens to be where many of them have lived and grown up. The tour was very informative and our host was very friendly! At the end we got to taste their olive oil and snack on various local specialties. I can highly recommend this tour if you are interested in getting to know a traditional way of producing olive oil.

Lovely welcome at Can Det and an interesting talk about the family history and background to this tradition of pressing the local black olives to make their renown olive oil. Can Det is located walking distance from Soller town centre and the guided visit of the small factory was followed by a shared luncheon of local produce in the old family home, quite delicious. Very happy to recommend this tour.

My wife and I had a lovely experience of touring this Olive oil factory including an incredibly informative video of how this family makes its olive oil and a tour of the factory itself. Unfortunately we came at the wrong time of year to see the factory in action (this takes place November to around January-February) but it was still really interesting to see and understand how all the steps of the process work. Everything is in a 400 year old property which is beautiful and best of all you get to sample the oil and a collection of tasty snacks made either by the Can Det family or other nearby properties. We had a wonderful time and I would recommend for the price.
We also bought some 100ml olive oil that we can fit in our hand luggage :). Lovely!

The tour with Tomeu was the highlight of our vacation. Can Det is a hidden gem in Soller. Tomeu was the best host and spent all the time we wanted explaining his family and business history. This is a must do if you're going to Soller.

An informative and tasty tour. A great insight into olive oil production in (what used to be) the remote Tramuntana region of Mallorca. A really friendly guide (the owner) takes you through the process and then invites you to the family table for a spot of lunch with local cheese, meats, bread and of course the tasty olive oil. Washed down with freshly squeezed Mallorca orange juice and possibly a glass of wine. A lovely escape from the busy centre of Sóller.

This was an incredible experience! If you’re in Soller or the surrounding area you have to take this tour. You get an amazing history of their family farm, their olive trees are over 1000 years old and get to see the process behind how the olive oil is made. You also see their beautiful orange trees and views of the entire valley. You finish off with a tasting and Tomeudet who runs the tour is such a sweet man!

Having lived nearby and known of Can Det for many years it was wonderful to be able to visit and hear of the history of this 400 year old, authentic family business, still operating today. In our technological, fast paced, flashy world, it’s refreshing to visit a place where the old fashioned ways are still valued and productive. One to recommend in Sóller!
