Beautiful fish but lacked personal touch.
Slightly disappointing overall. There was little warmth or friendliness from most of the staff from the pick up driver to the diving instructor. The instructions were rushed and not enough time was spent getting used to breathing under the water. This part was quite stressful. The clarity of water was good and lots of beautiful fish. However having a camera shoved in your face constantly quickly became annoying - the photos cost E20 extra; some great - most not. Tufia is beautiful, apart from the carpark - no toilets! Really poor communication as to what was going on after the dive as another group was waiting, so left to own devices for over an hour without any initial explanation as to what was happening or when the return journey was expected. Initially not a problem as beautiful setting but annoying not having this explained. The 4 hour "diving experience" includes a lot of waiting around.

      Divemaster Internship - Instructor!
Did my divemaster internship here then ended up taking an IDC/IE to complete my instructors- best decision ever, was helped all the way through the IDC by great instructors and an amazing course director! Kate was really flexible as I was able to stay 3 months instead of the 5 weeks planned! The accommodation provided is in a nice area with only a short walk to shops, bars and beaches. Saw a turtle, many angles sharks , stingrays and butterfly rays on my dives! It’s hard work sometimes but that’s to be expected in diving- you learn a lot and gain so much confidence in diving and yourself. Overall a really great experience and was really sad to leave as met some amazing people here and made friends for life :)

      Great divecentre!
For anyone wondering is this place is worth the visit, it sure is! I went there in September, starting my journey to be instructor! I started off with my dive master internship en straight onto my idc! I had no clue what to expect, but it sure paid off! I had the best time during my courses, made friends for life and enjoyed every moment of it! At the beginning of November, I finished my IE and became an instructor. Kate and Chris were so kind to let me hang on for a bit and gain some experience teaching. I had the pleasure of giving my first courses in a place I knew well. I left in December to start my new journey as an instructor in Bonaire. So the internship was absolutely worth it. And even now Kate and Chris still check in once in a while to wish me luck and see what im doing! So i’m very thankful for what this place did for me!

The Best Month of my Life x
My experience as an divemaster intern, was honestly the best month of my life! I’ve made life long friends as well as incredible diving contacts, I learned so much and became the diver I am today because of Kate and Chris! Which has helped my work/dive in amazing places around the world. Hands down the best diving experience in Gran Carina! I love this shop and the owners/staff are absolutely brilliant, professional, knowledgeable, happy friendly faces, and great divers! If I could re-live my experience I would jump at the opportunity!! Their teaching/tours, guides/ courses and everything they have to offer is outstanding and I can’t wait to bring my family back to Gran Carina with me next time, so they can experience what Blue Water Diving has to offer too!! ❤️🥰 If you have the chance check this place out!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🤍🤍

      Dive Master Internship
I visited Blue Water Diving for a Dive Master internship and it was the most amazing experience in my life. I have learnt so much and really became a better diver. The owners Chris and Kate are the most amazing and sweet people you can meet and the instructors there Eileen and Gilles are extremly professional and will help you with anything you might need. It was everything I dreamt of and even more. I will for sure be back there for more dives and I recommend this dive center to anyone who would like to dive in a professional and friendly atmosphere.

      Great experience
This was my second dive with these guys. We went by van to the dive site at the North of the island and geared up. My girlfriend went snorkeling along side the dive group. Eileen (probably the wrong spelling sorry!) was our dive master and overall instructor. She is a very talented diver, looks so comfortable in the water. We went into the water and everyone was assigned an experienced diver to shadow them. I can't for the life of me remember the man with me, tall and British! A real laid back guy, good craic. So we went down and I had an absolute nightmare with my mask not sealing and flooding constantly. It was quite stressing but my companion was very good and we resurfaced a few times to try fix it. Eileen noticed all of this and also got involved to fix the issue. Unfortunately it didn't rectify but Rosie saved the day. She was snorkeling with my girlfriend. She so very kindly swapped masks with me. It fixed it straight away and I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the dive. Felt very safe and in a controlled environment at all times. My air gauge was checked constantly and I was checked on all the time. Eileen, Rosie and my companion I want to thank you all so much and I wish you all the best in the future. Oh and Giles for getting us there and back safely. Highly highly recommend.

Divemaster Internship was not as expected
Where to begin... this review only pertains to the Divemaster Internship. 1. Lack of clear communication: From the get-go, I felt like there was no clear communication. In email correspondences, I had to be the one to ask questions while receiving vague responses - information had to be requested. I also struggled with the lack of communication from one of the instructors. There were many dives in which no dive plan was discussed, or was discussed extremely haphazardly at the dive site while the other dive group is getting geared up. There were several times in which I didn't know who my buddy was, let alone which dive group I was going with. This is absolutely not okay. I always felt very stressed when going in the water. There were also SO MANY THINGS that were not explained at all and I was expected to know, which I got yelled and reprimanded for. There were 'beer fines' where marks were given if anybody did anything wrong. This created a very tense atmosphere for me - absolutely no praises, but only telling me what I did wrong. There was no clear training for things like the steps to deal with clients - all had to learn on the go. 2. Accommodation: I had a pit in my stomach the moment I stepped foot into the accommodation. I was told shared accommodation with a kitchen - what they failed to mention was how they have you sleeping in a 6-person room with barely enough space to lay your suitcase down. The space the interns live in is in Kate's garage. Towards the second half of my internship, there were over 10 people sharing one bathroom along with a kitchen with only 2 burners and very limited kitchenware. There is a cleaning lady that comes once every 2 weeks, but with that many people, the bathroom was always a sopping mess. Not to mention tons of dead cockroaches on the floor every morning, and live ones almost every day. There were 2 tiny fans provided in the room, no AC or at least a real fan. Also found it weird to sleep in the same room as one of the instructors (who apparently also sleeps with interns)??? I ended up buying my own toilet paper, paper towels, dish towels etc. which is fine, but should've been mentioned beforehand. Had Kate given a more in-depth explanation of the accommodations, I might have had a chance to consider my options or at least mentally prepare myself. There were many times where I wish I could've afforded to stay at the hotel down the road. 3. Lack of orientation/organization: There was absolutely no onboarding process. Right on day one you were in the water. I expected a break-down of when trainings were happening and when my time would be dedicated for the clients. The only discussion to be had was payment right off the bat. I felt trapped. Also, very little information was shared with the interns. Why is there no shared spreadsheet/whiteboard with a weekly schedule or at least daily schedule so everyone knows what is going on? Why is none of the gear labelled? Every single day interns had to deal with leaky gear. We only knew what we were doing right before it was happening, not even for the entire day. Same goes for the accommodation. Seemed like every new intern had to figure out things for themselves - there was no system to strip old sheets etc.. The current interns would hog all the cupboard and drawer spaces - no system to make space for new interns. Also when I first arrived, I wasn't taken to the grocery store until a full 30 hours later - barely survived on granola bars for 4 meals. 4. Lack of consideration/unprofessionalism + safety concerns: It was very ironic how we were reading PADI material stating safety was of the utmost importance while also being told to dive when we were sick. There was a particular day where I could not equalize but was told to go dive because there were a lot of clients and they needed my help - I did not feel like I could stand my ground. My concerns were dismissed and I felt like I had no choice in the matter. Every boat dive felt like we were in the military. We were expected to gear up ASAP and get in the water and would be yelled at to hurry up. This caused SO MUCH unnecessary stress without enough time to do proper buddy checks. I would always have a pit in my stomach on the boat, mentally going through all the steps to do everything as fast as possible. Is this the conducive learning environment you want to create? 5. Clients were always above interns: The shop is always full of clients, so I always felt like our trainings were the bottom priority. Only when there was time and only when there weren't any clients, we would receive training. If a client came last minute and there wasn't enough gear, one of the interns had to stay back. If the client's gear was leaky, it would be switched out with an intern's. Also, interns had to be snorkel guides. I led snorkeling at least 5-6 times. I paid to be here and yet here I am leading snorkeling for other clients while not getting paid to do it. Felt like a massive waste of time. Clearly unpaid labor. As interns, we were ALWAYS filling tanks - could not even enjoy a 15 minute lunch break because we had to run to fill up tanks. We had to prepare all the clients' gear and wash gear and set up/take down the shop - which I'm fine with helping out with but not doing everything. We were running the entire shop while instructors and owners sat at the desk. Besides 2 instructors and Kate and Chris, there are no other full time staff. They rely on interns to do everything. Ironic how it felt like an unpaid internship yet I paid to be there. Also, Chris and one of the instructors regularly made sexist comments that were hard to ignore. One of the instructors was actively pursuing and sleeping with another intern. It's hard for me to imagine that Kate isn't aware of this behavior. Felt very predatory and unsafe. 6. Training: Honestly, the training felt mediocre. There were so many skills I should've practiced with them beforehand, but never got a chance to. Felt more like independent learning from videos and from other interns. Some trainings were not clear at all and I definitely do not feel very prepared as a Divemaster. 7. Unrelated to dive shop - but the visibility is absolutely abysmal. I could not get over how terrible the visibility was. I am usually quite flexible and understanding, but this experience was extremely uncomfortable. I felt like blindsided and unvalued. I guess I had never been in a situation where nobody cared or looked out for me before. Absolutely would not recommend unless you are okay with everything I've stated.

      Amazing experience!
Together with my partner Rene we had a great time experiencing diving for the first time! After booking Discovery diving, Kate reached us by WA and send us links and instructions what to do before. We did some theory before course that was interesting and easy. We met next day on the Anadores beach (meeting point) with the team instructor Eileen and students for master exam Corrine, Preston, Verina and Michelle. From the first moment team was so friendly. Diving under guidelines of Eileen was experience we will never forget! They are all you could wish for, patient, calm, knowledgeable and professional! Kudos to all from Rene and Jelena! :)

This is definitely not for beginners!!!
Terrible! The man running the scuba diving was very rude, angry, bad mannered, ignorant and wasted a lot of my money as I didn’t even get to dive! Other people in the group also said how angry he was and that he’d just forgotten about them! And left them to guess as to what to do!

      Last minute booking, great choice!
A last-minute decision to bus it into Puerto Rico, from Vacendario with no real plan, when we came across Blue Water Diving. We were made to feel really welcome by the staff, (even the grumpy Northener owner was a pussycat really😅 ) All the equipment was provided and of a high standard. The short boat trip to the reef was great fun, and the hour-long snorkelling session was wonderful. I'd highly recommend calling in and taking a trip out.

I went to try the two day Scuba Course and I can only encourage anyone even thinking about diving, whether a trial scuba or a PADI open water or beyond....please go and see Chris, Kate and Lily!

I had a bit of a panic under water on day 2 and following some tough love from Chris managed to get my head and breathing sorted to continue on with the safety requirements for the two day course.

Unfortunately I wasn't there long enough to try another dive but I would not go past Blue Water Diving - very friendly, helpful and professional!
