The camels do NOT have a good life at Maspalomas Camel safari.
The camels have to carry way too much weight on their backs and their work load is too much.
They have to use a painful basket muzzle where the metal strings pierce their nostrils while causing infection and pain there. The leashes are short, so the camels can be held under control, but this means the camels can't stretch their drained bodies between the rides.
The camels are skinny and not doing well, they do not get enough food or nutrition to perform the heavy work. Please boycott this place so the camel safari has to close their doors during 2022 and the camels can move to a reservate!

The address provided did not take us to the location. We had to drive around for 15 minutes to get entrance. We only saw two signs for camels but couldn’t find the trail to get to the camels. We had to leave without finding the place.

Absolutely brilliant. My 8 year old son and my father went on and they loved it. The camels are all well loved and looked after. Well rested and all got treats. Take some change there drink machine. Little gift shop selling soft teddy's. Well worth the visit
It's abit of a long walk to get to it.

So we went straight at the site to buy the tickets and the salesman was very rude and not helpful at all. The camels do not well treated, they look tired and overworked, Although I understand the need of the wire in their mouths it feels like we are mistreating the poor animal, needless to say that I will never do such ride again, in the desert they do not look like this and even that we are riding them they look much more comfortable.
The ride itself has nothing interesting to see, you do not go to the dunes, you wonder around for 40 min and see nothing.

Thanks for your review, it´s always helpful to improve our experience. We are sorry to hear that you did not like our experience. We just want to point out that our animals are very well treated, fed and cared for, they are born with us and the whole team looks after them with great affection. Best regards

When we arrived, we were a little disappointed at the reception area, no-one at the desk, and lots of people milling around. Eventually a guy arrived and told us it would be an hour wait. He wrote out a ticket, passed it to us and walked off with no welcome, than you, where to wait etc.
Luckily there is a circular covered area so we could escape the heat fit a while. There were vending machines with cold drinks and ice cream, and a concrete bench surrounding the area. No instructions re what happens at all, a small booth selling soft toy camels and small toilets. We walked out to the area where the camels were resting and were able to photograph and stroke them. When it came to the ride, the handlers were very good, and our seats (either side of the camels) were balanced. When the camels stood, we were finally up and riding (forgot to mention a member if staff calls out your number when its your turn to go the the camels). A slow 30 minute trek in a loop around the dunes was enjoyable, and the camels seemed to be treated well throughout. Good one-off experience overall, but a better and clearer welcome would have improved it. Decent value for money too.

We started out walking from our hotel but it soon became apparent that we were not going to find the camels without help from a local taxi so it was well worth the 5 Euro.
The camel rides were 12 Euro per person bur be warned they only take cash and the camels have a weight limit of 110Kilos!! (But are happy to take sand bags to balance out the chairs either side)
A short 30min ride through the dunes was quite enjoyable

Camel riding was such fun for our family of 7! The guys are a tad unorganized but the ride was fun along and around the sand dunes, take a camera and a bottle of water as it is so hot! They also have a nice waiting area for those of you that dont like to ride the camels. You can purchase a photo that 1 of the guys takes, like all attractions they try to gain as much income as possible. I would recommend for a mornings entertainment!

When we looked into booking a camel tour, our main priority was to ensure it was ethical. As it was endorsed by TUI as was advertised as ethical we decided to book. The start of the tour was quite hard to find with only a few small hand painted signs leading to where the tour begins. When we got there, we were greeted with a number of tented areas and not a single staff member who spoke any English nor were there any sign posts inside the tents to tell us where to sit and what to do. The staff said something to us in Spanish and then walked away, which left us clueless and frustrated as we did not know where to sit and wait for the tour. We were eventually led outside to the camels and sat upon one. I don't claim to be a camel expert and do not know if they are naturally very vocal creatures, but some of the camels seemed to be making rather distressed noises, especially when standing and sitting. They had chicken mesh mouth cages which looked like the dug into the camel, they also had a metal seat onto of them, made for two people, which appeared heavy. The tour itself was the perfect length and we saw enough of the dunes to get a taste of Maspalomas Nature Reserve. After the tour, there was the offer to buy photographs which were taken during the tour for five euros each. We left feeling content with our experience of the dunes but concerned for the welfare of the camels.
