About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- laura_caitlin970 contributionsNot worth the moneySaw more plastic in the sea than animals - one or two whales, no dolphins, no turtles. We booked this boat over others as it is promoted as having a paddle board, on the boat however we were told the paddle board is broken. Why was this not told to us before paying 50 euros each for something worth much less? The boat stopped for us to get out for a swim.. girl being sick off the side right into the water where you get in. Then you have the useless snorkelling equipment which is so used you cannot even see from, so even if there was turtles, wouldn’t be able to see them through the snorkel. Sandwiches provided only had salad inside. Save your money!Written 9 May 2023
- Jon B0 contributionsOkay, but nothing like the brochureWe chartered the boat for 4 hours for a group of 10. The guy that sold us the ticket said we'd see dolphins and turtles for sure. We had a 1yo in the group and were told we could have his stroller on deck no problem. When we arrived on the dock the captain obviously had not been told we had an infant and the boat could not hold a stroller. We were unlucky with the weather and there was some choppy water. We had to go back and some of the people left the boat. After that we sailed along the coast and did some snorkeling and had the meal which was fine. We saw no turtles or dolphins, but the captain warned us before we left that it wasn't likely anyway because of the weather. Overall the boat was fine but it was oversold by the ticket seller and brochure. The captain was good.Written 3 January 2020
- Joshua960 contributionsNice and quietOnly 10 to a trip so nice and quiet. We was very lucky and had both dolphins and pilot whales come very close to the boat. Skipper was very pleasant and made every effort to make conversation with us and made sure we was good for drinks etc. Time was given for a jump into and swim in the ocean. Some reviews mentioned diesel smells making them sick, I experienced this though my partner didn't. I recommend.Written 19 December 2019
- Tonybyrn0 contributionsUnlucky and UnsafeWe were all looking forward to this trip. Weather was nice but the sea was a bit rough. In fact it was borderline for a pleasure trip with possibly 11 non sailors. The trip was advertised with hot meals and free drinks, with a wonderful cabin seating space if required. We were offered a small bread roll with cheese and ham, a couple of small cans is beer. There was a smell of Diesel fumes all inside the boat, so you could not take shelter inside the boat. People were being sick and feeling ill due to the fuel smell. Toilets where disgusting. No sign of any whales or dolphins as the sea state was to rough, the vessel owner should have cancelled the trip this day as it was not the safest thing to do. We arrived at a lagoon to swim and if you were not a strong swimmer you would have issues getting back into the boat, with a constant 1.5 to 2.0 meter swell. There was only one crew onboard, so if he was hurt or fell overboard who looked after the 11 non sailors??. Sorry but this was wrongfully sold to us based on what we were told and what the brochure states. Sadly it was very disappointing and felt like a rip off.Written 21 November 2019
- fletcherc1230 contributionsAmazing experience delivered by wonderful people!Would recommend to all. Everything was Excellent from the pick up to the drop off. Made us feel at home and due to being in smaller group, the experience was better for us as got a knowledgeable captain who was happy to answer questions and interact to give everyone the best experience possible. This along with the knowledge of the area led to some amazing spectacle in terms of how close we got to the whales and a great balance of sailing and swimming. Thank you to the staff behind the service as really was a great experience !Written 28 September 2019
- Cynth2030 contributionsWhat an amazing trip! This trip is amazing! Firstly it takes only 11 people and a mini bus collects you from your hotel. The boat is clean and comfortable and the captain is really well informed and shared his knowledge with his passengers. He was honest enough to say that we might not see dolphins as they move around a very large area. We did manage to see a pod of them swimming near a fish farm. His knowledge of the pilot whales was excellent and he knew exactly where to find them. Two of them swam right alongside the boat for some time. Finally he anchored in a little bay and handed round sandwiches and drinks. Before leaving everyone was able to swim or snorkel from the back of the boat. The cruise lasted about 3 hours and we were taken back to our hotel on return to the harbour.. a great way to spend the afternoon.Written 27 September 2019
- chloes8410 contributionsIncredible morningToday we took the 3 hour morning trip. We were made to feel welcome with plenty of drinks and a homemade sandwich. The boat is clean and very comfortable. We saw so many dolphins and whales. Amazing! The skipper was knowledgable and gave us many facts about each animal. Snorkelling was great fun. Incredible experience, would highly recommendWritten 25 September 2019
- jenny p0 contributionsSonador boat tripWe went whale watching on the Sonador yacht and had a great day. Juan the skipper was friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this boat as we have been on many of these trips and this was the best yet. Thank you JuanWritten 19 September 2019
- markswv0 contributionsBest sailing trip in TenerifeWe sailed on the sonador today for a 3 hour whale watching tour and had a fantastic time!! Juan made all of us,2adults and 2 children feel welcome from the moment we boarded. He was friendly and informative throughout our trip. It was a small group, 10 Of us and the boat had plenty of room for us all. We saw 8 pilot whales and Juan had lots of knowledge and was very respectful of their space but got us in for a good look too. We had great fun snorkelling and diving from the boat whilst Juan fed the fish around us so we had a great view. Overall a brilliant day and we’d recommend Juan and the sonador to anyone!Written 17 September 2019
- Rebecca B0 contributionsA lovely tripI would absolutley recommend this boat trip. We got to see the whales and snorkel with so many fish! Unfortunately we did not get to see the dolphins but at least they are swimming free! The skipper, Juan, was very welcoming and friendly, he was happy to answer any questions you had. We got a baguette and a few drinks on board. A lovely boat!Written 8 September 2019
- 371hafsteinnh0 contributionsGreat boattripWe went with them on 3 hour private tour, and it was great, saw the whales, went snorkling and enjoyed tenerife by sea, we got drinks and food onboard, highly recommendedWritten 20 August 2019
- ann j0 contributionsFantastic journeyWe were told not to expect to see the dolphins or whales because they are wild creatures and don't always come to play but we were in for a wonderful trip plenty of good and drink on offer and amazing views of dolphins and a pilot whale family so close you could almost touch them. Our guide took us to a place for the guests to down.anf have is local information. It was great.Written 18 August 2019
- davidfC9743DY0 contributionsWhale WatchingThis was the highlight of our holiday, we saw about 30 whales, Juan was extremely educated with the ways of the sea and a true lover of nature, he was concerned the big commercial boats were separating the adult whales from their young and made sure they were reunited, he took time to come to the sun deck and explain things to my teenagers, we had fresh baguettes and choice of drinks, went snorkelling and the best of all, there was only 9 of us on the boat as it only holds 11, unlike the overloaded looking big catamarans. Would definitely do this again.Written 13 August 2019
- Joel W0 contributionsWhale & Dolphin watching - best tripMy wife and I took our two teenage children and a friend on a whale and dolphin watching trip that included a snorkelling experience. Juan, our skipper, was clearly a very experienced and enthusiastic sailor with great local knowledge. Drinks and baguettes were included and the whole experience was very reasonably priced. Juan was very attentive to our children's needs. Overall, exceedingly good value for money and would definitely recommend.Written 12 August 2019
- Naidinep0 contributionsWhat an amazing experience! After reading the 5 negative reviews I have no idea why they are there this experience is amazing. We got back from this trip 2hrs ago and would love to go again! The boat is stunning and catered for the maximum of 10 people which is automatically a 5* because your not stuck on a 200 person catamaran. Excellent captain who had so much knowledge about the pod of pilot whales we saw and by saw they were 2m away from the boat! He genuinely had a love for the whales he spends his days with We saw turtles went swimming with fish and was offered plenty of drinks on board. Lunch was some baguettes which looked fab and I am assured by the rest of my family were yummy! The captain was brilliant with my 7 year old who felt a bit sea sick half way and gave her a load of advice and made her comfortable Shortly followed by my own sea legs giving up on me! As someone who gets sea sick quickly this trip was great the sea was calm the front of the boat you can really feel the waves but the back is much calmer unlike some people moaning about the choppyness of the oceanthe captain isn't in control of the sea so it wouldn't effect my review!!! We had the opportunity to get some amazing shots of the whales snorkel with fish and swim in the sea all in 3 hours Cant recommend this enoughWritten 11 August 2019

Not worth the €90 for 2 people. Firstly the organiser was late so we weren’t allowed on the boat for 10 mins, having already waited 20 mins outside. Of the 11 passengers over half were sick and it was quite a calm day so all inclusive food and drink wasn’t very appealing. There was no sign of the new model paddle boat when we stopped but I guess no one asked. I few people swam where we stopped as the skipper said they would feel better but 2 were still sick after. You need to leave your shoes at the harbour so buying scuba shoes was a waste of money. We did see a few small whales but the sickness spoiled it rather. There was a bit of a stampede to get to the foam cushions at the front of the boat when we boarded and only the first 4 people got to sit there.

The Tour was a great experience. El Capitan, Juan loves his Boat and the Nature in the Sea. He was a very good Tour Guide and told us a lot about the Whales an Fishes in the Atlantic Ocean.
There are some bad reviews for the Sonador in the Past. They are from the previous owner. Since Juan is the Captain the Reviews are very good.

Seeing the dolphins, turtles and whales was fab HOWEVER, no fault of their own the whole group was seasick! 3 hours is far too long. The captain was nice, the boat is very nice and as there is a small group it’s good. As I said, we all felt seasick and asked to go back earlier, two people were actually sick! The captain was very helpful in this situation. He’s probably used to it!

We paid €50 pp for the tour. The explanation and brochure that was provided states that your food is paella, tapas, pizza & fresh fruit. This was absolutely not the case, there were only some buttered sandwiches, so a big disappointment. It also says that a drone films everything, we did not see a drone. Upon arrival on the boat, a photo will be taken, which you can purchase afterwards………… Strange when it is stated that a video is being made of your unforgettable trip on the sailing boat. The diving equipment was very poor. 2 diving goggles available that were fine to use while we were with 10 people. We also did not see a paddle board to use (this was also stated in the brochure to be present)
The skipper was a very friendly man. But what it says you get for your money is absolutely wrong.

A highly recommended experience. We were very lucky and we were able to see a huge pilot whale swimming very close to us. Juan, the captain, is very attentive to the group and is very respectful of the environment and the animals. I will repeat if I return, without a doubt.

Most enjoyable trip on this excellent yacht. The skipper is very knowledgeable and we saw dolphins in the distance, and pilot whales right beside the boat. A wee turtle was also swimming along beside us at one point. Drinks and sandwiches were lovely. Sadly the swell was too much to let us go snorkelling, but hopefully we will manage that next time.

Not one of the large boat with 100 people on, only takes about 20 tops so the experience is very personal, we saw lots of dolphins and pilot whales in their natural habitat, went to a small beach for swimming / snorkelling.
Food was ok, baguettes, drink on offer was varied and available whenever, a couple of people complained about the food, not sure what they expected but were very complimentary about the boat, service from the captain and the trip overall in our minds was perfect.
