An unexpected treasure!
Nov 2019
Our last day in Barcelona was a Sunday and admission to Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau, a beautiful complex of Modernist buildings designed by Lluis Domenech I Montaner, was free. The complex, built between 1901 and 1930, served as a fully functioning hospital until June 2009, when it began to be restored for use as a museum and cultural center. The Metro delivered us to the modern Hospital de Sant Pau, and from there it was a rather long but fortunately downhill walk to the Modernist complex. The buildings were even more beautiful than we had anticipated and the displays of medical equipment and explanations of treatment practices were interesting. We were so happy to be able to visit this unexpected treasure.

One of the best in barcelona
Dec 2019 • Solo
I was blown away by this visit. Fascinating story, along with beautiful buildings and information about the past made it one of my favourite activities in Barcelona. Stunning layout and the tours seemed very good although I did self-guided due to time restraints. Information booklet was handy for this and there was lots of additional information at each point of interest. Well worth a visit, especially walking up from Sagrada Familia along the Avinguda Gaudí.

Beautiful Place
Spectacular modernist building very close to Sagrada Familia. It is a hidden gem and a must do in Barcelona. Inside you feel the silence and can enjoy the beautiful buildings. I really loved it.

Spectacular
Dec 2019
St Pau is trully spectacular and a must visit in Barcelona. The site seems to be very well looked after and the visit was very pleasant as it was not crowded at all.
It was way larger than I thought but it can be visited in about an hour.

Great Visit
Oct 2019
When my wife said we have to get off the Hop on Bus at this site, I said why? I didn’t realize what we were about to see. Sant Pau is a total complex of buildings, not just one building. This former hospital complex is beautiful. It was redone into a modern version of the former working hospital. You can easily spend a half a day viewing the various buildings and architecture. This is a hidden treasure in Barcelona that is usually not mentioned on most tours.

Huge modernist treasure
Jun 2019
A beautiful campus of a former hospital that has been preserved. Many modernist buildings, and you can go in most of them. There are also surreal tunnels that you can go in that connect the buildings. Designed by Catalonia's often overshadowed architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Spend an enjoyable hour or two here.

Great recommendation
Aug 2019 • Family
Our fabulous concierge suggested a visit here. What a tranquil gem in the bustling heat of Barcelona. An inspirational space for the care of the sick and now a beautiful monument to it. Both my daughter & I enjoyed the cool highly decorative buildings and gardens.
Highly recommend as a gem off the tourist path 😊
