This activity is an absolute must!
What a fantastic time we had. Manfred and Catherine put so much effort in to the trip. They are clearly passsionate about what they do. We did the Grape tour and got to see the amazing village of Porrera and tasted some beautiful wine we also learnt a lot about the wine and the local history. It's a lovely way to see the countryside no stress really easy going and it's all downhill. Would do it again even longer if we could.

Make sure you do this . Fun and cultural
This is very worthwhile doing. Manfred and Kathryn ensure that the day is very fun and that you get to experience the authentic Catalan way of life. Such respect shown to the local people. The cycling was fun as was downhill. Always felt safe. The olive oil experience was nice with the opportunity to buy true organic olive oil at a very reasonable price. We were lucky to squeeze in lunch at the local restaurant sampling local cuisine in the company of our Germans and Dutch friends along with our two fab hosts ..

          Bicycle Glide with wine tasting
Great experience riding downhill and through the vineyards. I have an arthritic knee, so it was perfect being able to glide downhill most of the time. Visit to local winery was really interesting, and sampling some good quality wine made it even better. Very well organised with a support vehicle always available if for some reason you can’t go on !

Beautiful views, smells, wine and people!
Amazing hosts in Manfred and Katrin with great attention to detail and safe bikes. They call themselves downhill and amazingly pretty much all the cycling was just that which I hadn’t expected! The mountain views and the village were gorgeous (just the smells alone!). The bodega owners were lovey and I enjoyed the tour, the wine was gorgeous but I was a bit disappointed we only got to try 2; and next time would book a more ambitious cycle tour but if I am back in the area would look out for these lovely people! Thankyou

          Fun , adventure amazing
Amazing day , Kathryn and Manfred Amazing , scenery amazing. Picked up right on time and from that point it was just amazing fun. Safety is 1st but after that , who needs Portaventura for adventure. Great views , empty roads with amazing bends and no hard work or queues. Knowledge of both makes for an even better adventure and buying the pictures at end of trip is a must .

          Highly recommend
Such a great experience, would highly recommend. I went along with my mam who was a little bit nervous to begin with as she had not been on a bike for quite some time but the staff were so reassuring and patient and she quickly gained confidence. The views were unbelievable and the tour guides were funny and so knowledgeable. We also loved the chance to explore the beautiful village at the end of the tour. Thank you for a great trip.

Fantastic trip - beautiful scenery & amazing wine! 🍇🍷
If you're looking for a way to enjoy the beautiful Spanish countryside and sample some fabulous wine then this is the trip for you! The cycling was relaxing and not strenuous. The guides are absolutely fantastic and made us feel very safe. Both Manfred & Katarin had a real passion for wine and an extensive knowledge of the area. Manfred shared a lot of history of the region as we travelled up the mountain which was just so interesting. If we come back to the area, we will 100% book again. Thanks so much for a great morning! Downhill Bikes Salou July 2023
We had a very enjoyable family(2adults & 3 teens) cycle with Downhill Bikes about a week ago. We got to see the beautiful Costa Dorada mountain scenery, from our bikes. Most of the trip is freewheeling downhill, so it wasn't that difficult to complete. It finished with a lovely Tour of the Olive Oil Museum and a group social chat/drink. Kathrin & Manfred (Downhill Bikes) were very friendly, kind and helpful throughout our trip. They made us feel at ease, throughout our cycle. I would highly recommend this Bike Trip to those who are visiting this region.

If you enjoy cycling and the outdoors then this is a must do. Manfred, Kathrin and the team are so friendly and welcoming. A very well organised trip with lots of downhil fun! A low effort way of seeing beautiful scenery on the way to tasting some outstanding wine
A thoroughly enjoyable journey to taste some exceptional wine, with knowledgeable and fun hosts. The downhill cycling part of the trip was split into two sections with a decent break between the two to refresh and get a drink, supplied by our hosts. We were a little worried about how hard going it may be or whether we’d be on gravel tracks or something like that. Our concerns were immediately quashed as we arrived at the starting point. A wide private road down the hill with long easy bends and amazing scenery. You can go as slow as you’re comfortable and there’s no pressure at all to go quickly. Quite the opposite actually. Before setting off, you get a chance to get used to the bike you’ll be riding and our hosts made sure everyone knew hot to operate the gears and brakes properly. I’d say the bikes had seen better days but only superficially. They were obviously very well maintained and all checked again before we set off. We were bussed back up to the start point to go down the other side of the hills with yet more stunning views. Eventually, near the bottom of the hill we finally had to actually pedal up a slight incline of no more than 50m. If you’re concerned you may not be up to mountain biking because of the terrain and effort (I was a little concerned), you shouldn’t be. It’s barely any effort and the day we went was really hot but it was still cool enough with the breeze as we cruised down hill on wide, open and empty roads. The second route was on normal public roads but think of a gentle winding country lane that hardly anybody drives down. Also, I’m writing this the day after our trip and my bum isn’t aching at all if you were concerned about that :-) The vineyard tour was really interesting and great to see the vines up close and seeing how they’re cared for. Our host really knows his stuff and there wasn’t really a need to ask questions as everything was explained in a really informative, yet engaging way and no sign of the pretentious wine poncing I was a little afraid of. We then moved indoors to the welcome coolness of the winery itself. It’s one of the top producers in the region, it’s all still a family business with everything been done in the traditional way. The “mother” of the winery was there, proudly looking on, and rightly so, as we learned how the wine was produced and as we got to sample some of their top wine. You can immediately tell why the wine is so well regarded, magnificent! Again, no pretentiousness. Just people passionate about wine and spilling over with infectious enthusiasm. Also, no pressure sales at all. Yes, you can buy the wine you taste and any of their other wines if you want (cash or card). Why not 5 stars/dots? Go to the loo before you leave and then go again. There’s a loo when you get to the winery but it’s just the outdoors before that. If I could score in bits of stars I’d go 4.8. If you like red wine, enjoy beautiful scenery and you fancy doing something a little different while you’re in Salou, definitely do this.

A fantastic trip, and strongly recommended lovers of cycling, the countryside, and fun
The entire trip from beginning to end was amazing, especially as we were looking to get away from the chaos and bustle of the city. Guides Katrin and Manfred were very friendly and punctual, and during our drive up to the mountain where we biked, they shared interesting information about the surroundings and Catalonian culture. Although we had just met, we were able to hold great conversations which made us feel right at home. The biking experience itself was great. I was concerned at first about the accessibility, however I was very reassured by the support available. A thorough safety presentation and set of rules (for your own well-being) was given before beginning the ride, ensuring that everyone is well informed. If at any point you were struggling, you were able to get picked up by the support van which was constantly, although not intrusively, following you. Water was provided at regular stops, and hazelnuts were provided as a snack halfway through, and although we did have to pay a couple euros, we all enjoyed them and found they gave a good energy boost. You do have to have a degree of fitness, and obviously know how to ride a bike, however as the name would suggest, the vast majority of the ride is downhill, so you can simply go any speed you feel comfortable while only having to drive the bike and take in the scenery, which was breathtaking. The mountains are fantastic, and the barely used roads and lush vegetation really give you the sense that you've escaped from the city. By the end of the ride, I really felt that I've travelled a long way. The trip ended in a small village, in which we were given a tour of a former olive oil factory turned museum, and given free samples of some of the best olive oil I've tasted. We were able to finish off with a stop at the local bar, and buy a wristband with some photos that we took as a group at the various stops. Would strongly recommend for anyone who loves the countryside, cycling, or both.

An absolute MUST if you are coming to Salou! What a beautiful morning we had. The tour guides are so so welcoming and friendly, we were made to feel very at home. The ride itself is absolutely stunning, can be done very easily even if you're not a cyclist (I hadn't been on a bike in 10 years!). The views are just phenomenal and it's such a great way to delve into the countryside. We also visited one of the villages in the mountain to do some olive oil tasting (wow, by the way, it is not like anything I've had before) and stopped at the pub to have a beer and get to know each other. Has to be one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done in my life. Highly HIGHLY recommend!!

It was a lovely tour that brought us some new aspect of Salou, rather than just the theme park and beaches. We were well looked after and prepared before the down hill cycling. My son also enjoyed very much especially he knew that he was cycling on the car racing track. Highly recommended.

Wow!!! What can I say? The bikes are in great condition, the safety briefing is extensive, the hotel pick-up is on time, the guides are fun and informative and last but best of all the downhill biking is the best fun I've had on holiday and easily the best tour i've ever done. I cannot recommend this enough and when i return to salou i'll be doing it again. The gold medals for the kids who took part was an especially nice and thoughtful touch.

Getting away from all of the pubs, hotels, and restaurants of Salou, whisked away in the mini-bus with 2 lovely hosts. Kathleen and Manfred really go out of their way to make you feel part of a group. And as a solo visitor, that was really nice.

We were taken to an area up in the mountainous region near Salou (I'm not sure of the geography, but was only 30 minutes or so once the bus was full).
Bit of a history lesson on the way about the people of the region, great and informative.

And then the ride... Not much I can say, the scenery is beautiful, and the effort required is minimal. Be cautious if you haven't ridden a bike in a while, some of the turns are hairpins which could be scary if you aren't experienced.

Dress a little bit warmer than you would at the coast - it gets quite fresh up there.
The day ended at a small village, where we all chatted around a nice bottle of "shampoo".
Highly recommended, thanks for a great day

Loved this! Did it before several years ago, and still loved it! Downhill freewheeling through fabulous mountain scenery, a tiny bit of flat cycling, then off again for more freewheeling to end up in a little village for coffee, before being dropped back to Salou.
A Minibus brings you up the hill to begin with, getting to hear lots about the region on the way from the lovely couple who run Downhill Bikes.Good safety briefing before setting off, and bikes/ helmets well matched with riders. The bus stayed with the tour, in case anyone felt the need to take a breather. Roads used have very little traffic, and while bendy, aren’t too hard to negotiate (for anyone who’s done it before, they have different routes now, which is great - no repetition). Water provided.
Result: Very satisfied adults and a teen in our group - only sorry we didn’t have enough time for the wine tour. A real highlight. Will be back again!

Read reviews on this trip and we were not disappointed. Absolutely great way to see the countryside away from the touristy parts of Salou. Our guide Kathrin was very informative on the areas we were travelling through to get to our destination before biking commenced. Had a couple to pit stops and even ate fresh figs picked from a tree as we were chatting. Really enjoyable afternoon....

We stayed in La Pineda for half term, and were looking for something different to do. This came up, and we decided to try it. It did not disappoint. The booking was straightforward, and we were picked up punctual outside our hotel. We were a family of 4, 2 kids: 13 and 10 years old. We were a bit anxious at first, and had a few whines from the 10 year old, but in the end, this was the highlight of our holiday. 5 star all round! We all loved every minute of it. We learned about Catalan culture too. We were taken on a small tour of an Olive oil place too at the end.
There were opportunities to have photos taken, and spring water was provided for everyone. Absolutely top! Thank you for a memorable experience. A*

Thank you so much for your nice review. We are happy your whole family enjoyed the trip including the young ones. Once you are out there it is a great experience to be in the middle of this great scenery.

Simply one of the best activities you can do while in the area. Suitable for the experienced and not-so experienced alike. My wife and I joined Kathrin and Manfred on the Tour d' Oli. It was a small group that day with only one other couple present. The tour is split between two stages: a shorter warm up followed by a longer, more challenging ride. I’m an experienced bike commuter while my wife is not. We both enjoyed it equally. Kathrin and Manfred took us through the safety checks and made sure everyone was comfortable before we started. The cycling itself is exhilarating and the location is stunning. It all felt very safe with people going at their own various paces. I’d like to add that the bikes are in great condition. Really well maintained and serviced. Absolutely recommended from me.

We are a family of 3 with a 10 year old who is not particularly confident rider. However the guides could not have been nicer. They were extremely helpful and informative. Everything felt incredibly safe and well set up. The scenery was beautiful and it was by far my favourite activity this holiday. The information about the surroundings and history of the area was an added bonus. Our guide was really knowledgeable and had a genuine enthusiasm for the area. A brilliant trip, would definitely recommend.

Hi Kath, thanks for your review. We are glad we could contribute to an enjoyable vacation and maybe increase the confidence of your son to ride a bike.
