Very organized tour..
Nov 2019 • Couples
I was really surprised how organized was the tour. It was really skip the line and the tour started before the Royal Palace opened. The tour guide did not rushed us and we enjoyed every word she said. We were first in and first out. As we were walking out we start seeing major crowd coming in.

Great tour
Oct 2019
The tour was great once we found the starting point. Looking for the guide took a lot of asking where the heck the statue was which was not close to the palace. Once we found the tour guide, he gave us some great insights of the palace. The guide really knew his stuff.

Informative Palace Tour
Jun 2019 • Family
Elias our guide did a great job of switching between English and Spanish on our tour and gave us a lot of interesting information on the Royal Palace. One thing to note is that because the tour is bilingual, it does take a bit longer.

My bad experience with Amigo Tours on 5/14/19 (Madrid Royal Palace Morning Guided Tour)
May 2019 • Solo
I booked this guided tour online in the US through Tiqets on 4/25/19. On 5/14/19, my Royal Palace Madrid morning tour was scheduled to meet at 8:30am on Plaza Opera, close to the statue of Isabel II.

I went to the meeting place on time, but I don't speak Spanish, so to find the meeting location, I asked a Spanish speaking student in the Opera house area, and he looked my ticket and told me to wait for the Amigo Tour guide in front of the Opera house. After 20 minutes I saw no body waiting there, I realized something was wrong, I asked another passed-by student again, then he told me the meeting place was actually behind the Opera house. So I rushed to the correct meeting place and found nobody there. So I rushed to a nearby coffee shop and they kindly helped me make a phone call to +34 93 220 17 06, I told them why I was not able to find Amigo tour. And I asked Amigo Tour to locate their tour guide so he/she can pick up me in the entrance, they said it's impossible as the tour guide cannot leave the group once they were inside the Palace; then I asked them to put me in afternoon tour group, they said it's impossible for making any change---if you missed the morning tour, then you missed it! So I got no help from Amigo Tour at all, then with a last hope, I went to the Royal Palace entrance, showed them my Tiqets/Amigo Tour ticket and asked them to let me in, surprisingly, the Royal Palace entrance officer said No to me, and told me my ticket was not sold by them, they cannot accept my ticket for entrance admission. My online booked this morning tour ticket was 25 Euro. And I was told it's non-refundable.

It was a very hot day (33C=91F) on 5/14/19, after I missed my morning Amigo tour with so much disappointment, I had no choice, but decided to go wait for the long line to purchase my entrance admission ticket in the Palace ticket office, and finally I bought my ticket to Royal Palace Madrid after 45 minutes.

So the lesson I learned to Royal Palace Madrid was that once you missed your guided tour, nobody will help you! even if they can, even if you hold a valid guided tour ticket from Amigo Tour. It was my first time to visit Madrid, it was in the early morning that day to find the meeting place, plus it's very hard to find an English speaking person to help you. My advice for other tourists is that Don't book any guided tour online with Amigo Tour unless you are 100% sure you can find the right meeting place on time. It's better to go to the Royal Palace Madrid ticket office directly at around 9am (the Palace opens at 10am-8pm), you wait for 30-45minutes to buy the admission ticket (it costs only 13 euro, and with extra 3 euro for audio-guide), you will save money and enjoy much better the self-walk tour with great audio-guide.

To my opinion, if a tour company doesn't want to help their customers, it's not a good company. Good reputation is building on trust and make your customers happy. In the US, if we don't get the service or we are not happy with the services, we will get refunds. Because the US companies understand that money is not everything, a good reputation will generate fortunes for any business..

Please note that the tour category selection has no morning tour choice, the only close one is the afternoon tour. I selected it, but my missed tour was a morning tour.

Pick a different tour services.
May 2019 • Couples
We chose this tour service (run by Amigo Tours) because it’s offered for the afternoon as we had something booked for morning already.

To start off.. the majority of us arrived at meeting point (at statue of Isabel II) early or on time. But she was waiting for several more people who quiet obvious were very late, so we didn’t actually start the tour until 10 minutes after the promised start time.

Then there are 15 of us, 13 are English speakers, 2 (a couple) are Spanish speakers. So this tour, that was supposed to run 1.5 hrs according to advertisement, ran over 2 hrs long because she had to switch back and forth speaking English and then translating in Spanish or vise versa.

I feel this is such a disrespectful of our time and quiet honestly unprofessional. I have never been on a tour where the guide has to repeat explanations in different languages. I am an avid traveler and been in similar type tours in other European countries and never encounter this issue. I went on a 2 hr FREE walking tour that same morning, and although there were Spanish speakers amongst us, our guide did NOT translate back and forth. He spoke Spanish while we walk when asked questions in Spanish, and then translated what he was saying to the rest of us, but not at every stop/explanation time.

Not gonna sugar coat it. I did not enjoy waiting around every time our guide was done with English explanation. I feel wether they have 2 or 10 different language speaking patrons, they need to run them separately, not take all our money and then Left some of us wondering around bored 1/2 of the time before we can move to the next exhibit. Some of the explanations are quiet extensive! This is not 2-3 sentences explanations per room. She is thorough in her explanation. I give you that! Hence the 2 stars. But the extra 45 minutes or so longer than the tour should be, was like a “pulling teeth” experience to get through the end. If it wasn’t because I had to check my backpack In and the guide had the key to the locker along with everyone else’s backpacks, we would have bolted earlier. 😡

Best Tour we hade in Madrid
Feb 2019 • Couples
The Royal Palace is a must do for visitors coming to Madrid. Our family of four had a great tour of the Palace with a very wonderful guide. Everything came off exactly as promised. An amazing place to see and hear the history. Don't forget to take the time to see the Royal Armory on your own at the end of the tour. Beautiful! A perfect and memorable experience.

Not enjoyable!
We visited the palace for the guided tour on September 10. As we were going to be a little late due to the traffic conditions, we called the booking office to inform them. The booking staff was extremely rude and not helpful. They refused to give us the exact pick up location or the guides number. The guide was decent. She could have been better at remembering the facts. Also we were told our tour would be in English and for 2.5 hours. However, we were surprised when the guide kept alternating between English and Spanish after each room visited. That almost doubled the time of our tour and was a gross misrepresentation of the actual tour time given, not to mention of how boring it made the entire experience for the guide to first finish talking in Spanish and wait for the English bit. Not happy at all
