- P386HRroberts0 contributionsElisa Made My Wife's Trip to Pompei UnforgettablePompei has been on my wife's "bucket list" since we were married -- nearly 42 years. We scheduled this trip 5 times during the pandemic -- and cancelled it 5 times. There was a reason for this -- and the reason was Elisa -- our tour guide for the 6th time! She is fantastic!!!! She is what every professional tour guide strives to be -- a subject expert, a mesmerizing story teller, and that person who you just want to sit down with and listen to for hours. From the moment we set off from the front gate, ubtil 2 hours later as we were exiting, she made you feel that you lived through the eruption of Vesuvius on October 24 79AD. And her anecdotes of the living conditions in that time and how they are relevant today, were great! Bravo to you, Elisa -- my wife cannot stop talking about you-- and thanking you -- for making her trip to Pompei a "highlight" of her life.Written 18 March 2024
- LoriM2970 contributionsAn outstanding experience with ElisaWe enjoyed this tour very much and were so happy to experience Naples and Pompeii. Elisa is an excellent guide - warm, friendly, humorous and knowledgeable - a highly recommended outing. THANK YOU!Written 15 March 2024
- Vacation2623920 contributionsPompeii not to be missedPickup well organised. Met guide at Pompeii (Erica) who was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and informative and moved the group through the ruins at the right pace giving enough time to stop and take in the experience. Answered all questions asked. Nice lunch, main course with 3 choices. Moved on to Vesuvius but weather prevented the final climb as it was closed for safety reasons. Disappointing but understandable. However cost of entry is to be refunded.Written 5 March 2024
- MMPJMH0 contributionsThe guide makes all the differenceWe decided to definitely take a guided tour of Pompeii to ensure we got the most out of it. Our group was about 20, and our tour guide, Elisa, was the absolute best. She has been in the business 30+ years, and not only knows her stuff, but she delivers it with polish and a fantastic sense of humor. Listening to her stories of the history of Pompeii and its people, she really bridged the gap between centuries and made it easy to imagine wandering the 79AD Pompeii before calamity struck. She moved us at a perfect pace, gave pertinent information, kept the group corralled and moving, while entertaining us from stop to finish. Well worth the $ on many levels.Written 1 March 2024
- Charlotte H0 contributionsThe guide made the tripThe guide was amazing, very knowledgeable and passionate. The tour was very informative. We will come again for a longer visit.Written 28 February 2024
- Molly F0 contributionsFrustrating transportationOur tour guide was fabulous, but the transportation and organization of the travel was frustrating. We were on the bus for an hour before we even left Naples, picking up other passengers and waiting for late passengers. There was too much travel and downtime.Written 20 February 2024
- G8012CWdavew0 contributionsGood tour. The tour itself was very good. The tour guide shared many interesting historical facts and stories. The shuttle driver did not know English, and everyone else getting on spoke Italian, so we did have some anxiety that we may not be going to Pompeii. However, it did work out.Written 11 February 2024
- cartama20000 contributionsGreat PompeiPompei is amazing, you can really visualize how the city was lived almost 2,000 years ago. We took a guided tour because it was easier and faster to get to the site. But if you have the time you don't need a tour.Written 11 January 2024
- Karen W0 contributionsPompeiiOur tour guide was excellent - very knowledgeable and very good at explaining the history of Pompeii. We were amazed at the size of the city and how preserved it is. Highly recommend this tour.Written 3 January 2024

- MrNick600 contributionsNick60If you are in this area of Italy then Mt Vesuvius is a must. It's a bit of a strain to walk up, but highly recommended. The views are wonderful and well worth doing. Highly recommended.Written 5 December 2023
- tjcnt0 contributionsVery informative, great if you have limited time. Our hotel wasn’t on the list for pick up, so was a short walk to a meeting point, which was no trouble. The pick up was running slightly late, which was messaged to me, so no problem. We were driven to Pompeii where we were met by a guide and moved into a larger group. The tour of Pompeii was great Erica was informative, we saw some amazing things. We were humbled and extremely thankful that we got to see this in our lifetime. There is so much to see you could spend the whole day, however we were on a time constraint to get a train to Rome in the afternoon, so the half day suited us perfectly. The only suggestion is that the bus driver on pick up could explain what to expect. We had no idea until we got there, we thought the driver was the guide.Written 4 December 2023

- belzkoch0 contributionsNo time spend at Vesuvius.Vesuvius was closed they said the day before our excursion was going to take place. We could cancel the whole trip or we could go to pompei and climb Vesuvius spending some time on the top of some viewpoints. We were picked up at 10. Were at Pompeii at 11. Had our tour. Lunch. Drove to the entrance of the park where we had a stop. Nothing to see there. Went back. Half way back another stop at the viewpoint. That was all. This was very little of what they promised or suggested. Only the entrance fee will be returned. My advice. Low season: take the train and get your guide. This adds no value at all. Now we spent from 10-16:30 just for two hours Pompeii. They should have dropped the whole afternoon program. Or give us the option choosing only Pompeii and be clear. Be precise! Now they suggested more than they could offerWritten 26 November 2023

We had a great day and perfect weather. We took the 45 min. ferry over to Capri with the tour. We saw several parts of Capri and there were choices to do the chairlift, boat tour around the island or walk and see the gardens and view and walk/shop around. Lunch was good and Francisco our tour guide was personable. A great overview of Capri if You only have 1 day.

The day trip to Capri from Maples was an excellent trip. Our tour guide, Dominic, was the absolute best guide. He spoke several languages and was so accommodating to all of us. His knowledge of the area and all of his suggestions were superb. If anyone else considered taking this trip, please ask for Dominic. You will not be disappointed.

On July 23, 2019, my cousin and went on tour to Capri with Dominic as our tour guide. He made the tour very enjoyable. After we were dropped of at the Marina, he met our small group. He was
very attentive to everyone and sensitive to their needs. He was fluent in several languages and very understandable when he spoke English, our language. He made us feel safe, comfortable and cared for. He had a good sense of humor and was very knowledgeable about Capri and Anacapri. He share a little about himself when asked which helped us to create a relationship with him. He pointed out all the important aspects and history of the island. He gave great recommendations as well. He checked on everyone and made sure we were not lost or left out. He was very friendly and flexible. In my opinion, he is the perfect guide.
The tour itself was well organized and he executed it perfectly.
I highly recommend this tour and hope you are blessed to have Dominic as your guide.

The tour was awesome and very enjoyable and our guide was very knowledgeable , so funny, friendly and very accommodating. Capri/Anacapri is a beautiful town! We enjoyed swerving the zigzag road of Capri and the boat ride was fun!. The view is exceptionally breath taking. It was just a pity the chair lift is still closed. I wish we had a longer time to explore the town.

For the price of this tour, we were expecting something incredible. It was far from that. We were pressured into going on the blue grotto tour, which was great to see, however we had to pay an additional €15 per person just to take the bus we were already on down to the grotto area, and then another €14 per person for our 3 minute grotto tour. And I’m truly not exaggerating, we spent no more than 2 minutes inside the grotto. The package is advertised as not including these things, however, the costs for them are WAY higher than they should be. On top of that, the tour was very disorganized and we ended up spending a large part of our day waiting for buses/boats/guides. We were also very disappointed that our tour guide did very little actual guiding. We saw so many other groups following around a guide who was providing information about the island and the sights they were seeing but we didn’t get any of that. Our guide essentially was just there as a person who arranged transport for us and that was all. ALSO, the tour is advertised as finishing the day with a guided tour of the Gardens of Augustus.... we did not do that nor was it even mentioned. As a quick rundown of how much time we spent waiting, we were picked up from the Starhotel Terminus at 8:30. We did not actually start any activity or tour on the island until after 12:00 pm. We had a little free time after lunch to wonder around Anacapri and then only 20 minutes in the afternoon to wonder around Capri. The rest of our day was spent waiting.

We found we could go from our hotel in Ercolano to Naples porto station (the terminus) on the circumversoviana railway that runs from Sorrento to Naples for 2.20 euros per person one way, then after an easy Ten minute walk from the station we the ferry to Capri, buying two return tickets for 40.00,
We did not want the round the island boat tour after a 45 minute boat ride to Capri. We had a three course lunch for two with wine for 22.00 each. So our day trip only cost my wife and I 70.80 euros. If we had chosen to go on the round the island additional trip it would have cost us an extra 18.00 euros each, thus making the trip we had cost of 106.80 euros for two persons instead of the tour cost of 270.00, quite a saving.
The same applied to most of the tours that are advertised on the internet and in hotel receptions, especially trips to Vesuvius, Pompéi, Herculaneum, Sorrento, all these places are accessible and much much cheaper by using the circumvesoviana railway and all are on the Naples to Sorrento line with the exception of Vesuvius where you leave the train at Erculano Scalia and right outside the station you get the bus to nearly the top of the volcano, it is then a steep walk of about one kilometre to the top. You also get off the train at Ercolano for the ruins of Herculaneum and walk from the station down the main road and all brown hill to the entrance of the ruins. The cost from Naples to Ercolano on the train is 2.20 one way per person. From Ercolano to Sorrento was 2.90 euros each one way and the cost from Ercolano to Pompéi was 2.00 euros each one way. I hope this info helps anyone planning a visit to the bay of Naples. Mike wooller

Looking forward to this but was disappointed by the sheer numbers of tourists on the island. Roads packed and narrow, harbour area chaotic. Ana Capri way too busy. Do take the chair lift to the top of the island the only bit of peace and tranquility you will find

Seeing Capri is a must, getting a guided tour is even better. Our guide Maria was great, explaining everything as we went. Lunch was ok but having a plan of where to go and what to do, and how to get there just makes everything easier. They do try to "up sell" you on the extras: chair lift, and boat tour, but yes they are all worth it.

We had a guide all to the two of us and we all got on well and we say all the best bits and more. The meal was ok but nothing more than good enough. There is a 45 minute ferry ride each way and the island will get busy in high summer but we went in March 2018 and was only at 50% capacity. Enjoyed the beauty and the history of the whole island.

If our cruise ship is scheduled to arrive at 7am into Naples, how soon could I book a ferry to Capri? Could we make an 8:05am ferry?
Does this tour pick up at the cruise port, if so at what time, and at what time does it return to the cruise port.

The boat tours to Capri run from, Naples on the hour but varyin time taken to reach Capri, from Sorrento they are smaller boats and run less frequently than Naples and a shorter crossing. From Ercolano they run at 09:15 and return to Ercolano dock at 16:50 ish. This is a smaller boat and takes on average 45 minutes depending on the weather. Capri is very nice but very busy in the port and town centre, the rest of the island is pretty and quiet because the road traffic is restricted. Hope this helps.

It will take you twenty mins to walk to the rail station, curcumvesoviana, take the hourly train to the Naples terminus, the last stop and closest to the port, you then have to walk a further twenty mins to reach the ticket office in the port. Cost of train from Ercolano to Naples Porto was 2.40 euros each one way.
After we exit the train station are we to look for you on the left side of the hotel on Accedemi della Moda?

Hello we are interested in the this trip but would like to know if the return trip to Naples is required. We will be arriving in Naples by train in the morning and would like to do this tour, but are staying in Sorrento that evening, so we do NOT want to go back to Naples at the end of the day. Is it possible to just catch a diffrent ferry to Sorrento at the end of the day?
Thanks!
