About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- peterduncan20220 contributionsVia AlgarvianaAmazing. Proactivetur did an excellent job planning our hike. The accommodation selected in each town was typically the best. Our luggage was always transferred on time and our lunches were packed. We had no glitches. The hike itself was a fantastic experience. Far enough south that you can easily walk it in January / February making it one of the very few hikes in Europe that you can do during the North American winter. It was routed to pass through all the little villages you encounter on the way giving you a feeling of the local life and the subsistence farming that supports them. The hike had some "longer days" (30km + 1800m of total climb) and some easy days. In all cases we got in before 5pm. But I would strongly recommend using a company like Proactivetur to plan your stays and ferry your luggage. It allows you the freedom of relaxing in the town centres and enjoying a beer on arrival knowing all arrangements have been made. We enjoyed the trip.Written 11 March 2024
- alexandrasB6719OT0 contributionsA happy disaster! Our guide didn’t show up but we were lucky to have found Lello! This review is for Lello an archaeologist who gives small group tours around Pompeii. If we could give Lello 6 stars we would! We had booked the private tour “Pompeii Tour for Children with skip the line tickets and kid-friendly guide” operated by Orange Tours through Viator. Sadly our booked guide did not show up and no notice of his unavailability was given from Orange Tours before the meeting time. Happily for us, Lello could see we had been stood up and contacted our operator on our behalf and organised a refund and a spot for us in his group. The 8 people in his group kindly accepted us and we couldn’t have been luckier! Hard to imagine our original booked guide could have been better! Lello is an amazing guide, so knowledgeable and a great story teller who kept my 8 and 11 year olds engaged (as well as the other young kids on the tour). There are so many intricate details that I am sure you can’t pick up if you are walking through Pompeii on your own. This morning’s tour has been singled out as a highlight of both kids’ holiday. It was so hot it is hard to believe they paid attention but they were hooked!Written 9 July 2023
- 232darlaw0 contributionsDay Trip to Pompeii and Amalfi Coast departing from Rome - Semi Private TourThis was booked through Viator, but the actual company doing the tour is Romaetravel. This was an excellent tour. They asked us if we could change the tour date from Monday to Sunday, which was fine. They picked us up at hotel, there were only 4 of us on the tour. We had a rest stop, then to Pompeii where we had another guide. Then on to drive through Sorrento and Amalfi coast, which was beautiful. Had a photo stop, then stopped at Positano for lunch and shopping, then on the Amalfi and a short stop there. Our guide Maure was wonderful, very knowledgable and personable. Our driver was excellent, expecially navigating all the windy roads. I would highly recommend this tour. It's a long day but totally worth it.Written 11 April 2019
- Sandra V0 contributionsJust one day? Best tour for Pompeii and Amalfi Coast-PositanoWith just one day to see Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast-Positano, this is the very best tour you could find. We had a really good driver, Enricho, and the very best guide, Alessandra. She was personable, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. She took time to engage every single one in our group. It was a long day with her and Enricho, but both kept always the best happy attitude. Alessandra gave us historical facts and fun stories throughout the trip, for each location we went to. We connected with a local guide while in Pompeii named Brunella. She was simply outstanding. Not very often do you get a guide at an historical place who is a PhD in archeology! Walking through the streets of Pompeii with her was like going back in time. This tour company does small groups, which is a definitely plus. No more than 18 people in my experience. We also took a tour of Rome and of Venice with this company during the same trip and I have to honestly say... they were just as outstanding! I highly recommend them.Written 4 April 2018
- Sonia S0 contributions2 1/2 hours of great informationThis was a mother daughter outing for the day and after we drove ( ok I drove and she slept) 2 hours to get to it we were happy to have received the link for the map and meeting point as well as the easy instruction and suggestions for parking. Lalla was there to meet us on time. We skipped the long line and even was able to get free entry for my 12 year old daughter even though I had forgotten her document to prove her age. Lalla brought us to all the main areas of the ruins in Pompeii. I was happy to have her as you could see those who were on their own looked lost and kept asking for directions! That would have been us if we had not booked the tour! Lalla was able to keep our 12 year old captivated during the whole tour. Don't forget comfortable shoes and hat, water, sunscreen! It had to be 40 degrees!Written 23 August 2016
- OlddearEssex0 contributionsA must for all ages.To visit Pompeii is an experience that would be enjoyed by all age groups, here you will find sex the explicit signs to the brothels, violence in the amphitheatre where the gladiators fought, beauty in the remains of the mosaics and works of art and the human tragedy of Pompeii itself. You need a certain amount of stamina to do the tour, approximately two hours walking over rough ground, but well worth the effort. Don't worry about filling your water bottle from the drinking water fountain we all did without any ill effects and a great deal of gratitude as it was 40 centigrade when we visited.Written 7 August 2016
