      Tivoli 2 trips
The time permitted for the two trips combined was not enough. Blink twice & it was over. This should not detract from the fact that both places are thoroughly worthwhile visiting but one at a time. A full day for Hadrian’s Villa (5-6 hrs) & Villa D’Este (2.5. -3 hrs) in order to immerse oneself & fully appreciate the history & beauty.

Take the tour but DO NOT get the lunch
We really enjoyed visiting the 2 sites as they were beautiful. The guide Giuseppe was informative and it was a nice day away from Rome. There are lots of steps so wear comfy shoes. DO NOT waste your money on the lunch. The food was not good and it took a very long time to be served. I would have preferred spending that time exploring the town. The poor waiter had to serve the four courses to the 34 people in our group all by himself while the owner/manager talked on her phone and worked on her laptop. Plus, we don’t drink wine, which is included with the lunch, and they charged us extra for a Coke. Another big turn off for me- the shop owners pounce as soon as you walk in the shops. They are very aggressive. I might have bought something if I could have browsed a little. Instead, I turned around walked right out

      A Drive through Roman History
This tour certainly exceeded my expectations. Since childhood, I'd wanted to see the Roman catacombs and walk on the Via Appia. My husband had wanted to see an aqueduct. This tour was an ideal chance to do all of it. Our van driver, Mario, and our tour guide Katia were a great team. While we patiently waited in Rome traffic, Katia pointed out sites we passed, giving us lots of historical detail but even better, she told interesting stories and provided color so we got a sense of what it might have been like to live in Rome at different times. And she answered questions, happily! A bit about the logistics: meeting and checking in was well organized. There were 6 on the tour so we fit in a comfortable van. There was not as much walking at the different stops as the tour description said. The only tough part was the stairs to the catacombs. But they were worth it! There we had an expert guide, Don Sam, who had been giving tours since 2006. His explanations were very informative and neutral in terms of religious aspects. He also answered our questions about geology, archeology, religious traditions, restorations, and history. The Via Apia portion did not disappoint! We stopped at one of the Roman mausoleums and heard about the castle's medieval history. We walked on the ancient road a bit. TIP: Think twice about a bicycle tour--the cobblestones probably made that experience painful! Plenty of young people were struggling. Driving out to the aqueduct, Katia told us the history of the great Roman families whose fame stretched from antiquity to modern times and gave us a taste of other villas and sites we might be interested in seeing. The stretch of aqueduct we visited was impressive--more than just a couple of ruined arches. There we learned more about ancient Rome's astounding water system. Leaving the intensity of Rome for a few hours in the countryside was just what we needed after a week of non-stop sightseeing. I highly recommend this tour to people of all ages and interest levels--even archeology and history buffs.

Not for slow walkers and bad knees
Beautiful and worth every cent. Not recommended for people who have issues walking. There are lots of stairs and lots of walking. My aunt was told she couldn’t continue the second half of the tour. She sat under a tree, I continued with a guilty conscience.

      Beautiful and Informative
An incredible tour with two pieces of the same story. Influential architecture, beautiful grounds, and time in a nice town. Even though this was the longest tour I could find for the sites, at times it felt rushed with the amount there is to see at both places.

Don't miss an opportunity to visit the Gardens of Tivoli
The trip to Hadrians Villa and the Gardens of Tivoli were excellent. Each place has a unique history of its own, the landscape, and how residents lived during this period. Hadrians architecture and engineering were marvels with only partial remnants that will entice your vision of what was. On the other hand, Tivoli was intact, and the interior was amazing with incredible paintings that will take you back in time. The gardens were exceptional, and again, the ingenuity of how they designed each section as well as each water feature are unbelievable. Both are worth a trip out of Rome for a fantastic day.

      Day trip to Tivoli
Visiting the town of Tivoli is an hour drive out of Rome, a great change of pace. We were separated into two groups - with lunch and without lunch. We met the tour guides in Tivoli and of course they imparted loads of information and history. We went on our own for lunch. Our tour guide suggested a restaurant - this is where we ate but there are other places you can try near Villa D'Este down some little streets - plenty of options. Leave room for gelato. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes as Villa D'Este has a lot of stairs. Overall, both Villas are beautiful - you'll need to use imagination for Hadrian's Villa as it would have been very grand.

Do this tour, you won’t be disappointed
This was a fantastic tour. Our guide was very impressive with his historical knowledge. He lives in Tivoli and was keen to share his knowledge of its history with us. The first half of the tour was going through Hadrian’s garden. An amazing place. The man was a genius and his architectural designs are something to be seen. The second half was walking through Tivoli gardens, with sensational water fountains and gardens and rooms filled with amazing art.

Tour guide great, end of tour horrible
First of all, there is no signage for Nicom Tours on their building. Trying to use Google Maps anywhere in the Vatican City area was useless as the directional needle constantly fluctuated and was unreliable. Nicom Tour needs to immediately change the sign above their building entrance if they’re going to operate under multiple company names. Our guide Francesco was excellent, well prepared, knowledgeable and engaging. However at the conclusion of the tour he left us to fend for ourselves to find our way out of the Vatican. We wandered around for nearly two hours in the dark before we found a cab stand outside of the Vatican. For the price of the tour, the very least the company can do is issue a simple exit map detailing steps back to the original entry point so we can backtrack our way back to our hotel. Beware, the tour is 3 full hours long, no breaks, hot, humid, lots of walking, stair climbing and absolutely nowhere to sit and take a break on the old bones.

      NICOM TOURS... JUST DON'T 😡
OMG! Awful experience! I had printed confirmation of the tour, meeting point etc, was 30 minutes early to the meeting point NO GUIDE. Frantic calls to Nicom with no answer, then a call at 4 minutes passed the start time to say that the meeting point was elsewhere!! Make it there as quickly as possible to find the tour had left! Ongoing emails trying to get a refund, not holding out much hope.... off to the Vatican on Wednesday (with another provider) will drop in on their office see if that moves things along 😉

Quick but lovely. To appreciate it all, one needs more time at each place. Very cool to see the old and the "new"! Hope for nice weather!

      Watch out from this tour
The worst tour I been at. We almost didn't been in villa handriana. The tour guide was nice but didn't explained much. I didn't want to buy lunch but from thee site you have to buy it and no refund for it. I left the tour in the middle

It was well organized and very informative.
This trip was well organized and very interesting. It was comfortable and I truly enjoyed every minute of it. I would not sign up for the lunch though. It was ok but I could have done better on my own. This was one of the most beautiful gardens I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to many!! Well worth the money.

Although we do not remember her name, this was another tour that was well worth our time. There was no rushing and we were able to have a few moments to observe the details as we walked from the square to the collesium. There was so much historical facts to take in so it was really nice to be able to stroll through the areas to imagine what it was like.

Virginia was a lovely tour guide. It was my family and another couple. We enjoyed the history of Rome as we stopped at each site. Virginia did a wonderful job telling us about all the nuances of the Eternal City. We're glad we did this at night. Trevi Fountain was beautiful to see in the evening!

I am traveling with my husband and college age daughter. I arranged this walking tour after reading several recommendations on Trip Advisor. This three hour walking tour of Rome with local expert Irene Amadeo is an absolute must! We met wonderful people from around the globe as Irene guided us through the streets of Rome edifying us with her knowledge of Roman Art history, language, religion and culture while also providing us us glimpses of local, neighborhoods, customs and daily life. Irene was delightful, entertaining and engaging sharing her love for all things Rome with us. Thank you, Irene, for making our first evening in Rome one we will always treasure!!!

We booked this tour with City Wonders. Our host was friendly and informative. He spoke clearly so it was not a problem hearing him. He gave us interesting information. However, it could be a little cheaper as all you do is walk around.

This review is for the tour operator, not the tour itself. I accidentally booked the tour on the wrong night (same day, not next day), and it was impossible to change the date on-line or otherwise contact them to reschedule. The only phone# I had was for their office, which was closed, even though it was not 6pm yet. I tried to run over to the tour/walk meeting site, and made it there before 6pm (but not 20min ahead of time like they ask...but this is because I accidentally scheduled the wrong day...that was the problem in the first place), and I could not find the tour group or guide, to see if I could talk to them and reschedule for the next day. I only had a few days in Rome, so I had to reschedule it right away. In the end, I could not contact them to reschedule, in the time I had for my trip to Rome. But they insisted on charging me for the tour anyway, even though I tried contacting them to fix the issue. They said they were saving a spot for me on the tour (which I had just booked by accident about 2hr before it started..that was the problem), but then why didn't they try calling me when I was a "no show"??? They made no attempt at all to contact me, and I was at the meeting spot by 6pm anyway, trying to call them and only getting voicemail. So...beware of this tour operator...make sure you pay attention when booking your date/time. Booking the wrong date was my fault, but they did not give me any chance to reschedule it and just wanted to charge me for nothing, really. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE is what my poor rating is for.

This was a nice introduction to Rome. Our tour guide Irene Amedeo was excellent. She was very accommodating and the tour moved at a nice pace. Rome is beautiful at night and I highly recommend the tour. Irene told us things about the local culture that I would not have known otherwise.

My son and I had a fabulous walking tour of Rome in the early evening led by our wonderful guide Irene Amedeo. Our tour was slightly different than the one listed here on Tripadvisor - we did not do the Colosseum on our tour. However, we hit many of Rome's greatest sights, including the Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. We took many routes off of the "beaten path" including the criminally underrated Jewish section of Rome. Irene told many wonderful stories and made this a truly special experience for us. Irene showed special attention to my 12 year old son and made this an experience he won't ever forget.

I cannot recommend enough taking a tour of Rome with Irene!

We are currently trying to get part of our money back on this tour because the first half of the tour was not acceptable: the bad quality radios and walking route along very busy main roads made it impossible to hear our guide even walking alongside her. So we didn’t learn a anything until we got to a quiet part of Rome for the second half of the tour.
