It took 43 years to come back to Rome and finally made it back. I came to Rome to see the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican when I was 21 years old and left the place completely awe struck and speechless. I didn't have a tour guide then but this time around I wanted to make sure I was going to get as much history and information as I could to really enjoy my experience. First, the Vatican Museum is the third largest museum in the world. What you will see and the amount of artwork and sculptures going as far back as the Etruscan period will just blow you away. You will get to see works by Caravaggio, Raphael, Botticelli, Michael Angelo, Bernini to name a few and to suggest that you can take this all in in just under 3 hours is ludicrous. You could spend a year there and not see everything but what you do see is, to put it simply, incredible. Of course the piece d' resistance is the Sistine Chapel. Folks this is simply breathtaking. Nothing an truly demonstrate the magnificence of this sacred place. Books and movies give you a great history of the place but as the saying goes...seeing is believing and you definitely have to see this place for yourself. To think that it took one man 4 years to paint the ceiling only to create one of the greatest masterpieces in history is mind boggling. I have said it before that to create this kind of work you have to be touched by the hand of God himself. Everything else pales in comparison when you see this and the Last Judgement.

When I first saw this it was dark and covered with centuries of smoke and dirt and now to come back and see it cleaned....well the colors just jump out at you. The characters on the ceiling and the front wall (The Last Judgement) seem to come alive and you are immediately pulled into the history of the place. This is no doubt one of if not the greatest piece of art ever created by man.

Our tour guide for the Vatican Museum was Eleanor. She was incredible and so knowledgeable and engaging. Again, you can do this on your own but you miss out on so much....more than you can imagine. I highly recommend this group and ask for Eleanor. She is just superb!!!

It was completely worth the slightly higher price to be on a private tour. We were able to move much more at our own pace and our guide, Oscar Minutillo, quickly determined our particularly interests. He was knowledgeable, funny and packed a lot into the time we had - somehow without making us feel rushed. Due to Covid, St. Peter's Basilica was not included in the tour. Our booking price was reduced and refunded. Oscar also told us that the lines for the public admission were not too long for the basilica and gave us some highlights to look for if we decided to go on our own, which we did. Excellent experience!

My husband and I did the tour of the Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel four days ago. Our tour guide Mickey was excellent. He conveyed all facts and information in a super interesting way, which kept our attention throughout the entire tour. He was engaging, had a good sense of humor, maintained a very pleasant speed throughout and spoke excellent English. We highly recommend the tour itself and Mickey as the guide.

Don’t book with City Wonders. There are plenty of other tour options when you get there that are less pricey than city wonders. My wife and I showed up to their supposed meet up spot and they did not display their city wonders sign therefore I could not find them, which ultimately led to them leaving without us.

When I called to reschedule or get a refund, they said since it was past the time of the reservation, there was nothing they can do.

Be advised they have false advertisement on their website saying they will help with rescheduling and refunds, however this was not the case.

This tour only includes the museums and not an actual tour of the Sistine Chapel or St. Peter’s Basilica, just tickets to go to see those on your own, so what we paid for and what we got was misleading. When we arrived through conversation the guide mentioned we could see them on our own. When I asked about them being included and showed my voucher stating all three were included the guide basically said in NOT a very nice way, like she was annoyed “That was two years ago, we don’t even do those tours anymore. I’m just a guide, you’re on your own, you have to deal with the tour company yourself...” I got the impression this had happened before. I messaged the tour company on the spot and didn’t get a response until two days later long after the tour was over basically saying it did not include St. Peter’s Basilica. So, not the most professional way to handle and not what we paid for. Buyer beware.

Dear HJDMunoz, Thank you for posting a review on Trip Advisor. We're sorry that we are no longer including Saint Peter's Basilica. However we would like to clarify that this is clearly stated in the description of the tour before you book it. This tour used to last 3 hours pre-Covid, however now the new duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes as we are unable to access the Basilica using the passage between the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica. The reason is that the Vatican Museums have closed this access since the start of Covid. Please note that the price has also been adjusted and the tour is cheaper due to the Basilica not being included. Regarding the Sistine Chapel, I would like to clarify that this is included and the guide did take you there; however the venue does not allow the guides to speak inside the Sistine Chapel, therefore they have to provide all the comments outside the Chapel and then let the clients go in on their own and stay there for as long as allowed. Finally, we reply to all emails but it may take us up to 48 hours hours to get back to emails depending on the volume. Therefore for any urgent queries, we recommend that clients contact us over the phone so that we can assist immediately. We wish you safe travels. Kindest Regards Chadia City Wonders.

We booked back to back tours of St Peters (including doom climb) then a private tour of the Vatican museum and Sisten chapel. First tour ran late and despite leaving it early and running to the second location we were 5minutes late. We arrived at 1035 and we were supposed to be there at 1030. When we arrived the unhelpful guide in the location said our tour had left. Despite knowing the group would not have even cleared security he would not contact his colleague or try and help us join. So disappointing as we had already done multiple tours with them and on every occasion we waited in access of 15 min for late arrivals. We also tried to call as we were running to the venue only to get a recorded voice mail. Of course City Wonders was unwilling to offer a refund or credit, which I believe is questionable given it is my understanding they only pay the Vatican for the number of people that actually enter. Anyway I rate a company’s customer service on how they handle these type of issues. 0 stars to City Wonders on this occasion.

Dear R6505UYjohns, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on Trip Advisor. We are sorry to hear that you missed your second tour to the Vatican Museums. Unfortunately, the first tour you booked ( St Peter's Dome Climbing with Basilica) started at 08:10 AM and was finishing at 10:25 AM. And your next tour on the same day, which you missed ( Vatican Semi Private tour) was scheduled to depart at 10:30 AM, with check in 15 minutes prior to the departure. To walk between the 2 locations, there is a 12 to 16 minute walk from the Basilica to the Vatican Museums. We are sorry that you did not contact us prior to booking the tours, as we would have recommended you to book the Vatican Semi private tour for a later departure time as you would not have made it to your next tour unfortunately. All our confirmations clearly state that clients must check in at least 15 minutes prior to start of the tour. Also, we include the duration of each tour and the expected end time. Also, depending on the tour, we may be able to wait a few extra minutes, unfortunately with the Vatican Museums tours, the tickets we get have a specific entrance time on them and the venue is very strict so if we miss the entrance time, we cannot get in and the entire group is penalized; which is not something we can risk with the clients who made it on time. As a result, for this tour, the guide could not wait for late arrivals. I would like to clarify as well, that the Vatican tour you booked was not Private but Semi Private, which means that there were other clients in your group. Please kindly note that as a courtesy, we always try to call clients who are not at the meeting point before the official departure time, our records show that one of our agents tried to contact you too but there was no answer. Finally, I would like to clarify that the Vatican tickets bear a specific entrance time that has to be respected. Once that time has passed, the ticket is invalid and cannot be used. It is also non refundable and therefore lost. As result, the tickets that were reserved for your party were pre-purchased and non refundable. We are sorry that despite all our efforts we failed to satisfy you. Thank you for your understanding. Kindest Regards Chadia City Wonders.

Hard to figure out which one of these is the tour i did. Didnt book through trip advisor. But Christina from Georgia was a delight. Very knowledgeable and made it very clear what we would be doing next. Taking all the guess work out. Very funny too. Not a dry tour at all. Fun and lively. The hours went by so fast!

Our guide Eva (originally from Sweden) was absolutely amazing. She was able to navigate us through the crowds with ease, and her knowledge as an art history major really brought the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica to life. She gave us all kids of details that we never would have gotten on our own. Our whole family, including 4 boys (ages 12, 13, 14 and 24) all thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Eva was also very generous with her time and we never felt rushed. Definitely the highlight of our whole trip to Rome!
