Powered by this company called The Roman Food Tour: a robust 4 hour food tour that just flew by and I savored every moment. 4 hours beginning at 4:30pm, so perfectly straddled both sunset hour and dinnertime. At the end I went straight to my hotel and slept extremely well after such a fulfilling dinner experience.

There was a bit of a snag with scheduling as I received a call from Josh a day prior requesting to reschedule due to a guide being out sick. At first I was planning to just opt for the refund but because he was so courteous, I moved around our itinerary to accommodate the next evening. Certainly appreciated the open communication, including how he was willing to send over recommendations in the area even if we had opted out, which was a nice gesture.

Ariana was our tour guide and totally fantastic. The Prati district was a good balance after spending most of our week to that point in the Rome proper; this neighborhood definitely felt more 'chill,' yet still food-oriented. She did such a great job of balancing the group of about 15 (I believe max capacity) even with the majority being a group of American seniors that requested special accommodation (i.e. taxi vs. walking 10min to certain destinations). Her patience was utterly commendable.

We stopped by ALL great spots. Started with a meat/cheese/balsamic vinegar sampling then moved to Pizzerium Bonci which was definitely a highlight as it was high on my personal list. I loved the balance of famous, well-known spots like that with more local destinations. Portions were plentiful and we had our share of appetizers, pizzas, pasta, dessert, you name it. The tour ends with a proper seated meal; FYI there is definitely a decent level of people interaction involved (for those who find those with social anxiety, this might not be for you).

All in all a truly wonderful experience with interesting, fun stories from historical fun facts to the neighborhood and spots themselves. Definitely recommended if you want to experience a solid slice of Roman cuisine.

I had originally booked the day tour but as I was the only person to book that tour I was offered a move to the sunset tour. I am so glad I went for it, from start to finish it was a brilliant experience.

We ended up as a friendly group of 11 (+ the guide) made up from a range of nationalities though everyone joined in and got to know the others.

1st off, our guide Tatiana was brilliant, she was energetic, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very entertaining as well as having a very genuine love of Italian food and wine as well as the city and area.

We had 4 stops and sampled a wide range of different foods and wines (all included in the price) there wasn't a bad mouthful amongst them but my favourite had to be the 1st stop and Nick deserves a lot of praise as he too was very engaging and showed a genuine love for the food and wine.

I have done a few food tours in different countries and cities but this is favourite. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or take another tour myself.

My brother and I joined this tour on our first full day in Rome, what a fantastic decision! Our guide Ashley did a fabulous job imparting a passion for the food and explaining it in a way that brought both the flavors and culture around it to life. There was also a great mix of people from all walks in life, and the atmosphere, as with any good meal, promoted conversation and connection.

Expect lots of delicious food, wine, and laughs. Also expect some walking between stops, so wear appropriate footwear. Note that there was a person on our tour with food allergies, and they were able to accommodate her (though I would recommend writing ahead, since they are working with small local establishments!).

We did the Prati by Sunset tour on our first visit to Rome. It will be remembered as one of our highlights of our trip to Italy. Our guide was absolutely delightful and extremely knowledgeable. Our group of 12 adults quickly acquired a feeling of camaraderie while tasting amazing food and wine in the neighborhood. We were introduced to many different foods and wines, with ample amounts (actually, MORE than ample) to taste and enjoy. The hosts of each stop we made were welcoming and food presentation was beautiful. We walked the entire tour, which gave us time to digest a bit between courses and enjoy the sights of the area. The culmination of the tour was when my husband was brought out a bottle of wine with a lighted candle to celebrate his birthday. The tour coordinator was true to his word when I informed him ahead of time of his birthday and said they would recognize it. All in all, it was a fabulous tour which I would wholly recommend.

Our tour guide, Pablo was great. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and kept the wine and Prosecco flowing.

I anticipated one food item and one glass of wine at each stop, I could have not been more wrong. We started at a small cafe and market where we were treated to a sampling of items based on powerful quality ingredients in different but simple forms. Highlights included the roasted red pepper pesto, variety of truffle infused products and most incredible to us was the Asiago cheese dripped with 28 year aged balsamic(which retails in the market for 160 euros a bottle).

From there we went on a whimsical journey around the Pratti district. The food and anecdotes were ever present as well was the wine.

Our guide, Pablo, was very helpful booking taxis and giving directions to the metro as we departed.

I could not recommend this tour any higher!

The Roman Food Tour in the trendy Prati neighborhood is a must do shortly after arriving in Rome. Our outstanding guide Giada introduced us to both the foods and wines of Italy, especially Rome. Each stop was unique and showcased local and regional cuisine. Giada’s colorful commentary demonstrated her vast knowledge of Italian food and wine, and it prepared us for our subsequent visits to Italian eateries and bars. We were glad that we arrived hungry as there was ample food served and wine poured during the evening. We were a private group of 12 with ages ranging from 40’s to 70’s; everyone was engaged and enjoyed the evening.

This tour is FANTASTIC & we’ll worth the money. The variations of food is interesting and immensely tasty and PLENTIFUL. Our Tour Guide Tatiana was outstanding - she is someone who is passionate about food & Rome and loves passing that passion on. Definitely do this tour.

My husband and I did this tour with Francesca. There was one other couple in our evening group. The food and wine were phenomenal! The first two places we went to were very intimate, yet welcoming. At each of those locations we tried excellent cheeses, pesto sauces, and meats. After that she took us to a pizza place where we each selected one type to try and the restaurant cut up portions for everyone to share! By that point we were already starting to get full and luckily we had ~15-20 min walk to the next location. There we went to a beautiful covered garden and got a plate of gnocchi and ravioli, followed by calamari. As if that wasn’t enough, we ended the evening with incredible gelato! Between the four of us on the tour we also drank three bottles of wine.

In addition to the great food, the company was wonderful. Francesca has so much to say about Rome and gives you the opportunity to experience places off the beaten path you wouldn’t think to try on your own. An absolutely wonderful experience! My only regret was not taking more pictures.

Although our guide, Tatiana, was informative and sweet, our group was disappointed with the food tour for many reasons. We had to wait because other food tour groups weren't done. While we were at one restaurant, another food tour came in and sat at another large table next to us. Two of the restaurants were so hot we had to ask for the AC to turn on. At the last stop, there was a hard-sell to buy merchandise from the deli. All in all, it didn't seem authentic and special, it felt generic and too-big business.

Phenomenal experience! The food was amazing! Marilisa was an outstanding guide, providing expert insight for all of the fantastic garnishments, entrees, cheeses, wines, and desserts we enjoyed. We spent 4 days in Rome and this was by far the highlight of the trip. We had dinner at four different restaurants and had excellent conversations with people from all over the world. We enjoyed the best food Rome has to offer while truly gaining a culinary and cultural perspective complete with history of Italian cuisine. Recommend 10/10 Do yourselves a favor and do not leave without stocking up on the genuine gourmet balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and Pesto- you will not regret it at all!! We’ve been making dishes all week since we returned from this tour just to enjoy the balsamic vinegar, olive oil and the exquisite pesto we purchased on this tour. Enjoy!!
