Meet your guide and group at 10am at Via Labicana in Central Rome. With your group together, you’ll travel past Caffarella Park to Rome’s Capanelle train station. Board your train to Castel Gandolfo, and relax on the 30-minute journey to the pretty hilltop town.
While best known as the site of the papal summer retreat, Castel Gandolfo also boasts picture-perfect scenery with striking views over Lake Albano. Hop off the train and onto your bike for a ride around the water’s edge. If the weather is good, there may even be chance for a cool-down dip in the lake.
Stop for lunch at a restaurant with a lake view, then return to your bike for a downhill ride along the ancient Appian Way to Rome. The cobblestone road dates back more than 2,300 years, and is flanked by the ruined remains of Roman tombs and temples.
Your tour then ends in central Rome.
