Overview
Stay a step ahead of the crowds with this early access tour of the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. With skip-the-line entry before the doors open to the public and access to reserved corridors, the tour has all you need to beat the Vatican crowds at two of its most sacred sites. There are even less people on the tour itself, with numbers capped at just 12 per group.
What to Expect
Meet your guide and group near the Ottaviano metro station in Rome, and head straight to the Sistine Chapel. Entering before the chapel officially opens its doors, you’ll see the sacred place as it was meant to be seen: in a state of tranquility, before the general public enter.

After admiring Michelangelo’s lauded frescoes that cover the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling and back wall, you’ll follow your guide along a reserved-access corridor that links the chapel to St. Peter’s Basilica.

Here, you’ll go straight to the basilica’s highlights, hearing the history behind Bernini’s bronze baldachin and Michelangelo’s La Pietà, which was carved from a single slab of Carrara marble. When you tour ends, you can stay inside St. Peter’s Basilica to explore more at your own pace.

early start was worth the effort

Going early to the Sistine Chapel was fantastic. The crowds were so small, it really was a pleasure to walk through the museum halls and the Chapel in peace and quiet. Our guide, Claudia was delightful.

Go early - its worth the cost.

We took the tour where our group was the first in the Sistine Chapel. It was well worth it. We were able to enjoy Michelangelo's masterpieces in a quiet and reverent manner befitting a church. A priest said an opening prayer and then we had...More

Fantastic guide

We were fortunate to have Gigi as our guide for this tour. His knowledge and passion were exceptional. Could easily spend much more time in the museums but the tour was a very good introduction. Would also recommend early entry to avoid the crowds, even...More

Great tour guide, best time to go was in winter as crowds were smaller

We had been to Vatican one summer, and it was an awful experience, as it was packed with tourists (such as us) and you could barely breathe or walk around. This time we went in December, were there were barely any crowds, had a great...More

4 hours and it flew by. Wear really comfortable shoes and bring two water bottles. Lots of very clean bathrooms, but you will need water with all the walking and stairs.

These are skip the line. There are other tours waiting also. You are with the guide when you enter the museum.

Yes. We saw the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basillica with the tour. We could have gone back to any of the places when the tour was done, but we didn’t feel the need because the tour was so thorough.
