Best tour ever!
Jul 2021 • Couples
I have traveled the world and I have done many tours but this was definitely one of the best! The tour was excellent, it captures everything you need to see in order to experience the full beauty and glory of the Vatican!
Our tour was really special thanks to our guide Letizia Benedetti! I have never seen more passionate guide! She really took her time and went the extra mile for us! Very friendly and knowledgeable lady and I would recommend her to everyone!

Dear Guest, we're glad you enjoyed your Semi-private tour of the Sistine Chapel - it's a perfect choice to visit the Vatican Museums in a small-group at a reasonable price so you feel more cuddled by your local guide. Thanks for your thumbs-up and high rate. Best regards, the Gray Line I Love Rome Team

Nice Tour
Sep 2019 • Couples
Our guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant and we enjoyed the experience. I wasn’t expecting such a large group since it was advertised as a small VIP tour. What you don’t realize is that there will be thousands of VIP tours going on at the same time. However, this is the best skip the line option.

Vaticani museum
The guide was an old female well articulated and knowledgeable. We had an issue with audio devices as they were worthless and unpredictable either they work for few moments or they dont. You have to be really close to the guide to hear from device. Anyhow the lady was a one way communication robot no interaction or q&a with the group
None whatsoever. Spent over one hour beginning of your pit in the sun explaining pictures posted outside of museum. Too much of minor details. Museum was hot and over over crowded. The guide didnt make it anymore interesting. Dont recomend.

Dear Emana, we’re sorry about these issues that made your experience inside the Vatican Museums fall short of your expectations. We take feedbacks about our staff and guides seriously, actually new training phases are happening right now, so your opinions will be taken into consideration. As far as the audio devises are concerned, they usually work fine but sometimes the concrete walls of the Vatican and the crowds don’t allow perfect reception. We apologize about it, we’ll make sure this is an issue that will have smaller and smaller impact in the future. Thank you for reaching out with your review, best regards, the Gray Line Rome Team

Charged twice for a tour
Jul 2019 • Couples
My husband and I booked for a private tour of the Vatican Museum, St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel paying €219 for the tour. It was booked by the hotel staff from the Marcella Royal Hotel in which we were staying. After completing the tour I came back to the hotel and checked my travellers debit card statement. I then learned that I had been charged twice for the tour. After speaking with both the hotel and the tour company on numerous occasions to try and recover my money neither of them would return my money. Even though I have showed both companies my bank statement clearly showing the double debit! They could also see that there had not been any credit back to the account for the extra booking charge. This error was not my doing and I now have to get my bank to try and recover the funds when I get home in two weeks and it now leaves me short of cash for the rest of my holiday. Stay away from both companies as they are NOT concerned about their customers and they are great at shifting the blame to others!!! Will never deal with either of them again!

Dear Kim, we're sorry for this inconvenience, your issue is known and has been looked into with all the attention and velocity it deserved. We actually sent you a further private message earlier this afternoon (from the address guest-relation-manager@graylinerome.it) to once again reassure you that our bank logs don't show a double charge for your Vatican Museums tour reservation. What happened is that the first transaction attempt was refused and only the second was successful. We don't know exactly why your bank shows two identical movements (charges), but we're certain that one is a "pending" transaction, which will result in a balance as soon as your statement status updates. You can check it online at any time, and we are available to an open discussion via email (see above) on an ongoing basis until your issue is resolved. The last thing we want is that a Gray Line Rome customer feels betrayed and not in good hands when it comes to reserving a guided tour with us regardless of the channel through which the transaction is processed (our website, a hotel, a third party distributor etc.). We'll be in touch, best regards, the Gray Line Rome Team

Semi Private is excellent. Only ten in our group.
Jul 2019 • Couples
The semi private tour allowed us to get around much more quickly on a very hot, crowded day.
Our guide is very knowledgeable and answered questions readily. I believe her name is Seminelle (sp)? Excellent tour, comparable to our other semi private tours in Italy.

Unprofessional Pick-up / Much Too Crowded and Too Fast Moving To Be Semi-Private
May 2019 • Solo
Very disappointed with this company – I would recommend you book with someone else.

I paid for pickup at my hotel, but rather than a van form the company, the pickup turned out to be a taxi that they sent to get me. There was no one from the company in the car, and I had to trust that the driver new where to take me as I did not know where I was supposed to meet the tour. When I arrived, there was no one from the company waiting to meet me where the taxi dropped me, just a Rome Tourism employee I had to ask where to go. Had I known this is what the pickup would be, I would not have paid the company for it and would have made my own way to the tour.

The tour itself was very rushed. I went specifically to take photos, and we moved so fast that if I stopped for a minute or two to take a shot, when I turned around the group was gone and I had to guess which way they had gone. There were extended periods of walking time between stops, including turns and going up and down stairs, so there was a real danger that stopping for a minute or two could result in my being permanently separated from the group. I could have easily gotten lost. Since the guide did not stop for long at many sights, I was not always able to hear her comments when I was looking at the art. Given the price of this tour, I expected participants would be reasonably able to take photos but it was a challenge in reality. I did manage to get a lot of shots, but only because I made the extra effort.

I don't think 2 1/2 hours is enough time for something that is supposed to be a semi-private tour, and a semi-private tour should be offered earlier in the day when the Vatican is not so crowded. The museums were so crowded and the tour moved so quickly, I got very little benefit from being in a small group. I expected a better, more personal experience for this price with a semi-private tour billing and that the guide would make more of an effort to keep the group together.

I feel sorry for people who booked the 1:00 tour today (which had also been offered to me as an option when I booked the day before the tour) as the Basilica closed at 1:00 today so they missed a big part of the tour. Since the Basilica closed for a diplomatic event that must have been scheduled in advance (our guide knew about it before our 10:00 am tour) I am surprised the company did not mention this at the time of booking. Fortunately, I picked the earlier 10:00 am time available when I booked, but again there were just too many people around at that time for any kind of a private tour feel.

So overall a big disappointment. The unprofessionalism of sending a taxi to pick me up without any representative of the company in the car rather than the company van I would expect a tour company to send to pick me up left a bad taste in my mouth and I would hesitate to book anything with Gray Line - I Love Rome again. There are better tour companies out there - book with one of them instead!

Our tour guide Alessiam (I think that's her name) was fantastic. She really knows her stuff. And she could really keep track of her tour group despite the massive crowd present on the day we were at the Vatican. Very organized tour.
