Pass By: DriverinRome Transportation & Tours, Via Pian del Marmo 21, 00166 Rome Italy

Meet your driver at your centrally located hotel in Rome and embark on a journey that will take you back to AD 79 when Mount Vesuvius, one of history's most destructive volcanoes, erupted destroying the ancient towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Head south on the A1 Highway of the Sun for a 2h & 45 minute ride until you reach Pompeii.

Pass By: Bay of Naples, Italy

Drive by the roughly 15-kilometer-wide gulf located along the south-western coast of Italy . It opens to the west into the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered on the north by the cities of Naples and Pozzuoli, on the east by Mount Vesuvius, and on the south by the Sorrentine Peninsula and the main town of the peninsula, Sorrento. The Peninsula separates the Gulf of Naples from the Gulf of Salerno, which includes the Amalfi coast.

Pass By: Vesuvius National Park, Via Palazzo del Principe, 80044 Ottaviano Italy

Vesuvius has erupted many times since and is the only volcano on the European mainland to have erupted within the last hundred years. Today, it is regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world because of the population of 3,000,000 people living nearby, making it the most densely populated volcanic region in the world, as well as its tendency towards violent, explosive eruptions of the Plinian type.

Stop At: Pompeii - Archaeological Area., Porta Marina Superiore (Via Villa dei Misteri) Piazza Immacolata, Piazza Porta Marina inf., 80045 Pompeii Italy

Spend 2 hours with a local guide at the now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pompeii's archeological site is fascinating to explore with well-preserved fossils and ruins that lay beneath volcanic ash for centuries. Walking for approximately 2,5 hours with your private English speaking guide, visitors get a true sense of the sophistication, luxury and lifestyle of Pompeii before the volcano erupted as they enter the Forum and see the Large Theatre, visit houses, shops and brothels.

After your visit, stop for a quick bit before heading back to your hotel in Rome

    Wonderful Day!
This was the best excursion we took on our cruise. Our boat was three hours late into port due to high winds. We expected the trip would be cancelled, however Valero was waiting for us when we arrived, and he ensured we had a great day. He was interesting to talk with with and assisted my husband in finding the perfect bottle of wine along the way. Pisa and Florence were beautiful. Valero kept the small group on time and ensured we returned to the ship in plenty of time. I would highly recommend this tour.

    So much to see.
Driver was Claudio, friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Rome was amazing, line up for St. Marks square was too long for us to wait as Pope was addressing the crowd and security was tight. But managed to walk around perimeter and take pics. Had a wonderful lunch Claudio advised choices. The day was ful of amazing sights, still trying to get my head around Collisium standing after all these centuries. Definitely tell my friends about Trip Advisor.

    Pisa and Florence Sightseeing
Our tour was great. Did not get to go in the Leaning Tower as the times available did not correspond to the time we had there. The guide was excellent. She kept us on time and made sure we were back to the ship on time. Lots of walking and wear comfortable shoes.

    Florence, Pisa and Livorno
We visited Florence upon arrival in Italy, followed by several days in Tuscany. Loved the Mercado in Florence.....try the pasta with shaved truffle, what a treat! After the obligatory sightseeing in Florence, we loved our drive through the Tuscany countryside and numerous villages including Montepulciano and Cortona. We did a round trip through Livorno which we were expecting to be special as it is on the seaside. It is a rather old town but we enjoyed 2 days near the sea. We stopped in Pisa on our way to Lucca and just stopped long enough to visit the Leaning Tower. We loved Lucca and could have used a few extra days there. We had a challenge backtracking to the Pisa Airport and it was after taking some wrong turns that we finally found a sign to the airport. A GPS is pretty mandatory in Italy as we found out after wasting time finding our way around. Loved Tuscany and could spend a few months living like a local. Do get good local maps !! Be aware that you cannot drive in the centre of some of the towns. Rick Steeves really covers these issues in his book on Italy and I relied on some of his opinions.

    OUTSTANDING!
.Professional. Courtious. Knowledgeable. Picked up dockside from our cruise ship, just off the gangway. Clean passenger van, even had a cooler of water for us. "Matteo" our driver filled us in on Rome and what to expect in the 1 hour plus drive into city. We had two other couples with us. Matteo drove us as close as possible to the sights. Ancient ruins, Collosium, Vatican, Fountain de Trevi. A nice lunch spot. Back onboard, discussing our day, we were pleased to hear how much walking we avoided from the Cruise ship tour! AND, about $300 cheaper! Highly reccomended!

Pisa and Florence in one day!
This trip was a very nice way to spend the time from our cruise ship in port for just the day. Pick up and drop off was on the dock. We shared a van with two other couples (who booked their tour separately) and spent the day with a knowledgeable guide from the area who could get us around traffic jams on the road to maximize our time in both cities. As advertised, we were returned to the ship well before we set sail again with a day's worth of memories.

A Day In Rome and The Vatican
Thank you for the follow up. We had a great trip and are glad to be home safely. We enjoyed our tour in Rome. We decided to do a private tour to avoid the long lines and maximize our time. Claudio, our driver was on time and met us at our cruise ship. Claudio was very nice and the car was clean and comfortable. He provided information about the area between the port and Rome. It was nice to pass all the tour buses and we drove to Rome. Upon arriving in Rome our tour guide met us at the the Vatican for a private tour. Again we decided to us a private tour guide for the Vatican to make the most of our time. Marta, our Vatican tour was very knowledgeable not only about the Vatican but also Roman history in general. The tour covered a lot of ground and Marta provided detailed information that I am sure most people would not get from a tour. It was a 3 1/2 hour tour. Fabulous. It was best to do the Vatican tour first since both the crowds and the temperature increased as the morning went on. We then visited the coliseum and Trevi fountain with time for lunch in between. The drive back to the ship was quick with Claudio giving us more information. Overall it was a great day and would definitely use DRIVERINROME again

Excellent Tour with a Top Notch Driver
My husband and I were on a Royal Caribbean cruise to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We were in Rome on our actual anniversary. It was a very pleasant surprise to be upgraded so the driver, Claudius, met us at the port in Civitavecchia. He was very courteous and extremely knowledgeable about Rome! The best tour for the money and far exceeded what Royal Caribbean had to offer!
